i think the next game you should play is FTL: Faster Than Light. it won game of the year twice for a reason, and its exactly your type of game: impossibly punishing indie roguelike
The same devs made Into the Breach, which is just about the polar opposite of FTL. FTL is a game where RNG will fuck you every turn you take. ITB is a game where every loss is due to your own actions and mistakes.
