Don’t know how my wife, daughter and I were able to walk past you without noticing it was you, but I saw us walk by in the background.
It was our first visit to a Disney park and we had such a great time and your videos helped A LOT!

It's true, the dining at Disneyland is just as important as going on the rides and seeing the shows! Plus, you've got to rest and refuel to use all of your time in the parks everyday of your trip! 😄

As a U. S. Government certified Old Fa..., ehr, Dude, I no longer have the need (or, frankly, the energy) to be an attraction commando anymore. Just roll slow and easy and savor that unique and glorious Disney vibe. [Does anyone other than Old Dudes still use the term 'vibe'?] A few rides here and there (and churros) are enough.

    • @tinarash7772

It used to be give me fast food for breakfast, Pinocchio restaurant for lunch, and popcorn for dinner with a churro snack in there too.
I don't think I could do that now, but reservations are not what Walt wanted.

Meat without the ham though 😅 our favorite place to eat in Disney is in the same area, but it’s more cafeteria style. I can’t remember the name of it, but they have a corn chowder in a bread bowl that’s to die for! 🤤

I found it to be a great place to grab the world famous Monte Cristo without having to suffer the lines (or prices) of Blue Bayou - and slightly less formal. The down side is you really do need a reservation like Blue Bayou (which still has the MC on the menu). Those that worry about the calories, fear not. You are going to be walking/standing all day long, and you are going to need extra calories to burn anyway. As a Diabetic, I don't find it to be a problem either as again you are balancing out with activity. I have only crashed with a low once in my DL experiences, and usually they are resolved by a nearby churro cart.

On my first and only visit to Disneyland Resort (thanks again, Kalifornia Kids), we had lunch at Cafe Orleans one of the days there. Earlier we had the Minnie and Friends breakfast buffet at the Plaza Inn (Teensy Sweety: the Next Generation loves her character meals) and I was still rather full, so I just got a cup of gumbo and we all shared a creme brulee for desert. However, they had arranged for me to fly in a couple of days earlier for some Old Dude solo time before they drove down from the Bay area; and I had a full late lunch at Blue Bayou Restaurant with the Monte Cristo sandwich (served with fruit). Yum! And then a ride on Pirates of the Caribbean.

The Three Cheese Monte Cristo looked good! BTW, if you have a reservation, you can Check In on the Disneyland app. You can also join the Walk-up waitlist on the app, too. Pre-pandemic, I used to visit Cafe Orleans at least once or twice per trip. I ate there after reopening and was very disappointed - and I haven't been back since. The Pomme Frites were no longer offered as an appetizer - only available as a side dish substitute. I usually ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The waiter offered the frites in place of the grits - I didn't want that - I like the grits. The waiter said that they didn't offer the frites as an appetizer anymore because a whole table of people would come in and order just the frites.

I hope to have a chance to use "500 peninsula" in conversation someday. You should work with a salad dressing company to make it a thing that I can buy in the market (because I absolutely WOULD buy it).
Meat monte cristo for me. I've had it a couple of times, once in the Blue Bayou and once at Café Orleans. I'm lactose intolerant and while I LOVE cheese, too much leads to...consequences. With the meat monte cristo, I'm fine since it's not a lot of cheese. Plus, I like meat. Give me that ham.
You know what I really miss, and I don't know if you remember this offering, but Harbor Galley across from the Haunted Mansion used to have Cajun popcorn shrimp with a Cajun sauce on the side that was SO delicious. It was like 2,000 inlets. I LOVED those, and am still sad that they are gone. They DO have the lobster roll now, which is very good, but...I miss the Cajun popcorn shrimp. I think it went away in the late 90s.

Aw man, that place is the worst. The short rib is rubbery, like bad chuck roast. The monte cristo is all batter with hardly any meat. Ohrs were undercooked and wet. It's awful. Seriously, Bennigans is waaay better. Even the fries were bland.
All 7 adults in our party were totally disappointed, especially with the price for what you get.
Love your vids, but we totally disagree on this one.

I remember pre pandemic, you got 4 quarters of the Monte Cristo sandwich. Now Chapek has cut all food portions but still the prices increase. Now you get 1/2 of what we used to get. Frites don't make up for the cut in portions as far as I'm concerned. Like your mom's earrings. Good show 👏!

Can i suggest a video on the D23 conference? I will be there and I really don't know what to expect. The tickets were expensive, but now I'm thinking it was a waste of money if we can listen to the conferences online later, or live. We will enjoy shopping--is there a lot of shopping? Are there booths? Is it easy to get in to see the booths and shopping? Or will we be waiting in line all day just to shop? We are really only interested in the big news, so which panel will we want to try to get into? We don't really want to see creators/directors, etc. Just the big news about the parks. Any inside info on any of this? Thank you in advance.
