The big trout taking the fly again and again on that clean pristine river, the beautifully coloured char adding variety to the catch...the solitude of the landscape...that beautiful rainy day relaxing your eyes...the cold weather inviting you to drink a nice cup of comforting hot coffee...Carpe diem is the phrase: grab that moment of full pleasure in Nature.
I like how you guys were skating the dry flies. Really cool technique. And the Char were absolutely beautiful fish. Very entertaining video. Really nice to spend a day on the water fly fishing with one of your mates!
That char take @ 10:11 is awesome! Love how the drag of the fly made the fish chase it even more. Great video as always! Love the pairing and the guidance between both. I can see it was not just about who can catch the most or cast the best, but how can each support one another to catch fish.
absolutely love your videos! they help me get through the weeks and in between fishing. it really feels like i am there with you! much appreciation for you to take the time to make these beautiful videos.
Expert anglers and excellent camerawork... great video guys (and thank you for the translations)! What beautiful country and amazing fish. It's been a while since I've seen fishing like that! That take at 10:10 is something that I've tried to get on video for years... and you guys did it beautifully.
Hej igen!
You guys are fantastic. Especially to the eye of other fly fisherman like myself. Absolutely love it. Maybe you guys could travel to the U.S. and fly fish streams like the West Delaware or out in Colorado. Just a suggestion
Malaysia having pre-lockdown for two weeks, i almost watch repeatedly your videos here. It's really cheer me up everyday. At this point, i found at 15:03 music starts is my theraphy too. Nice music ! I hope you can put it in your spotify. I really like the music too. Great job !
Thank you for another great video - you have a real talent for capturing the romance of fly fishing! I would love to know what weight fly rods were in use and what leaders/tippets were used? Maybe what size flies as well? I am new to the game and it would help me a lot to know. All the best to you and keep up the great work.
Thanks. Glad you enjoy the video :) For the small stream we are using wt 3-4 equipment. For the swampy lake wt 4-5 and for the bigger char in the end a wt 6 is perfect. Regarding the tippet we use 0.12-0.16 mm when we are using small flies and when the water is clear. If the water is a bit muddy and/or if it's very rapid you can use thicker tippet, typically around 0.18-0.20 mm. For the big char with wt 6 rod we normally use tippets around 0.18-0.20 mm as well. Sometimes even up to 0.22 mm. If the conditions are windy it's hard to cast a light line so then it's often a good idea to use a little bit heavier lines than you'd normally use. Regarding the size of the fly it's really hard to give any recommendations. We always try to mimic the insects hatching at the moment so it all comes down to how big they are. In this specific video there are lots of caddis hatching and some of them are rather big. I would say that typically, in this type of fishing (brown trout and arctic char) we use flies around size 12-16. If the fish are picky we go down to size 18 or even 20 (and especially if they are feeding on mosquitos, gnats or midges). The most important part is to watch and try to figure out what the fish are eating at the moment. Tight lines
I can't get a good enough look at those pretty yellow bellied fish with silver grey backs? Doesn't have the markings of a brown. Is that some kind of char? I don't see the tell tale "wormy markings," at least from I think I don't. Thanks for sharing your'e adventures. Nice to see native wild browns. They are loved everywhere they have been stocked, but that's"home," correct? We have some great brown trout in Oregon.
Thanks David. Glad you enjoy the videos :) These are pure wild fish indeed. In this video we catch both brown trout and arctic char. Maybe it's the char (with red to orange bellies) you mean. Cheers
Love your videos! My wife and I are fans. You all should consider offering guide services for people traveling to Sweden! If/when you do, you'd have our business!
It's a cdc and elk (or maybe a streaking caddis). It looks a bit more white in the video than it actually is. I think you can find lots of tying instructions for this type of fly on the tube :) Cheers
Hi. Ive watched the Lapland dreams videos many time over the last few years. They are wonderful for escaping every day life. Was the footage filmed in the same location on the same trip or different locations? Also, was this a different place to the “trip of a lifetime “ video in the same location? Thanks for sharing these. I think you said you’d stop making videos to focus on fishing. Hope you’re catching loads.
This is an amazing first episode ! Ooooo my god the mosquitoes !!!! How do you do ?Maybe a miracle product to suggest ? Again thanx for sharing, can't wait for the episode II ! :)
Thanks Rom. Glad you like the video :) Well the mosquitoes are really quite manageable. When it's getting too heavy we use a repellent called Bushman, from Australia. Cheers
So at 2:22 is that just a small brown or a char? Sure looks like a different species Lacks that spots of a brown and the red and wormy markings of a char. It's a difficult camera angle to ascertain...Maybe young char don't develop the brilliant red colors?
Thanks. Glad you like the video :) No, they are not spawning. That comes a month or two later. These fish varies in color from water to water. As you can see the char in the stream are more orange in color. The arctic char are often brightly colored all year around. Cheers
Hej Oscar. Klass 3-4. Ha de gott
I love your videos! Trout Heaven 3 is still top on my list of all fly fishing videos i have seen. We plan a trip to Lapland. Which period would you recommend to visit? What are the things to watch out if we want to be successful? thanks in advance!
Hi Kristof. Glad you like the videos :) I would recommend to go there in July. You could contact one of the helicopter operators in the area. They know where to find the best fishing and can bring you there for a reasonable amount of money. Cheers
Sista veckan Juli?

What is that for a bright white fly you are using at 9:30? Do have a name or even a tying instruction for it?

Another awesome video! Were the Char spawning or are they always so brightly coloured?
Thanks. Glad you like the video :) No, they are not spawning. That comes a month or two later. These fish varies in color from water to water. As you can see the char in the stream are more orange in color. The arctic char are often brightly colored all year around. Cheers

Any advice on how to arrange a trip up to that part of the world?
You could start with contacting one of the helicopter companies and ask them for advice. There are plenty up there and you can easily find them on your favorite search engine :) Cheers
Time to start looking! Thanks
This whole part of the world was irradiated by Chernobyl and I don't think the Laplanders or Sweden got so much as an apology.
You might be right Jim. I don't think it's that bad though :) Cheers
Thats why the fish are so big!
What wt rods are youse using there
We are using mainly wt 4 rods. For the big char in the end it's a wt 6 rod. Cheers

Hej .

Carpe Diem ok. Då förstår jag. Något speciellt märke/person som gjort de?
Kommer tyvärr inte ihåg detta :(

Mainly different caddis patterns; CDC & Elk, Elk Hair Caddis and a few caddis pupa imitations.
