I write lists for basically everything. Literally. If I plan to buy, do, organize something it goes on a list. I love crossing things off, makes me feel more productive. Plus, it helps keep me in check when work/life start feeling out of balance. Great vid!
I always use a shopping list. Non critical items can be crossed off if I don't have enough money with me, but the rest are an absolute must. After everything on the list is in the cart, I will browse to see if there is anything I overlooked or decide that I want. If I don't do this, I will arrive home having forgotten something I needed to purchase.
Here's another list: 1. Projects 2. Responsibilities 3. Dreams 4. Budget 5. Weekly meal plan 6, Grocery list 7. Weekly chore checklist 8. Weekly to do list 9. Daily to do list 10. What's working well in your life 11. Whats not working in your life 12. Routines
My kids are grown and gone now, but one of the things I desperately wish I would have done when they were babies is start a medical list for each one of them. Just having a running list of their doctors medicines, allergies, tests, diagnosis, broken bone, surgeries, Etc. It's amazing how quick you forget those things you think you'll never forget, or you need that information when you're exhausted and tired and there's an emergency. Keeping a running document for every family member, including my husband and myself, is the smartest thing I ever did, but I wish I would have started it when my boys were babies.
I love listing so much that I carry a little notebook and pen with me all the time. My habit as an affiliate marketer, I list the things I need to do before I go to bed. First thing in the morning, I read them and check if I missed something. Most importantly, whenever we have a live session with my team and some coaching, I still look at my notes and make some corrections on things and jot down the valuable ideas that were shared then. This is helping me to catch the ideas quickly. Then if there's something that needs a reminder, I go ahead and put that on my calendar. Gillian, this video is awesome! Thank you!
Thank you Gillian 🙏🏽: - all current projects (some ma be goals): have a specific outcome date - current responsibilities : something I have to do over again, like chores... - dreams: longer term, dreaming big, ideas to reach them - budget - meal plan - grocery list - weekly chore checklist - to do this week - to do today - what’s working in your life - what’s not working in your life - regular routines you have in your life. Will implement these in my life, again: than you 💕
I love lists so much I’ve been known to have a TADA! list - all the things I got done so I can look over it and feel like a badass. 😂🤩 That's what you get when you love (and teach) productivity I guess. 😂
Hi Gillian Beautifully explained, thanks Few suggestions, we can make 1) shopping list// offline and online , so if the list is ready , when we go out or when we have enough money or when the sale is on we can buy 2) travel related lists// toiletries list, makeup list, documents to carry etc, very helpful for those who travel frequently 3) filing list// different things which we would have filed Or it can be considered as documents list 4) meal prep list ( commonly kept ) 5) list of phone numbers or addressees of different vendors , service providers eg: carpenter, plumbers, tech supporters 6) list of different sectors of ppl , like friends list, relatives list, teachers or ppl you admire list, so if we want a function or workshop we don't miss anyone 7) places to visit, which can be subdivided into spiritual places, scenic places, budgetery places, long vacation places, weekend visiting places, dream destinations 8) list of places you have already visited along with dates and one photo if possible 9) work related lists subdivided depending on work 10)list of books you want to read this year
I have a list of things I need for my wardrobe or special items I want to buy for the house or trips I want to take and finally books I have read or want to read, same for movies or upcoming events. These help me be more intentional in how I spend my time. List makers unite!
I Love you. I have been following you since 2017 and actually applying every piece of advice you make effort to share to us. very inspiring you changed my life😍
You are an inspiring young person... Your kids are lucky to have you as their mother. Really good interpersonal skills.. And really personable. Thank you for your down to earth style of delivering life tips
I love lists too! My most helpful list is a master grocery list. I keep a list of everything I buy regularly at the grocery store and print off a copy when I go shopping. I can quickly scan the list and note how many of any item I need that week. That way I don’t forget something like toilet paper because when I see it on the list it reminds me to check the stock I have on hand. Saves me a lot of time trying to think of things.
