I find tiki so fascinating as a culture. I always used to see tiki bars and think gimmicky drinks used to hide cheap liquor. After watching channels like yours and many others, I have been amazed at how deep the rabbit hole goes, and how amazingly advanced some of the combinations and flavors can get.
Ive been slowly starting to make cocktails as of lately (cause shits expensive) and this is now on my “things to make” list. I made the painkiller from your painkiller video and it was delicious. Love these videos!
Going back to gin tiki, try a Nomad, sir. PITA ingredient list, lol. I agree that the Tropical Standard version of Navy Grog is amazing. Perfectly balanced.
Not Derek and I'm replying 3 months after your comment lol but given the high sugar content (66 brix) I would say you could probably push it 5-6+ months in your fridge. This syrup is similar in execution and brix to Tropical Standard's original grog concentrate, and I've got a bottle of that in my fridge that's at least 4 and a half months old and it has no sign of spoilage and tastes amazing still. I wouldn't keep any syrup of any kind at room temp in general.
Thanks for this one! I'm out to get some Rotham & Winter Orchard Peach liqueur. I have had so much trouble finding a good peach liqueur. Most are either just sugar or taste like cough syrup. I tried the Mathilde a long time ago and it is awful(probably on the shelf too long). Maybe a peach liqueur review? If you haven't already done one.
Hi Derek, really love the look of this, but my normal question... I can't have grapefruit because of my hypertension medication. Is there something that would work as a substitute? Great work as always 👍
I’d just use lime or lemon instead. Especially when we have an acid adjusted cocktail. You’re going to miss out on the flavor of grapefruit, but you’ll get the gist of it.
I think if we go with a southern flair, acid adjusted watermelon juice sounds really good as a replacement. It would be a different flavor profile, and may completely not work, but it might be amazing too
As crazy as it may sound -- have you tried using a scaled-down Paper Plane? Seeing as it's commonly agreed upon to taste like "boozy grapefruit juice", it might at least be worth a try...
I'll have to look for a cream soda with sugar as a sweetener. The Coca-Cola syrup is fine if you use Mexican Coke, but I'm not really interested in putting high fructose corn syrup in my cocktails.
Yeah but is it the ratio or the flavor? To me ratios are irrelevant. Everything is to taste and not about quantity. 1/4 of this peach liqueur will make anything taste like peach, IMO.

I can't believe its been a year since the acid adjuster video - that was what made me start watching your channel. Thanks for a year of great content!
Your acid adjuster solution is a genius innovation that has changed my cocktail game over the last year. Cheers, and thanks
Thank you!
that peach liqueur is great, I already have it for making fish house punch so it’s always nice to see another use for it
Genius idea!! Love this idea (and Tropical Standard!)
Thanks!
Thanks so much!
Great, now I can try to get my mitts on a cream soda here in Germany... 😜🥂
Does sound like a great drink. I have home made peach liqueur that should be perfect here.

When I get back from vacation this will be the first new thing to try out :-)
how long does acid adjuster last?
Amaizing tiki cocktail.

How long does the grog concentrate last? Is it shelf stable?

Perfect. I know what I'll be drinking at the weekend 😂!

Sprite and gin grog next?
When you add the sugar do you take into account the sugar in the soda?
Yes it's accounted for.
Wheres the Dr Pepper version?
🤔
Can you help me with making it a 1 gallon version
Were you going to post a link to the Acid Adjuster recipe video in the Doobly Doo?
Wow, that a fancy drink. With only 10% peach-based ingredients, I don't know if it qualifies as tasting like peaches and cream.
Did the peach flavor not come through for you?
@@makeanddrink Hands down, you're the expert, but I prefer a little more peach liquor to rum ratio.

I'm a sucker for anything with stonefruit🤌
