I'm very excited about this series. I teach embedded systems and would love to extend my knowledge especially when it comes to high-speed digital techniques.
Looking forward to your next video.

Thanks for the encouragement. I would appreciate any suggestions, constructive criticism, etc. that you might be able to add. While I have taught graduate seminars and continuing education sessions and participated on the curriculum committee of my alma-mater, I have no experience in teaching a regular college class and your experience would be very helpful.

I hope both of you come together and make this course a reality 👊👊

Eric Bogatin: Signal Integrity: Simplified is a great book on signal and power integrity in modern high speed designs.

I love your videos - thank you very much! (I'm also a subscriber for sometimes now). I was looking for this scope, but I was not able to purchase it, because I wasn't sure which one to get - too many choices. But if you demo this scope, so I can "get it", including the 16 channel.... I'll give it a second look. I'm relearning what I forgot for 50+ years ago and in these days, learning new stuff is much slower....ha ha ha I love your ways of thinking and giving back to society and schools and beginners! That is very admirable and I'm sure many people feel the same way, even if they don't say it here.

Hopefully you like that scope, I got mine a month ago. [Redacted] and looking into the DIY LA dongles.

Amazon shows there's a newer edition of the last book (An Introduction...), in 2011. Would it be worth getting the newer version? Looks like well over 150 pages added. But very expensive ($200).

I do not have the 2nd Edition so I don't know whether it would be worth the cost. I suspect it would vary depending on the particular reader/researcher but perhaps other viewers have an opinion?

    It sounds super interesting! :-)
I have a super narrow and specific question that may properly only interest me:-)
Can the internal crystal be replaced / overwritten by my 10MHz frequency standard?
The scope you have there does not have possibility for external frequency standard, you have to get the MSO7000 series for that.
But is it possible to add that feature by yourself? I am hoping to make that scope synchronized with the rest of my gear?

I was not aware that the Rigol MSO/DS 7000 Series had the ability to input an external reference signal and I find no mention of it in the MSO/DS 7000 manual or data sheet. I do not know whether you could add such a feature but I would be interested in seeing comments by others who have more knowledge of the actual circuitry.

      @@tomtektest8042 Thanks a lot for answering! :-)
Do you think it's possible to build a "crystal-replacement" I mean a way to make the frequency standard send the signal to the board and make the electronic use that signal instead of the crystal? :-)

    • @tomtektest8042
      @tomtektest8042  3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@friedmule5403 I suppose anything is possible, but if you are asking whether I can help you do this I am afraid the answer is no, I don't feel qualified or informed enough to try it.

@@tomtektest8042 Of couch! I clearly understand that! :-) But if you ever open up your scope, maybe you could try to take a look at the crystal and how it works? Just so I have something to go towards, I do only own one scope so have no mean for measuring or the knowledge:-)