Your videos are really inspiring for me. Yesterday I was really bored and kind of demotivated. Suddenly I have opened your channel and it gave me the boost to rekindle my motivation again.
I am glad to have come across this video. I think I will want to create a weekly chores list so that I don't dread having to do what I need to do. I also did not think to do a list for what's working and what's not working. Once you said it, it makes sense! Most of the time it's just drifting around in my mind, and things that are not working never gets resolved because of that! I look forward to making that list so I can learn what works for me and work to improve what doesn't.
And by the way, I love your practical, no-nonsense approach. I need more of this in my life, cause I need to learn a lot about everything related to organisation! I am a work in progress! So you have yet one more (well deserved) subscriber
Great video. I have an ongoing list on my iphone in the notes area.....lists for everything: books to read (TBR), grocery lists, things to do lists, Christmas gifts list (yes, I've already started- and to keep track of what I've already bought, I keep a list) projects to do, prayer requests, etc....LISTS ARE LIFE
I have a list called NOW where I write all the things I'm focusing on right now (projects, goals, habits etc), similar to the project list you mentioned. And then another one called ROUTINES, where I write routines, recurrent tasks (as your responsabilities, weekly chores...), schedules...
So helpful. I'll need more time than I have right now to make the list of these 12 lists, but that's OK. I'll just put that on my "to do" list for when I get home from work. Finally, someone talking about real life, and offering concrete and sensible ideas on how to live better. Many a counseling session has been paid for where no actual advice was ever given. Just keeping these twelve lists, I'm certain, will help many to manage depression and anxiety better than years of therapy sessions. I've been down that road. All I wanted from my "therapists" was advice on what I could do to make my life more manageable. They never told me anything I could take action on. Of course, our Success-Rock-Star, Gillian P. comes through... with a smile, and free!!
I just love your vids, Gillian. I’ve always been a compulsive journal writer/list writer/ goal organiser... but before TH-cam, and before your Chanel.. , I always thought there was something ‘obsessively compulsively’ wrong with me.. haha.. But watching your vids, and other similar Chanels is making me realise.. no there’s nothing ‘wrong’ with me.. these are GOOD habits for a healthy lifestyle. I love all your tips and your vids are super motivating. Thankyou so much 💗
Well, Gillian, you have knocked this out of the ball park! Have you thought about a book/course for working wives? I work in a job PT where I have to do with the working public - and I meet so many tired/exhausted people that something like this would help!! They just have so much crap to deal with.....and life just seems like a list of unending chores!! But - you don't have a FT job? That might be the one variable!! Think about this.....how could you help??
She is very clear and has a good voice. She does not use any props like a board or animation. But she does not need them - her explanations and examples are very clear. I think I will buy her book. This is a big problem with me. Thank you !
Since the only thing I am really consistent with is my inconsistency, I do not do lists. Not even for groceries or packing for a holiday. Ok, I forget a thing or two from time to time, but it is scarcely critical, and if it is, a list won't usually help (I know in my head what I need to pack, I tend to forget those last-minute things when I am half out of the door - like a cellphone or a wallet). When I tried to write lists, do journaling and such, I usually failed to finish even a single list, and even if I did, I just lost it or never looked at it again. With journaling, I have never kept up for more than a week. I am trying to introduce some consistency in my life, but the problem is - it makes even the things I like seem like a chore. I am an avid reader, I have read hundreds, maybe thousands of books in my life, but when I say to myself "ok, I'll be reading for at least ten minutes a day", I just stop reading altogether and not pick up a book for a month. Even being on goodreads to track my reading has bad impact on the amount I read (oh hell, I'll have to write it there. What a struggle!) I envy people who can be as consistent as you are. I guess I might become better if I really tried to, but hardly as good.
