I'm from Barcelona and some years ago did a road trip with my girlfriend of that time. We both were fans of the Dandys and spent some days in Oregon. One day, walking by the center of Portland, we saw a demonstration against fluorized water and Zia was there. We were in Portland from Barcelona partly because of her band, we met her and we didn't say anything. No regrets to ourselves but, come on... hahaha holy shit.
One time my friends and I flew from LA to Portland to go to a Dandy’s show. We happened to bump into Courtney and his girlfriend Lockett (now his wife) out and about the day before. We introduced ourselves and told them we came to see the band. They invited us to a preparty before the show and took us back to the Odditorium after the 3.5 hour set. The Dandy’s Rule, OK! Should have said, HI!
I’m happily re-discovering the D.W. I remember the early stuff as brilliant at the time…. although we took enough “things” so our feet barely touched the ground!!😵💫 I’m catching up on their work and it just gets better!
Train yards and warehouses, yeah. I dunno about the murders. Old Town, maybe so. I lived in Portland from 1981 to 1991 and walked and rode my bike (non-motorized) all over town, including NW, which was just the "warehouse district" at the time, and was never in danger. What I remember about those times, that I miss now, is that Portland used to be quiet. Thanks for the music, awesome video, rock on.
GREAT to hear this little gem again! Was pleased to hear it played on Radio BBC6 today on Iggy's show!! There's nothing like this on Radio anymore!! Top 40 charts just full of urban dance acts.
I am so glad that I found this on a Spotify playlist. Now it's #1 on my On Repeat playlist. EDIT: "Ride" topped my Your Top Songs 2022 playlist on Spotify.
This is a complete pastiche, and tip of the hat to, the English band Ride. It perfecrly encapsulates the entire Nowhere albumn by ride - especially Andy Bells use of wah wah peddle.
This is one of the sexiest songs ever created ...thank you for playing it last night in Melbourne - it was definitely one of the highlights ...as was meeting you at the after party 🤘❤️🔥
I allways love their dirty, little psychodelic or narcotic sound and vibe. I remember when heard them back in 97 with this song and Boys Better. It was shock. Still have goosebombs listening it
lyrics: You're my ride I'm out my window It's alright If you've got candy-o You're so cool And not much older But you know how to drive Baby, you're my ride I slip outside And to the corner Roll down your drive Before you start it I'm no fool Not like your father Awake outside Baby, you're my ride
Kind of makes me feel nostalgic and homesick at the same time. I don't like what the Pearl District has turned into the last time I was there, and most of Weinhardt's is long gone. Isn't the causeway over to Lovejoy off the Broadway bridge also gone as well? It's been a few years since I been back, this vedeo brings back some good memories of the Rose City.
To quote an architecture professor, "My God! This is Architecture!" An additional thought (7/18/24) about the "unintentional" in a photograph. I once took a photo of a former boyfriend in my dorm room as he was putting on his jeans (the decisive moment). Later, when I developed the photo, I noticed my out of focus bicycle in the background. And, yeah, he was 12 years younger than me.
Saw them 3 times, ate dinner sitting across from Scott Miller at Saleem's in the University City Loop area. One show was at Wash U. Beatles Bob was there. Another at the Hi Pointe (dearly missed venue.) The other show was at De Melkweg in A'dam.
@@tarleyp4645 I can't tell you how much the show at the Enmore exceeded my expectations for enjoyment. The last time I saw them at Luna Park there were so many issues. So glad they have a good sound engineer for their live shows now. I hadn't heard any of their new stuff until the show and absolutely loved it. Just what I needed.
One of the most underrated songs by The Dandys in my opinion!
Their best song, in my opinion. “Ride” is to The Dandys what “Dreams” is to The Cranberries
One of my fav live songs,so dreamylike
Natasha you are absolutely correct love this song I blast it in my car!!!!!
Underrated my ass. Stupid comment.
Saw them last night in nyc and they opened with this!!!
They all look and sound so stunning in this. Amazing. How I wish there was more music like this.
You could listen to…Ride?
people need to get out there and form bands and make more of this kind of music. Have you seen the film DIG! ?
@@RataStueyI got DIG! As a preteen. Been a big fan since I was 10. 32 now, oh time. The music is timeless though.
Who else in 2024 ??
Great tune! I wish the band held on to their roots in later albums.
Ride and Good morning! Best songs

2022 and we still don't have any fluoride in our water! 👌

@ats916 this was shot in nw portland, in what is now the pearl district. used to be all train yards and murderers. now it's yuppies and condos.

