      @@devilzuser0050 Prob... For 4090 even up to 350-400.. Still when ppl are apes, they will brake parts... For example i never brake parts that are in my own systems. Tho one SeaSonic 850w Gold modular did melt PCIex cable, and EVGA SN 850P2 did degrade over time to the point where it did shut down my AM4 system... But is not like i was to blame for these crap problems...

    7:35 Depends on the quality and length. If the riser is undamaged and high enough quality it has no impact within measurement error. PCI-E 3.0 and below is easy and very tolerant of risers. 4.0 requires more expensive risers, the longer the riser the better it has to be to stay within signal integrity margins. 5.0 is a nightmare to cable, but luckily only top-end servers are making use of it today.

    • @lemagreengreen
      @lemagreengreen ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was gonna mention that, I think I remember an LTT video where they tested PCIE 3.0 ribbon risers and managed to get to 3M length by daisychaining them with the GPU still working...

    @northwestrepair 2:29 Chemtronic Flux-Off Aqueous. It's $60 for a gallon and is diluted 1:10 in de-ionized water. So 1 gallon of the chemtronics stuff is going to net you 11 gallons total. It lasts a while too, you can re-use the same detergent for a ton of boards before it needs replacing.
    Basically, you want concentrated Aqueous formulations if you want good economy. I use similar here in the U.K and it gets boards looking like new.

    I have a question, yesterday i decided to open my EVGA 3080 ftw3 ultra to clean it up and repaste it since it was getting very hot (86c max at 100% load when gaming) and i saw that the copper plate touching the core looked darker like it got burnt, is that normal or should i be concerned of the card's longevity? Card works fine atm and now temps are better (72c at 100%), i still need to replace the pads but don't know which size i should buy.

    • @Rzn8B58

      I have the 10g version and mine runs that hot also from what Icue is telling me and I monitor off temp sensor #3 which is 10c hotter than the other 2 for whatever reason. Worries me as well, but it's within spec from what I found on reddit since they draw more power they generate more heat.

    I'm trying to buy a GPU with memory errors for cheap to practice electronics repair. I found a local maker space where I can work. Hoping it just needs a reball but it looks like memory ICs aren't very expensive.
    I could really use some sort of troubleshooting guide and an idea of where to get board schematics. Also, do you have a list of the tools and programs you use for diagnostics? Your videos are helpful but I'm not going to figure out what I'm doing from those alone. I've studied electronic theory in the past but applying it to actual board repair is hardly straightforward.

    to all who wonder why he did it- i never done it but i can explain it:
    evga thermal pad are not normal thickness (2.75 mm for example) so many try to put thermal paste/glue in order to compensate for the thickness lost by the pad ( 2.5 mm+ thermal paste basiclly).
    in the past evga weere selling the pads but stoped- so that not an option even anymore.
    for thoes who say that thee user neeed to take care more- he actuually taking care of his harware more then the usual user by trying (unsucssefully) to replace the pad using the tool that can be bought online atm.