I couldn't function without lists! This was great, Gillian. Thank you! I do already have lists for most of what you suggested, but you gave me a few new ideas. :)
I have the problem with lists that I enjoy them a little too much. I really tend to overplan my stuff and in the end I don't really take action. But I love lists (and have actually more than half of the ones you mentioned)
This is great!! I’m working on organizing my whole life (anxiety has been getting to me lately) so that I can make progress on all my goals! Thank you!
I too am a list maker. The daily list. I have a plastic book mark for my planner that has on it my usual to-do, it has holes punched in it I put it on my page and check off through the hole, what all is done. It keeps me on track. I also have one for the usual monthly lists.. wind the clock, put the septic system stuff in, clean coffeepot, clean out purse. And so on. It makes my life easier. I am a list lover from way back. Close to 45 years now.. I am still always learning. Thank you for spelling these things out for us.
lol, this is so funny because I am a lister and in essence, it's these things that I've had grouped in my head to do and it's a big confirmation to hear it from someone else. Thank you.
Great video. I already make most of these lists. Haha! I've never thought about listing what is and is not working. I'll have to try it. Those were the only ones I don't do.
I absolutely love this video. Just watched it again to make my notes. I do many of these lists already, but some new ideas are always great to help organize our lives. 😊👍
Best app I ever found (recommended by a girlfriend, a digital, nomad entrepreneur) is Wunderlist. I try all kinds of software when trying out new digital tools for comparison, and she was right. I highly recommend it!
I am a total list addict... I already apply some of these. Despite loving lists, I am trying to learn to not hate myself if I do not cross everything off of my lists. I am a productivity junky and want to learn not to value myself based on my productivity, but based on who I am as a person in relation to others and our planet. Despite that, lists are helpful, it is just a personal mind trick that I trap myself in.
Great video! I love lists and I think a lot of the lists you suggest will help me improve my systems and processes. Especially #11. Also, and I realize this is outside the scope of your typical videos, but your hair is beautiful! It is healthy, smooth, silky, and shiny. I’d love to see a video about your hair care routine and the products you use. Thanks for your continuous excellent content!
I've thought of keeping a list of consumables and needs other than food would be good. Like, keep it posted on the wall or refrigerator. Things like toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, paper towels, garbage bags, kitty litter, and a new cordless vacuum or dust clothes, or a toaster. Whatever needs to be purchased for household function. I started to say I "wanted" to keep this list, but changed it to "I thought of", because, if I wanted it, I would do it.(?) I'll just add making and posting that list to my weekly to do list, schedule it and done! : )
Lovely video! Thanks!. Do you know the happy planner? I just ordered one, it looks great to easily and beautifully order your lists and ideas by easily changing the pages of place in the planner.
Great Video!! some of these things I do already, others I haven’t done, so thank you 😁for posting this info, I’m thinking about starting my own channel so trying to figure it all out..
I use a google calendar in my phone for my chore reminders list, I also keep a Journal and write lists down that way. I do youtube video vlogs you all come check them out.
Great video as always Gillian .i tried some apps but nothing like checking out the box on a paper in my case I like to use 3/4 notepads always stays with me.. Thnks for sharing and reminding the importance of to-do lists in every aspects of life
Funny that I have about 8 of these lists going already but now I need to keep them where I can see them lol.. I have my planner upstairs which I never see until bedtime and my notebook follows me pretty much all over but my lists are in my planner😜😲😁😍
I use google keep for all my lists. It helps a lot with that problem because it is all in my phone for when ever I need it. It makes it easier to write on them. I am constantly looking at my lists because of how accessible they are to me. Hope this helps.
I try to write down things.... but i always forget to keep getting back to it! 😂 they just get lost in piles of papers & journals. I really need to de clutter and organize my space!
I was a list maker for a while, but I found that I spent more time writing lists than actually doing what I needed to do.... :( SO I stopped. I also spent way too much money on Planners, that I rarely every followed...
I use Asana. But only for my tasks with due dates. All other notes and lists go in Evernote. Thinking/planning/doodling with color in my bujo helps me work through ideas, but final lists go in Evernote or Asana.