The since demolished Lovejoy Viaduct is very prominent in this video
2024 and Portland has become an armpit.
So simple, so great. Possibly the coolest tune they made. Great video too.

my favorite dandy song.
all time favorite american band. so underrated. live forever!

dandy warhols so many great songs and albums
My daughters second favorite Dandy's song "Motorcycle Song". Fukn rocks.
Brilliant song one if the best
One of their BEST by far. Excellent tone...if ONLY they could've gone this path on future albums... massive concussion of ROCK by the dandy warhols!
Totally agree
Massive concussion lol

god damn this song is so fucking good! only 43,000 views?
THis is the song that made me fall in love with the Dandy Warhols.
"then why don't you marry them" ? : Pee Wee Herman 🤪
my thoughts excactly... bring back more of the early stuff !
Thank you, TDW, for existing in this world and making uhmaazzzzing music :"-)
Love the neo-psychedelic vibe
kinda shoegaze
There is basically nothing better than this in life

damn i used to be obsessed with these guys i havent heard this song in a minute. still so good
Superb tip of the hat to Oxfords gods!
More please
I’d like to be a ride now and future. Am still cruizin with a morning glory type haze. Nice trip!
Great song from the year when I was born :D
lyrics: You're my ride
I'm out my window
It's alright
If you've got candy-o
You're so cool
And not much older
But you know how to drive
Baby, you're my ride
I slip outside
And to the corner
Roll down your drive
Before you start it
I'm no fool
Not like your father
Awake outside
Baby, you're my ride

You'r so cooooool!
Proper tune!!!
well if ever a voice was the band, this is it.
Saw them play this song at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne, it was absolutely booming. It felt like permanent hearing damage.
otro clasico para practicar surf aunque jamas lo he hecho
Great stuff! Indeed. Thank you 🙏
Love it!

does Ride have a song called "Dandy Warhols"?
no, but I think other tracks on this album were called spacemen 3, spiritualized, loop, pixies & maybe even galaxie 500 lol
one of the songs is called lou weed lol
@@toogoodlimegreen Song of Dandys with Lou Reed are called Lou Weed! ;)
Great song + slow motion vintage motorcycles = kick ass video.
love the bjm sticker on pete´s guitar! band brothers

this is the song I want to listen to, as my soul goes up to heaven - or down to hell or whatever
Ask the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness and you can know you're going to heaven!
Stone roses
smooth n cool

Another great DW track.
My favourite song of theirs. They haven't played it on either occasion I've seen them in Australia.

Отличная команда, драйвовая ...
Try listening to this song at 1.25x speed...and at 1.5x... It sounds AMAZING.
it sounds like Brian Jonestown Massacre. no wonder Anton loved that first album.
pure low down groovy psychodelic filth rock!!!!
Philip Stadnicki
I have the physicaldelic wall paper app.....Felipe Dos chapa
it has this thick psychedelic wall of sound, in their time i think they were real good and underrated band
Yeah!!
Classic dandy song
It's a Dandy ❤. Super cool 😎
Love this fuckin' band forever
The Dandy's fucking rule ok!
This has that awesome strung out Jesus and Mary Chain thing going on (which is absolutely a compliment). Fantastic track.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fucking amazing
This. Song. Omg
were back again.
sounds like RIDE.
On purpose ;).
It's like a 60s movie.
you know the one I mean.
Ace!
Portland Oregon
Anybody else getting a Catherine Wheel feel from this, specifically their song "She's My Friend"?
Absolutely
I actually get a very Ride vibe off this which I thought is why they named it ride
indeed!
The ultimate r'n'r song for me...
2:45 🤘
Holy shit!! :)
This song reminds me of songs I’ve heard by the Brian Jonestown Massacre
I love the Dandy’s but forgot just how SHOEGAZE-Y this was, the song Ride sounds a lot like the band RIDE. But slightly better ❤
Spot on
As it happens, it seems 1995 was a good year for alternative...besides this band: Eels, Better then Ezra, Whale, a bunch more...what happened?
This song makes me wanna move to portland :/
The fucking cream
Best x
Peak Portland
great song :) any idea where the video was shot? i think either portland or san francisco
Damn Tay Tay looks so young!
This sounds like it should be in a David Lynch movie
that would just be too powerful
THE DAHNDEEYS
Somebody can give me intro solo tabs ?
❤
Is that a tribute to UK band Ride?
i dont know what else it could be since it sounds like a bonus track to going blank again and is literally called ride
Yes it is a tribute to the band Ride. ✌🏻
Listening to OX4 Best of Ride, tracks like Drive Blind attest to the dandies liking a bit of good old brit shoegazing.
They do tributes like this and Lou Weed? I think that's what it's called.
Totally sounds like Ride, esp the fuzz wah solo and harmonies. Fucking fuck me love it.
Dandys Rule.....OK
2024 here
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this to me sounds as though it could be a part of the Brit Shoe Gaze sound.
It’s halfway between shoegaze and grunge. I believe it’s an homage to the band Ride
anyone seen the Black Angels' Target commercial? Looks a lot like this video!
Yea, what?????
too bad they don't sound like this anymore
Dan Venezzio i just seen them last week. They definitely still got it
I meant on record..
