As Doctor Erskin said about the serum "Good becomes great" and Peggy was good before but as Captain Carter she became even better. The serum took all she knew as a trained soldier and magnified it!! This episode went nothing like I expected and I loved it; all the little differences and the big ones were so good. I love bad ass female leads and Captain Carter was it!!!! I also love how it was just something as simple as Peggy's choice of not going back to the booth that created this story, confirming what the TVA said that even getting to work late causes nexus events and branch timelines. The multiverse is here and I am in it for the long haul
Yeah, in the "Agent Carter" they had some really badass fight scenes with her. She was already a hand-to-hand monster. Combine that with super-soldier serum and she's amazing to watch.
I love how Steve without the serum still charged the Hydra spy without question, just as he did when he took the serum. Shows that his true greatness did not come from the serum.
It makes sense Howard Stark and Varick seem alike since both of them are based on Howard Hughes (who was also partially the original inspiration for 1960s Tony Stark) :-)
But everything was already canon, seriously the MCU is Earth-199999, heck the real world is a part of the multiverse. Every Marvel product has their own Earth.

This tracks with SHIELD being formed in the 50’s (vs the 1946 setting of the One-Shot) and the showrunners saying that the series would end with Peggy running SHIELD. -The other possibility is to insert an artificial time jump into the One-Shot. The first 7:40 happens before the series, she then ends up back at Flynn’s office for some unknown reason and the rest of the One-Shot plays out as-is. Either way, there’s some offscreen events taking place that need to be inserted to fully explain how it fits. But between the footage in the series and, now, Flynn appearing in What If?, its clear that it fits somehow.

I'm speculating that popular/well-received episodes might get sequels, but beyond that this first episode also feels like a possible setup for something more than just a possible sequel episode with her as a part of the events from The Avengers. It wouldn't surprise me if these What Ifs culminate into some kind of team-up event featuring a multiversal team. There's the obvious fit for this Peggy amongst the Captain Britain Corps but thematically that's restrictive. We've had S.H.I.E.L.D. and now we also have S.W.O.R.D. This could introduce a version of A.R.M.O.R. (Alternate Reality Monitoring and Operational Response) and they could want their own version of the Avengers maybe. A.R.M.O.R. have butted heads with Marvel Zombies a bunch and we know this show is gonna have some of those. Isn't speculation fun?

I think Season 1 ends with the Guardians of the Multiverse forming. Technically the entire show is canon, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some parts of “What If…?” ends up affecting the prime MCU. I feel like some of these characters will be in Multiverse of Madness, which will basically be No Way Home on steroids. This might even be the show when Strange discovers the multiverse branches. I could see something like the universe where Killmonger saves Tony gets destroyed & he winds up in our universe for Wakanda Forever, possibly to become BP.
I remember from the animated "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" show in the episode that introduced Captain America that he and Bucky were attacking a Hydra base/castle where Red Skull was and he was trying to do something similar with opening up an interdimensional portal. So either that's just a concept from the comics that I don't know about (I'm not a big Marvel comics nerd. Like 90%-95% of my Marvel knowledge has come from the MCU or research I've done for movies and characters showing up in the MCU that I know nothing about), or the same concept/action sequence showing up in this episode was a call back to that Marvel animated show.

Tentacle monster was likely the monster at the start of GoTG 2 or Shuma-Gorath (classic Dr Strange villain). Josh Keaton did a good job as a Chris Evans sound-alike. Two confirmed seasons of 9 episodes each (reduced from 10 to 9 due to Covid). Congrats on 500K subs!
Hive was created for Agents of Shield and has no basis in comics. And since Feige wants nothing to do with AoS and will never acknowledge it, I wasn't expecting it to be him. It was most likely Shuma-Gorath.
There is a possibility of them making agents of shield canon or bringing back some of the characters from what I read up on. Also Chloe Bennett dropped out of a project due to scheduling conflicts it’s possible she could be joining secret invasion because Quake has such a large part in the comics, just a hope tho 👀👀

