Thank you! This is perfect! I had the pleasure of visiting Ghana 4 months ago and married my African Queen! I will be returning in May and I will be more fluent in Twi thanks to your lessons. I will also visit KFC this time around...lol. Thanks! 😁
I was born in the States but I have family from Ghana. I definitely appreciate this wisdom...there is an awakening in the States where more of us are trying connect with Africa (not just the Kemetian aspect of it) and this definitely helps. much appreciated ma'am 🙏🙏🙏 peace unto you and yours
Grand rising and Grand Awakening Brother. Yes we are awakening. I learned that Ghana has dual citizenship for Americans born citizens. Its time to learn the language of our people. We Black Americans have been cheated out of our own languages from the Mother Continent. We must learn so that we can begin to take back our culture.
I like the Twi which is so cool to learn one of our ancestry African language. I was born in Canada, my parents from Jamaica but I remember reading a Jamaican history book that about 80% of Black Jamaicans come from Ghana mostly the Fanti & Ashanti and I had opportunity to visit Ghana two times but I admitted that I not fluent in the Twi language.
This is so cool. I'm Irish. My grandad was Ghanaian and he always tried teaching me Twi but I was too little to get it and understand. I think he would be so happy I'm watching this. Rest in Peace Grandad Kofi xx
don't rag on us African Americans lol...... we born here in this United States are perpetually researching from whence we hail. Our true origin and that of people in color in general is constantly skewed. They would have us to believe that our only story began in slavery, and everything european is the knowledge and creative essence. So we dig and search for the truth. Not just for our own individual existence, but that for all people of color. I love Ghana, I felt so at peace there. The problem is as black Americans, we do have to learn how to accept our place of birth, while simultaneously appreciating the birth place of all civilization. I know every time I go to Ghana , I never want to get on the plane to come home . I love the different languages. Your page was recommended to learn Twi. I would like to learn Ewe as well. When I came each time, I was the only one who needed a translator. Mostly everyone else was Ewe. Thanks for teaching and sharing your culture. I love your videos
Absolutely brilliantly done! Thank you so much. My ancestors were from Ghana from the comorrantee tribe (Akan) my grandfather in Jamaica passed this information to my mother. I want to learn the language as English is all I know. I think definitely a trip is required to my motherland.
I'm actually also an African American(half white/half black) and I just did 23& me and I"m trying to piece things together for myself right now. I was told the main part of my blackness is from Ghana, Liberia and Serria Leone so here I am! Happy to be here! :)
I am Darius. I am a Liberian and I will love to learn how to speak Twi fluently. I spend 9 years in Ghana as a kid but grew up in the Liberian Community where I spoke and listened to English and my mother's dialect.
First of all I just want to say you are gorgeous n thank u for taking time out of your busy schedule to teachers us TWI I'm not from Ghana but boyfriend from Ghana and this is a big help
Thank you so much for this, I am Ghanaian but my parents never taught me twi and I always felt left out of my culture. So videos like really help with helping people like me learn our language.
I'm Brazilian and I probably have no Ghanaian decent but I LOOOOOVE Ghanaians and everything Ghana. I'm obsessed, thank you for the lesson I need to bring out my inner Ghanaian! Btw, you're so beautiful 😍😍
Pedro Lisboa Not true. You probably do dear. Im Guyanese (North of Brazil) and just found out I'm descended from Ashanti Ghana Tribe. Most of the slaves in Suriname and Guyana come from there and Brazil also. Slaves from Congo went to Brazil as well. You may not look African but I GUARANTEE you that you are descended. You know the history. We 'Latinos' all are mixed with Amerindian, African, and Portuguese/Spanish heritage.
If that's her on the picture she can not be dont say silly things. in south america it exist a big part of mixed people like it exist also pure amerindians, pure white people, and pure black people. Me and you we are black but if she have no one black ancestors she cant be from ghana. And in suriname enslaved african was principaly from different tribes of Ghana (ewe, fante, brong, asante, ahafo, etc), different tribes of Dahomey (ewe, fon), different tribes of Nigeria (igbo,ife...) and a little bit of Kongo and angola. in brasil the major part of enslaved africans was from angola, kongo, dahomey(fon), nigeria (yoruba), with a little bit of ghana too.
My Ghanaian fiancé is teaching me Twi. I’m super excited, I’ve learned the days of the week a couple of months ago and we stopped! I’m going to surprise him with a word!😊👍🏾
Chale this video was sweet! One of the many things I've appreciated about Ghanians is the pride in their country and culture(s). I only knew about three words in twi, but now I know so much more! You are absolutely correct about appreciating our cultures/languages. It's a little hard for me being from 4 different tribes, but I've started learning a few words from my paternal grandfather's tribe, you inspire to continue learning more. Happy Independence Ghana!
