The younger generation could take some notes from Emerald Steel , on what can be accomplished when you have a solid mate to share the load and adventure . Great paint job the boat really looks good !
That's a great picture of the both of you towards the end of video...Jules knows a good bottom when he sees one, Suzie is a one of a kind helpmate for sure. Happy sails to you two.
Good job Suzanne. I know how hard you had to work mate. I'm a solo sailor with a steel boat, I'm 75 still living and sailing and dread when I need to haul out😂😂⛵
And to think, if the two of you didnt do most of the work what would your cost be?? And you two will be much more thorough. What a big plus to owning and caring for your own. Wise Choice always Thank you once again for your dedication.
We love your videos and we always learn something. Its quite inspiring that you built Emerald Steel and you have both come so far with her and seen so much.Keep sailing and filming.
Suzie is one totally amazing woman. Old school, young heart! Welder! Jeez Jules, you won big in life's lottery! I hope you know that, but I suspect you do! That girl moves like a teen. Good on you Jules for saving Susan's back Of all the sailing channels I follow, this is the one for which I feel real affection! Two decent, communicative, intelligent humans. I love you guys!
Awesome job Suzie. I remember my haulouts with fond memories. Ha. I should have taken before and after photos. What a sense of accomplishment to finish!
i used to have a classic italian steel yacht. loved her but was overwhelming. was 62 feet . now i have a 35 foot aluminium that isn’t painted. not everyone’s cup of tea but perfect for me
It's always a joy to watch you care for your boat. I don't blame you for hiring bottom paint out. It's a cruel, cruel job working below turn if the bilge; tho all that sanding overhead topsides is no joy either. Looking great! FW &FS
This brought back a host of memories. I remember dad hauling out the Migrant at Red Shermer's ways just above where you guys anchored on the Yaquina River. It's not there anymore. Folks do pull their boats at Toledo, though.......My brother had the Noah's Ark pulled at Giddings in Charleston and welded a beam to the keel that measured something like 60' long, 5" deep and 14" wide. Helped a bunch with the roll...Some of the crabbers I know are pulling their boats at Fred Wahl's in Reedsport in the off season and leaving them on the hard. Not sure what it costs.....Anyway guys, great video, as usual.(:>)
Susan, after all that work I say you deserve a day at a Spa! Pro-Line semi-gloss excellent suggestion! What is the primer on the top-sides and underwater section? As for Anti-fouling I used Petit Horizon and after 2 years I am pretty happy with it, what did you use? Cheers, a.
We use proline high build 2 part epoxy primer. We've used the same Petit Horizon anti fouling before but this time we used Interlux gold ....they are pretty similar in regards to performance. Thanks for watching!
Stressed to see you sanding with only a bandanna . I have a really great 6" sander with a vacume otlet, and my hands don't even get a speck of dust on them when I use it. It's a Metabo, cost around $500 and it's great. A 4 gallon shop vac does the job perfectly. My best wishes to you both
The MOST annoying thing about Suze is that she is so exclusivly totally stuck on the wrong guy, Jules. Edit: OK OK. She got the right guy. It just doesn't feel like that from where I'm sitting.
As they say, it takes two to tango, you two are the best tangoers I have ever seen! Total respect for you guys!
Suzie can do anything she had a great teacher. Jules don’t hurt your back be careful. The world needs more Suzies.
You are both such beautiful people and a wobderful couple! Fair winds!
The younger generation could take some notes from Emerald Steel , on what can be accomplished when you have a solid mate to share the load and adventure . Great paint job the boat really looks good !
Suzie looks in better shape than most 21 year olds...
She looks beautiful.
I must say that Suzie is a rather remarkable woman - not too many out there willing to live the type of life you are doing - and work so hard at it.
35 years of living - documented. WOW!
That's a great picture of the both of you towards the end of video...Jules knows a good bottom when he sees one, Suzie is a one of a kind helpmate for sure. Happy sails to you two.
Good job Suzanne.

