Well I don't know how to say this otherwise. This song describes perfectly my own struggle with severe anxiety. Music is a cure for illness. Especially yours. It gives me the strenght to hang on and never give up. Merci les gars !
It always amazes me that Gojira writes such technical Music in terms of their Time signatures and transitions yet they always sound melodic and it somehow sounds kinda easy to listen to. And lyrically Joe is not only one of the best songwriters in the Metal Scene but to me he is as great as someone like a Dylan or Young or Lenon and their likes. I can't get over how good this drummer is. just amazing.
i love the path joe's taken with his vocals. the ambient screams are amaziiiiiing
Gojira are one of the greatest metal bands to walk this earth, so excited for the new album

These lyrics along with the sounds are going to let the people under the stage feel incredibly alive, after this year and a half. These guys really have artistic sensibility.
"The more we're getting older, the more we love different stuff. For example, I wanted to bring something a bit more technical, something back to the roots a little bit, so it's why I came with this drum pattern 'Into the Storm' or 'Grind.'
"And I remember the communication with the others, they said, 'Yeah, I don't know about it...' But finally, I convinced them, I said, 'What we need is something catchy, and heavy, and brutal like in the past.'
- Mario
I'm definitely waiting for Grind, must be the heaviest track on Fortitude.
@@agustincasciero It's definitely heavy but not as much as you might expect. Also the ending part is super melodic and rather on the soft side.
@@raphaelbovey5676 hmm, I'm waiting for something like The Way of All Flesh and The Fall, melodic but super fucking heavy. Also maybe a hidden track, since they've done it every three albums
@@agustincasciero it's so hard to choose a favorite song, it all depends on the mood I guess. The way of all flesh is up there. I have the logo of Gojira on the rear window of my truck and i want to put "the way of all flesh" on top of the windshield with that font. I love how that song talks about our last minutes on earth
@@changuirus5000 I was talking more of what I'm expecting for the final track, but since you talk about favorite songs, mine are Esoteric Surgery, Flying Whales and Love
Damn, that chorus is melodic and catchy af. Not something you see too often with Gojira.
While I feel Gojira has often incorporated more melodic elements into their music, I feel this song in particular is definitely giving off "new" Gojira energy. Very melodic, while still incorporating those heavy elements. Absolutely love it!
@@Logarrithmic Yeah, agreed. They've had melodies, just not like these.
I like it, especially the intro, but it’s the chorus actually that ruins it for me, well the vocals in general in this one.
Magma was a pretty melodic album. I mean, that's what they were aiming for with it.
I personally disliked the chorus. To each their own...
"how sad, how long it takes us to rise and fight" 😢so true
Mario Duplantier is so tight when it comes to his grooves. This is the drummer that I aspire to be. Thank you for the inspiration to get out and become a better person and drummer!
Dude I want to get a drum kit cuz mario and joey
Finally.... Im here before Nik Nocturnal
By the time you finish listening to this song, he will have uploaded a cover
This comment made my day😂
LOL
Literally my first thought hahaha
BAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!!
Is this finally going to be the Album to push This band to headline festivals in the US and Beyond. They deserve to play 2 hours or more for every festival appearance.
Unfortunately not 1 festival here in America is giving them that chance. They played several headline slots in the past 2 years
I'm currently sick with the virus. Today is the first day after a week that I'm feeling better. And I find this new and awesome Gojira release telling me to rise, to come out, that I'm awake now and that I was hiding. This is exactly how I feel and, in couple of days, when the isolation ends, I will throw myself back into the storm with tears in my eyes, fist in the air, and this song blasting on my headphones \m/
That’s awesome. I’ve got Covid now… I’m doing this when I beat this fucker 🤘🏻
When are they going to start releasing the good songs from the album? So far it's just been the mind blowingly incredible songs...
I must admit, you had me at the beginning !
Hehee
Wanted to dislike, ended up liking. Ha!
🤣
Had us in the first half not gonna lie
so far we got
the pull of game (another world)
the chuggy (born for one thing)
the boing (Amazonia)
the brrr b brrr b rrr (into the storm)
this album gonna be the fucking beast in 2021
Boing
Dude i love this comment :D
All that's missing now is the obligatory "scrrr scrrr" scrape spam song .
Hey guys, i just want to say thank you for this, diagnosed with complex PTSD and this helped me to stand tall whenever i had an episode, thank you for saving another life
I agree

Mario doesn't make things easier on himself, does he? Outstanding is an understatement!
unreal
Holy shit yes, he still keeps evolving with every album! Bet this isn't even his final form! 🔥
and he’s still not even going 100 percent, he’s playing this while still serving the song perfectly
Easier? This is child's play for him. What a monster
Deftones and Gojira coming to town this summer. You bet your ass I'll be there!
sometimes its even sad to listen to deftones for me cause its that bad live

Wait ! You guys are getting concerts ?
Hmm, they cancelled that show in Nashville...
yeah that whole tour is gonna be cancelled. so I wouldnt buy tickets