Thank you I am just starting. I really love your videos. Yes it is fast Thank you for your help us learn our ancestral language. Love you peace and one love. Thanks.
Ok!!! So glad that I found your beautiful channel!!! My boyfriend is Ghanaian and lives in Ksi. He is such a wonderful man to me...A wonderful son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, friend, etc. HE'S JUST WONDERFUL! lol. He is a GEO major at KNUST and is scheduled to graduate in June. In conversations past, he and I have discussed my ancestry and my desire to be majority Ghanaian. lol. Sooo...he spoke with his parents, and they would like his grandmother to "induct" me into their Ghanaian family!!! How sweet is that?!! Is that common or customary in Ghana? I just love my Ghanaian man!
I chose to study abroad this summer to Ghana working with children but since corona started, gives me more time to study Twi for next year, so I love this channel and your energy!
I am a first generation American born from a West Indian family (Guyana). I've heard people say "Black Americans don't know their ancestry/history" and "They don't have culture." As an American, I say we do and it's black culture in the U.S, the one that is 'trendy' and a lot of people of all nations want to emulate. Unfortunately, we had to create this culture because our history has been erased. But, I have also acknowledged and embraced my parent's culture as well. I asked my grandfather where our ancestors are from and he too said, "...from the Ashanti tribe in Ghana." Since then, I wanted to understand the language in every way. Thank you for taking the time to teach the language!
I'm 50% Ghanaian (Fante) ... My Mom is American and My Father is from Elmina and I'm trying to learn a few phrases when I meet my GH relatives. Your video has helped me alot.
I'm going to have to watch your videos every day! I'm so tired of being clowned for not being able to converse in Twi when I go to Ghana. Thanks so much for sharing
I met a Ghanaian Goddess online. I impress her with my minimal amount of twi. By the time i pay her way here I'll be able to conduct a decent conversation in at least the greeting. Thanks
+goldcoastdebuty Nothing at all, I have found a spot here in Houston. A couple from Ghana run it........its about 45 minutes away, but I drive there often for waakye and peanut butter soup , I even had them cater a party I was doing....it was Awesomeness!!!
I'm glad you found me my ghanaian sis! This video is perfect. I always have friends asking me to teach them some twi, so next time I might as well just show your video! xx
My boyfriend lives in Ghana and I live in America (Florida) and I really wanted to learn his language!! Thanks for this tutorial it really helped😊 I'm moving on to Part 2 now!
I'm a Diasporian African and I've been trying to stick to an African language to study and learn. I believe that Africans in Diaspora should learn an African language, with that being said I decided to learn Twi! I found this video helpful in reviewing basic phrases! I plan to visit Ghana one day so I'm preparing by learning Twi. Medaase Paa! 🇬🇭
Lol I took a DNA test and was connected to my family from Ghana that were here in the states through AncestryDNA he also took the test we had a very high family DNA probability and matched the same 2 great grandparents. My great grandmother lives here with me in NY and has dementia so I took the test because she can't confirm anything. Anyway we are connected on the maternal side and have been talking frequently like long lost cousins we are. Anyway don't knock the test or mixture it's hard to take the leap and learn something new that is essentially who you are. You're page is great and I am a new subbie!
Give your great grandmother two tablespoons of organic coconut oil in the morning and at night and also fish oil for omega 3. This will bring here back to health and her mind. Also rub some rosemary oil on her scalp. I wish you well. Shalom family.
Eiiii ma sister mmbo na ye. Waaye adea✋✋👏👏. Right On point And a lot covered on this lesson.more videos like this so that we can help lot pple who are are willing to learn the GH twi language.
You are so sweet!!! I love your video! I have recently started working with a Ghanian girl, she's amazing. oh, bring on tomorrow's shift gonna surprise her with all these crazy words :D
I want to learn two..it sounds beautiful to my my ears. Plus I'm African American and yes I understand some African ppl don't see us as African. That's alright though. It is difficult for us because we're so mixed up with several tribes. I want to do the DNA test and whatever my results are....which ever percentage is higher I'll say that's what I am. Why make it so confusing? Lol.
Hey sis! Thanks Ooo. I hope these lessons help you to learn 😊😊😍..... I personally still regard African Americans are Africans. I guess it's just difficult on your part to find out exactly where you are from, but I do realise these DNA tests help to at least give you an idea of which part of Africa you are from.