I use Trello but I'm strugeling how to do/organize this lists.... Trello is the best thing for my job but private I prefer doing in planer written in hand....
List-lovers unite! (lol) What lists do YOU make? ♡♡♡
I write lists for basically everything. Literally. If I plan to buy, do, organize something it goes on a list. I love crossing things off, makes me feel more productive. Plus, it helps keep me in check when work/life start feeling out of balance. Great vid!
Gillian Perkins I make lists that I don't check often so they end end up being overlooked lol , but that's about to change!!!!:)
List of what I need to change and what I need to save in my life)
I always use a shopping list. Non critical items can be crossed off if I don't have enough money with me, but the rest are an absolute must.
After everything on the list is in the cart, I will browse to see if there is anything I overlooked or decide that I want.
If I don't do this, I will arrive home having forgotten something I needed to purchase.
A gratitude list is something I just recently made and add to as needed!😊

It pays to be organized. You get to know how things are going with your business when you have a well planned daily task.
Being organized makes my work easier. Thank you for these tips!
Thank you Gillian 🙏🏽:
- all current projects (some ma be goals): have a specific outcome date
- current responsibilities : something I have to do over again, like chores...
- dreams: longer term, dreaming big, ideas to reach them
- budget
- meal plan
- grocery list
- weekly chore checklist
- to do this week
- to do today
- what’s working in your life
- what’s not working in your life
- regular routines you have in your life.
Will implement these in my life, again: than you 💕
This is a list from all 12 list! Lol
Thanks. You just saved me ten minutes!
I love lists so much I’ve been known to have a TADA! list - all the things I got done so I can look over it and feel like a badass. 😂🤩 That's what you get when you love (and teach) productivity I guess. 😂
That's awesome! Definitely making that one :)
Yes
I call it Done List!
Hi Gillian
Beautifully explained, thanks
Few suggestions, we can make
1) shopping list// offline and online , so if the list is ready , when we go out or when we have enough money or when the sale is on we can buy
2) travel related lists// toiletries list, makeup list, documents to carry etc, very helpful for those who travel frequently
3) filing list// different things which we would have filed Or it can be considered as documents list
4) meal prep list ( commonly kept )
5) list of phone numbers or addressees of different vendors , service providers eg: carpenter, plumbers, tech supporters
6) list of different sectors of ppl , like friends list, relatives list, teachers or ppl you admire list, so if we want a function or workshop we don't miss anyone
7) places to visit, which can be subdivided into spiritual places, scenic places, budgetery places, long vacation places, weekend visiting places, dream destinations
8) list of places you have already visited along with dates and one photo if possible
9) work related lists subdivided depending on work
10)list of books you want to read this year
I have a list of things I need for my wardrobe or special items I want to buy for the house or trips I want to take and finally books I have read or want to read, same for movies or upcoming events. These help me be more intentional in how I spend my time. List makers unite!

I love making lists! Great list ideas!
I'm in list Heaven! Thanks
Total list maker! Thank you for your tips on making these lists more efficient!
I have the problem with lists that I enjoy them a little too much. I really tend to overplan my stuff and in the end I don't really take action. But I love lists (and have actually more than half of the ones you mentioned)
I've struggled with this as well, but still love lists. :) I find having the weekly and daily to do lists really helpful.
This is great!! I’m working on organizing my whole life (anxiety has been getting to me lately) so that I can make progress on all my goals! Thank you!
Getting organized has really helped my anxiety. ♡♡♡
SuperTravelMama don’t forget a self care list!
Gillian Perkins I think that’s one of the major causes of my anxiety - not being organized!! As a busy mama, I can’t keep track of it all in my head!🤪
Tara Wagner ooohhh yes!!! I need that list too!!!💞
the music sums it up. Thanks GILL
Thank you Gillian, this was really helpful.