Proof positive: real beauty never gets old, always beautiful, timeless beauty. Inside and outside truly beautiful

I can't say it enough. I have been married for 30 years now and you guys are an inspiration to keep that going. I love you both.
Hard work is rewarded by more hard work. :) Love you guys!
Awesome job ! The boat looks beautiful ! Jules you are a lucky man to have a beautiful boat and a beautiful lady 😉 !
Work fascinates me, I could watch Suzie all day, nice job you guys!
Such a lucky guy Joules, seeing your two beautiful girls. Great job you guys!
Good bit easier to watch skilled people work well. Thanks. Fair winds, smooth sailing.
Thank goodness for Superwoman!!!⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️

Thank you very much!
thank you for showing us what makes the real sailors.
Wow! She looks so great, what incredible lines.
Yeah, and the boat looks good too!
"Can she do it alone"..... She can do anything!

Goes to show that quality craftsmanship, properly taken care of, can stand the test of time.
Thanks guys!
Great job Suzie ! 👍👍😎
Beautiful work! Thank you Suzie! You’re a champion. 2,950$ I’m amazed.
Looks really nice, you two always keep her in fine shape. You guys are so lucky to have each other. What a great home you have. ❤👍👍
You two are so amazing. Easy to see the love for each other you have. Keep it up for many more years. THANKS. Steve rhome tx
The hull is still in beautiful condition and is a credit to your build and mantainance program.
Ohhh Yes .......
A total mess every time....... but it has to be done, or ells 🧐 THANKS for giving .....
Awesome job Suzie. I remember my haulouts with fond memories. Ha. I should have taken before and after photos. What a sense of accomplishment to finish!
LOOKINGOOD SALUDOS
I think your bottom looked pretty good. I don’t know how long its been but I would buy that paint again
What a silly question! Susie built the boat for heavens sakes. I think she can handle a bottom job! 😁
That sure looks like a lot of work. We're not as young as we once were. You make it look easy.
Your one lucky man to have Suzie. I'm in a similar situation. Cheers guys :)
The boat was built well the first time and its quality shines. Great repaint, Cheers from Edmonton Alberta formerly of Protection Island in Nanaimo.
Glad you enjoyed it
Sue doing all the work ? Did Jules get injured ? Thanks
Did not see Susie getting sandwiches for Jules, must have been off camera…..super job!
simply a be-au-ti-ful job.....thank you for sharing

Jules is a good camera guy
Good job! 💪😎👍
Take care!
Jules you have the most wonderful wife in the world.
Jools' jewel....Suze.
Looks good, but what a job! Well done.
Great job! My wife and I will be doing the same thing this fall.
So, the zinc is only conductive to the hull, via the bolts? Nice job on the painting. Why not airless to get it on, and backroll?

Hard work! 🎉🎉🎉
Wonder woman !
Enjoyed the video, great job!
Susie can sand it stir it up and roll it on, what a woman
👍!!!
With a steel hull, do you use copper free primer and paint?
I'm painting my bottom this weekend. Thankfully I have much less hull to do.
boat looks great!-----Mikey--Belfair, wa
what a woman!

Agree, i will pretty much sand anything but antifoul without full protection and vacume. That s#!t is nasty.
You are a amazing woman
Pretty work! I'm wondering if I'm over Zinc'd now after seeing what you carry.
I remember watching the last time you did this. Was that 2 years ago?
nice job xx
How does the inside of the steel get looked after?
I've never seen a face shield like I saw at 2:40. Do I find that shield at welding shops?
Hi, I believe we bought that on Amazon....I like it but it can press pretty hard on the bridge of your nose.
♥️☀️🍷

Jules & Susan have a wonderful relation… why question Jules filming..?? He is a hard working man along with Susan …Rodney ..Australia
not had a chance to watch this yet. however, in reponse to Tag Title; she'll do it eazy peazy but she will require at least one crew member. laters X
Jules, put down the camera and pick up a brush.
I heard him say he was not able at the moment.

Just curious - is your rub rail steel, wood or rubber?
It's welded steel 1/2 pipe.
@@SailingEmeraldSteel ..and well sealed or it wouldn't have held up for this long. Thanks.
👍
Nice work!