T B Sister we are Africans. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re not African. All so-called African Americans are Africans. Being kidnapped and brought to America didn’t change who we fundamentally are. If they kidnapped Chinese or Asians and brought them to America they would still be Chinese or Asian. That’s just the truth.
As someone who was born in Ghana but raised in America. I feel ashamed because of some of my cousins who are the same age and who were born in the same situation can speak Twi well. My parents have tried teaching me but I can only understand what they are saying and not speak Twi well. So thank you for this video, I can't wait to surprise my parents and grandpa.
Awwww, dont be too hard on yourself . The fact that you can understand is already a huge thing. Just take time to work on your pronunciations, listen to Ghanaian radio stations.. Watch shows like.. Delay, McBrown's Kitchen and work on saying the words. Watch my videos.. Check out LearnAkan here on TH-cam too.. You will be a pro in no time 😊💚💕
I’m Jamaican my great grandmother is a maroon warrior unfortunately I never got to meet her I feel like I lost a great deal of history. I learned maroons are descendants of the Ashanti tribe I want to learn can you do the alphabet ?
Hey sis! That's really unfortunate that you couldn't meet her, I'm sure she has a lot is stories and history to pass down to you. I have done the alphabets. Look through my Twi playlist! Thanks for watching😁
As a child I spoke okay Twi but I could hold a conversation since people don't say much to children (I guess) but when we moved from Ghana my mom tried to keep it up but I didn't want to learn it (I was five when we moved I think) but now i know why it's so important to know your culture's language. I am twelve now. I am Ghanaian mostly from my mom's side and tiny bit Asian (I think it was Pakistani on my dad's side because of his mother) but I only speak English. Could you help me more? I remember little like "ko" "meh" "Daabi" "Medase" but I want to be able to speak to my grandma who can't speak English (so Native level?). If someone says "ko" I know it means to go, and sometimes my sister says "ko" because she speaks fluent Twi or I'll hear my mom on the phone and though I don't understand her since I can't hear the person she's talking to I pick up "Daabi" here and there. I hope you reply, Medase! :)
oooohh Girl!! That's a mix I haven't heard of you know! Ghanaian/ Pakistani!! "Ko" is definitely go...and "bra" is come..."bra ha" is come here. I will definitely do another one, so get back to me as soon as you can if you have specific twi words and phrases you want to know wai!! Medase for watching 😊😊
If you have a Skype or something I'd love to chat and try to speak to you in Twi, I think my mother gave up on me though lol. I need someone I can speak to to practice, so I'd appreciate if you could help. My Skype is Crazii_Zee Thank you in advance and for the video :D P.S. About the race thing I checked with my mom and I'm mostly Ghanian (and generally all types of black people I guess) and some white (not Pakistani :p) because my grandma is Caucasian. Just to clear that up, but I do know some Pakistani/black girls but they look Pakistani so the mix does exist! -Zayn
i’ve tried many times to learn twi as i am half ghanaian but it’s never really stuck with me over the years but this video has helped a lot and it was only ten minutes long lmao medase ❤️
I'm only 12 but like I went to Ghana Fest recently and people were asking me things I knew some from my mother and my father and african movies (love them) and I was like in my head "I NEED TO KNOW MY CULTURES LANGUAGE!!!"

African Ancestry is a great option. Try are Black-owned and operated and they don't sell your DNA like other companies.
Wow. I knew about African Ancestry but not about the DNA selling part..they just make money however they can smh
I love this language
kakra kakra will be my most used phrase from now on til I learn Twi lol. This was great, I loved it! Happy independence ❤️

Enrique Jaramillo Twi is a difficult language
Nice lesson
You will be a pro in no time 😊💚💕
@@missgoldtwi2482 Thank you.

Glad to help 😊
I’m Jamaican my great grandmother is a maroon warrior unfortunately I never got to meet her I feel like I lost a great deal of history. I learned maroons are descendants of the Ashanti tribe I want to learn can you do the alphabet ?
Hey sis! That's really unfortunate that you couldn't meet her, I'm sure she has a lot is stories and history to pass down to you.
I have done the alphabets. Look through my Twi playlist!
Thanks for watching😁
You made it fun.
Medase for watching 😊😊
goldcoastdebuty I know bra ha, my sister says that too. I found a know a lot of the basics, just not enough to get too far. :P
If you have a Skype or something I'd love to chat and try to speak to you in Twi, I think my mother gave up on me though lol. I need someone I can speak to to practice, so I'd appreciate if you could help. My Skype is Crazii_Zee
Thank you in advance and for the video :D
P.S.
