Disney doesn't own the majority of the parks in Japan. Japan seems to really care about their parks and the cities. Sadly the United States and Disney don't seem to care about things the way Japan does. The people are so respectful over there as caompared to here. I love your videos and you 2 make me smile watching them. I hope to run into you both someday. Until then I will always keep watching.

I get a sense that the Oriental Land Company just pays a licensing fee to use Disney IPs and they just do their own things.

Japan does everything better regarding packaging and presentation. For example, in my grocery store's international food section, even just plain noodles are trimmed and perfectly aligned in the package and wrapped in portions with paper bands.

@@BernardManansalayou are correct it’s a licensing agreement with OLC. The resort is not owned by Disney. I was a cast member at Disney and it’s the park we cannot get into free because it’s not owned by the Walt Disney Company

Imagineering still creates the Disney parks in Japan, but yeah OLC does a better job of maintaining it all and I think the Japanese crowds are more considerate and less destructive and also all the rides have sponsors to pay for upgrades and maintenance

@@OrdinaryAdventuresWhen you watch the ‘Behind The Attractions’ shows, the Imagineers flat out say that the Asian parks (specifically Japan) the OLC said to build the attractions like they would have wanted to if there was an unlimited budget.
      So they did!

This makes me feel so good. To know that someone, somewhere, truly cares about preserving the magical experience that was Disneyland. In 10 years I’ll take my daughter, once she’s old enough to appreciate it. Until then she can put up with the ever declining Disney experiences that we have stateside. The Disney company need to be better stewards of what was left to them, for their sake and ours.

So much fun! It's really interesting how the international parks randomly alternate between English and their native language! It's also interesting how Tokyo has the earlier version of things that had been changed in the US parks. Oh, BTW- WDW never had Stitch in the Enchanted Tiki Room, they actually had a version called "Under New Management" which featured Zazu from The Lion King and Iago from Aladdin. I worked there for a bit as a CM about 20 years ago. It got a lot of flack, but I always thought it was fun- it was the first version of the show that I saw. I never got around to going to Disneyland's Tiki Room as a kid. Stitch actually makes more sense with the tropical theme though! Under New Management was there for many years...they finally switched it back to a version of the original show several years ago after one of the Iago audio-animatronics caught on fire.

21:20 There used to be a law in Japan where any railway with more than 1 stop had to follow regulations like collecting a fare or having the train cars enclosed. To avoid having to follow regulations it was made with only one stop. That's also the reason why the monorail in tokyo disney collects a fare as it has multiple stops.

It was a simple mantra when I worked at WDW in the late nineties, exceed guest expectations. Ensure every guest had an excellent experience. Those core values permeated the resort. It is clear that is still the goal in Tokyo. Food prices were more aligned with much higher quality. As a cast member making $7.80 and hour, I could afford to eat in the parks. That would not be possible today even with a cast member discount.

When they were building Tokyo Disneyland back in the 80s, the Oriental Land Company excutives basically went on a shopping trip to the American parks, picking the best attractions, and the best versions, for their park. Hence why the Haunted Mansion is like a mix of both American versions. Also, the railroad doesn't have multiple stations because Japanese regulation would dictate they have to charge a separate feet for it. To avoid that they just made it a ride with a single station.

But also, no surprise personally that the tonkatsu curry there gets five stars. Really, even the most standard tenderized pork cutlet smothered in a good curry sauce found in Japan I'm sure will put so many other imported versions to shame. Not sure if it was mentioned, but Stitch’s Tiki Room, is a Japanese exclusive. It was never available in the US. What you are thinking of is the “Under New Management” version with Zazu and Iago. It made a lot more sense because they were both birds, but I could see how the pair might be annoying. It was also modernized with newer songs.
What a lot of people don’t know is that Stitch actually had his own animé series. Apparently when Lilo grew up, Stitch decided to leave Hawaii and live with some other island girl, only this was a Japanese island. And for some reason, all the aliens followed him. One episode, the girl ends up going to Disneyland. Stitch was suppose to go with her, but missed his flight. He runs back home, and steals a ship that Jumba was still working on. He ends up crashing right into the Tiki Room, and somehow gets paint on him, tracking it all over the kingdom, which is why you see both the crashed ship and the paint buckets.

I just recently found out that the Japanese love putting corn in pizza. Personally as an Iowan corn is sacred and to me it does not belong in anything. Just cook it and add some butter and salt before eating. It is really sad that the old Toontown in Disneyland is no more, but it still being around in Tokyo makes me very happy. Plus it's in such great condition!

Corn on pizza is a big Japanese thing and I honestly love it! My favorite was the mayo corn pizza at Gusto (or Ga-su-to if you translate the Japanese phonetically) ((also it’s Japanese mayo which makes a big difference - I would not eat a pizza with American mayo 😂). Oh my god, all of the dancers’ costumes in the parade were gorgeous!! New dream job unlocked: dancer at Tokyo Disney 😂 that curry looks amazing!!! Y’all have really re-inspired my desire to go back to Japan and then save up the extra money to go to Disney. Thank you so much again for sharing your journey with us! It’s been so special. P.S. Omg the shot of the train from the boat was so gorgeous 😍😭

I'm doing what I said I should have done last video, commenting as I go. I've had a very busy stressful day at work today (Intel), was so excited to see a video of yours. Back to the video. Kitra, you don't need a stylist, your style is on point! Their Toon Town was amazing! I remember when you weren't a ears girls, glad you're on board now.. Love the new ears. Oh my goodness, an Up float, and Moana, Tangled, and Coco!! Toooooo freaking cute. Come on Disneyland, lets do this! I love the customized luggage tags, I want some please. Love the ending song! Oh and the whole video! Thanks for sharing!

FYI you can easily find House Foods brand curry at Asian markets here in the US. I'm not sure if it's the exact same recipe as what you can find at Tokyo Disneyland but I imagine it will be very similar.

@@OrdinaryAdventures I've never had Tokyo Disneyland's curry (someday!) so I'm not sure, but the Vermont Curry they have is one of my favorites for make-at-home curry. Also, House Foods owns the Coco Ichibanya curry restaurant chain and I know they have a few locations in SoCal (and Hawaii, as another commenter said) so you can compare.

I've watched all of your Tokyo Disney vids and some about Hong Kong Disneyland, and I'm impressed. I'm hoping that the comparison (pseudo-competition) will allow and encourage Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom at WDW to realize they need to make things better. I know I'm never going to get that far out, not just from budgetary concerns, but because I'd really want to speak the language in order to hear everything going on. Also, there's so much at the domestic Disney parks that I have not seen, especially to which I haven't take my kids and grandkids.
Which brings me to another point. I really enjoyed watching your Japan series, but I've also been watching a few of your older videos, mainly because I realize that I also enjoy watching your reactions, that you are fun and entertaining to watch. Keep up the good work.
