  • Today we finished the gable ends on the log cabin, and put our old standby diesel/oil mixture on the entire log cabin for just about one dollar of diesel fuel. The used motor oil was, well in fact free!

    Cabin coming along nicely Tim, the footage at the intro and finish of the video is just beautiful, what a country, I sincerely hope that it recovers from the vicious virus that is taking a frightening toll on its people. Stay safe Tim.

    Thats a good looking cabin! Love the way the stain turned out. I'm going to try that recipe on my wood fence next time I stain it.

    Brilliant, I'd never seen that gable treatment before. Solves a potential problem, simple and looks good.

    Love the sprayer, I setup a schutzT spray gun and it works great, handles the heavy practicals very well, no plugging on the tip. Very nice job on the cabin.

    Looking great. I have a 1960 Chevy pickup with the factory original wood bed. The only reason it didn't rot away was because of the Diesel and used motor oil treatment's over the years.

    Coming along nicely! Amusing to see your drone get into a dogfight with swallows-at least that’s is what bird they appear to be. Reminds me of ww2 footage of b-17’s getting strafed by Messerschmitt 109’s. Your ranch land is just beautiful.

    • @GreatPlainsCraftsman

    Just curious why you stained this with the diesel/oil and then moved to Benjamin Moore for the timber frame. Pros/Cons? Thanks for your help!

  • @stephenayer8251
    @stephenayer8251 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think your twisted timber was more a result of where it was cut from the log than being green. The old timers would hue their timbers from the centre of the log giving straight vertical grain above and below the centre. But I realize you have work with what you have, great job keeping it to a minimum.

    Seems really good, how is it seem a little bit opened? I mixed with used engine oil with diesel 50/50 ratio. And got really a dark black colour. How did u achieve a opened colour like a stain sir?

  • @BrianTurnercali
    @BrianTurnercali 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you use 60 percent diesel and 40 percent oil? Also, does the stain bleed at all? (i.e. could it be used on a picnic table and not 'stain' someones pants?