Polyrhythmic insanity transitioning seamlessly into anthemic beauty. This song encapsulates what makes Gojira the best band in the world.
I’m seriously convinced these guys can never make a bad song. Absolutely killer.
Did you find yourself unconsciously headbanging?
Well, I guess we all did. Great song!!
Unconsciously????
It's amazing how that happens
@Juicey Kisses Makes perfect sense to me
Chuggy as always. Can't wait for the album to drop
" Found the Bottom begging for Air " That can ring a bell... Roughly a year ago I was going through the hardest time of my life on a mental scale... False accusations and separation from my 2 young sons... 8 year relationship cheated on and blamed for everything for busting her in the act.... Shit on in court even with a good attorney I hired... I wanted to give up on life. I was very close, alot of 4am phone calls with my mom and even my Boss a crying wrecked mess... I was promoted at the time to a shift lead ... I can tell everyone that once you hit the bottom... Push off and head for that air and light on the surface... Get away from that toxic person that is literally ruining your life... I'm 29 and being in the dark like that was terrifying ... I made it to the surface with a few friends and family that helped me and I did exactly what this song speaks versus on.... I hopped into the storm fucking ready.... I didn't give up so you shouldn't either... Catch your wave and ride that motherfucker to the shore... Walk another day don't sink... I hope this helps someone that is struggling.
Amen to that 💪. And blessings from above.
First I thought it was referring to a person as a bottom haha. Also stay strong 🤘

What the fuck, so far not a single track from this album that's been released isn't a masterpiece. This is outstanding
I dug the other 2 singles, but I personally think this one is just, meh...
@@GenuineAltruist uhhh no, I enjoyed it very much. I'm a drummer, you know, it's physically impossible for me to not like something like this. BTW three singles have come out besides this one dude, did you miss one? Another World, Born For One Thing and Amazonia

Compared to the other 3 releases this has more of a "epic" feel. THATS NOT A BAD THING, good shit.
Gojira is just killing it these dayssss
At this moment in time, these lyrics are so inspired and relevant. Gojira is a singularity, the heaviest matter of the universe
Gojira is love, so yes :)
This album has been amazing so far!!
Hoping for something heavier though
@@dylanblack8714 Agree... it seems like they are holding themselves on the three tracks.
@@dylanblack8714 will be a continuation of Magma. The Chant is probably the softest Gojira track ever. A true hippie ballad.
Those who are only content with "something heavy" are the worst kind of fans because they ignore all concepts, all ideology, all the message of the song in the name of a unique desire of "heavy for the heavy".

I feel like crying out in liberation.
This is already my favorite album and the whole thing hasn’t even come out yet
These lyrics man, just wow. I'm tearing up reading along. I relate so much.
"Heavy + Genuis + Metal + Riff = Gojira" - Albert Einstein, probably.
"Genuis" - Albert Einstein indeed my friend :D haha
Einstein isn't smart enough to make this
@@khold7560 haha, true
Your sound has evolved so much into a beautiful melodious expression of art,
while at the same time not abandoning the weight and heaviness of your lyrics and instrumentals that made you stand out in the first place.
I won't say never change to Gojira, because the changes they make always add something new without them losing their core identity.
I carpooled with a guy trying out for drums in my old band, he said he didn’t like Gojira. Last time I ever saw that guy.
He was intimidated by their drumming.

Well I don't know how to say this otherwise. This song describes perfectly my own struggle with severe anxiety.
Music is a cure for illness. Especially yours.
It gives me the strenght to hang on and never give up.
Merci les gars !
I'm in the same.boat. never give up. Keep playing this song until you come out to the light clean and stronger. God bless.
His words are so relevant to the current times and events. Whether it is Flying Whales or Amazonia. Mad respect and love for these French blokes.
I don't know how they did it, but this song awakens and comforts my inner hurting child. Thank you, Gojira
Shat my pants a little, wasn't expecting a new single on a Monday at all

A touch of metalcore without the cheesiness and mind melting polyrythms. What a banger!
I'd say this is closer to having Groove Metal vibes than any core genre tbh 🤔

I love how there is basically nothing revolutionary in this song yet it sounds refreshing and uplifting. Gojira took the best from L'Enfant and Sirius and brought us a banger.
Maybe the lyrics are nothing revolutionary, but that drumming ohhhhhhh boy
@@thomas1schranz371 What do you mean ? this is basically meshuggah's bleed , don't say it's revolutionary , it's a sick song tho i love it

@@rippindrummer666 I feel the same. Everybody is raving about the songs released but I really feel underwhelmed ...
When you think about a song and still get goosebumps, that's when you know that the artist has done an amazing job. @@M67-h6k Exactly. There's a lot of great metal bands out there but Gojira seems to be the only one thats growing the fanbase, getting attention from non-metal listeners, finding some commercial success, etc. Same way that many people in the metal music industry credit Pantera with keeping metal alive through the mid-90s.