Good to hear! Thank you :)
I’m so a list maker! I use a happy planner to keep track of my daily house/personal tasks and then use Trello to keep track of business stuff.
Amazing video! No1 was totally brilliant!
Thanks for sharing
lol, this is so funny because I am a lister and in essence, it's these things that I've had grouped in my head to do and it's a big confirmation to hear it from someone else. Thank you.
Great video. I already make most of these lists. Haha! I've never thought about listing what is and is not working. I'll have to try it. Those were the only ones I don't do.
Hello Gillian, I make a list of blog post ideas, confidence builders and stories that inspire me.
Thank you Dear, you are amazing.
Thanks for sharing a great video Gillian! I love to make lists!
Don’t know where I’d be without a list. I’ll be adding some of these to mine 😁.
I love lists so much I got super excited that you posted this so I can make more lists.....
List-lovers unite :)
I absolutely love this video. Just watched it again to make my notes. I do many of these lists already, but some new ideas are always great to help organize our lives. 😊👍
Love lists.
Best app I ever found (recommended by a girlfriend, a digital, nomad entrepreneur) is Wunderlist. I try all kinds of software when trying out new digital tools for comparison, and she was right. I highly recommend it!
Do you have tips/video on how to improve memory?
Systematic life is to be make a successful life thank you madam
Glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you very much! ♡
Thank you for this video :-)
I've thought of keeping a list of consumables and needs other than food would be good. Like, keep it posted on the wall or refrigerator. Things like toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, paper towels, garbage bags, kitty litter, and a new cordless vacuum or dust clothes, or a toaster. Whatever needs to be purchased for household function.
I started to say I "wanted" to keep this list, but changed it to "I thought of", because, if I wanted it, I would do it.(?)
I'll just add making and posting that list to my weekly to do list, schedule it and done! : )
I love organizing and some of those skills went at waste- side. I love lists and yout tools will realy3 help me get back on track 😊
Great tips!! Thanx 👍
Extremely superb video Maa'm
Pretty heavy stuff Gill. Ha, Your right I need to do a couple of these.
Many thanks ! Very nice videos! Congrats
Can you do a video on your planner & other notebook/journal planners? It could help us organize our paperwork. Thanks! Xox
Great idea. So practical. Thank you.
Lovely video! Thanks!. Do you know the happy planner? I just ordered one, it looks great to easily and beautifully order your lists and ideas by easily changing the pages of place in the planner.
Great video! I really appreciate your content and your desire to help others :-)
Love listing.
Very good tips to improve our performance. And it is a pleasure to receive these from a woman so nice, nice and beautiful like you. Thanks.
I love making lists!!! Watching this video I realize I don't do this enough for my life! I need to get organized! Thanks!!
Getting organized feels so good! :) Hope these lists help ♡
I love your channel. Hello from Belarus.
Perfect!!
Great Video!!
some of these things I do already, others I haven’t done, so thank you 😁for posting this info, I’m thinking about starting my own channel so trying to figure it all out..
Best of luck with your new channel! :)

Yes, I love making lists in paper notebooks, or else with Evernote. :)
I have a very vivid imagination but I can't imagine you procrastinating
She's gotten much, much better over the last few years ;)
Lol... 😂
Funny that I have about 8 of these lists going already but now I need to keep them where I can see them lol.. I have my planner upstairs which I never see until bedtime and my notebook follows me pretty much all over but my lists are in my planner😜😲😁😍
Sounds like the lists should move to the notebook :D

I think I've internalized most of these.
Please tell me which camera you use to make your vedio?? 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I keep a list of favorite meals. Then I can run down the list quickly and pick several to add to my meal plan.
I have that list, too! :)
Any suggestions on where to write these lists? In a notebook or a A4 Size paper or on Microsoft word?
I generally write them in Evernote or a simple journal. :)

Has Anyone made a Trello board with these lists and likes to share? :)
CoffeeCala I used to use Trello but moved to Asana for all my lists.