It's just me, but I'd think the only reason she'd drop out of the potential fan fave role as a live-action Power Puff Girl would be to return as Quake. I actually disagree, thematically sure Steve becoming the Winter Soldier would’ve been cool, but a world without the Winter Soldier is much more different and interesting than the main time line. Remember the Winter Soldier was active for decades doing assassinations of people, so what would the world be like without that happening. Same with Howard getting the tesseract and using it as a substitute arc reactor, that made an iron man literally decades earlier.
I like how everyone who's seen this episode has talked about how violent Peggy is compared to Steve. When I specifically remember Steve throwing a guy even if it was accidental into a plane's TURBINE. And they showed what happened. Luckily special effects weren't as good as they are now
agent carter (underrated marvel series) has 2 seasons and its pretty close to this, just post world war 2 and no super soldier serum, but the feel and characterisation is the same
She’s probably this strong because of her physical strength before the transformation, Steve was really weak before the serum so that makes her crazy strength more believable

The portal looked like it opened to the Cancerverse with Eldritch Gods on the other side, I somehow doubt it was Maveth. Hive is a member of Hydra in the comics but he isn't the champion. The logo is a parody of Spectre from James Bond more than being connected to him.
When I first saw the tentacles I thought "Oh shit Shuma-Gorath!" but alas it wasn't. :D I can't wait to see more What ifs. This episode just set a bench mark for the quality of stories we should expect from this series. :)

I assumed the giant squid monster is *Shuma-Gorath* from the comics. He's been rumored to be the main villain in *Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness* , so it kinda makes sense I guess
Season One was supposed to have 10 episodes, but due to COVID & lack of time to animate, S1E10 is now S2E1, and one episode of Season 2 has been scrapped. So both S1 & S2 of _What If...?_ are nine episodes apiece.
Yeah I honestly don't remember Howard super well in the movie but in this he was hilarious and really reminded me of Varrick. Which Howard, Tony and Varrick are all based on Howard Hughes I believe so it makes sense they are similar.
Hive DOES exist in the comics and this version is actually closer to the Red Skull original intentions as well. Imho this was a variant of Hive so to speak, just as Alveus was a variant of Hive as well.

I like how everyone who's seen this episode has talked about how violent Peggy is compared to Steve. When I specifically remember Steve throwing a guy even if it was accidental into a plane's TURBINE. And they showed what happened. Luckily special effects weren't as good as they are now

agent carter (underrated marvel series) has 2 seasons and its pretty close to this, just post world war 2 and no super soldier serum, but the feel and characterisation is the same

She’s probably this strong because of her physical strength before the transformation, Steve was really weak before the serum so that makes her crazy strength more believable
that and her overall experience in the field also greatly surpassed steve.

The portal looked like it opened to the Cancerverse with Eldritch Gods on the other side, I somehow doubt it was Maveth. Hive is a member of Hydra in the comics but he isn't the champion. The logo is a parody of Spectre from James Bond more than being connected to him.
SO many Legend of Korra vibes throughout, that's probably part of why I had a big smile on the whole way through this first episode.

Did you guys not watch the promo vid? There's the classic "Avengers in a circle" shot--but it's people from the various _What-If_ storylines. Same people appear prominently on the poster they put out. So yeah, they're putting together an Alt-Avengers.

Yeah I honestly don't remember Howard super well in the movie but in this he was hilarious and really reminded me of Varrick. Which Howard, Tony and Varrick are all based on Howard Hughes I believe so it makes sense they are similar.

Hive DOES exist in the comics and this version is actually closer to the Red Skull original intentions as well. Imho this was a variant of Hive so to speak, just as Alveus was a variant of Hive as well.

Capt Carter with a sword and shield! Very Wonder Woman Marvel. She does turn up in the next Dr Strange film. Did you notice the spooky Disney castle with Hydra emblems all over it? It's interesting that there are certain actors they couldn't get back to do their voiceovers.
