From Wikipedia: The song "Nuclear" deals with his grandfather's experiences during World War I. “I never knew him... It turned out he was a great character before the war but came home a very different man...I travelled around Ypres and the battlefield museums and I saw the graves of his regiment: the Royal Munster Fusiliers. And I could feel it. Still there.” This track is sung by Luke Spiller, who sung all the songs on the 2014 album Man on the Rocks
It really depends on how we take care of our planet. If we make a mistake. That mistake could lead to a nuclear war. And it won't be like FallOut. The radiation will affect us and other animals causing wierd effects to happen. We may die through the radiation. But we need a type of radiation to understand if we can survive or not
A strange song. It is about two different things at the same time. On one hand you have the deeper emotional parts and at the same time you have a nuclear apocalypse. Yet it still fits together.
it makes sense actually, like Garrett said "One causes the other". the song speak of a nuclear apocalypse, and after seeing all the devastation and desolation after the conflict, it fills a person with grief and regret, for all the damage done and all the lives that were lost.
The song is actually about Mike Oldfield’s grandfather that actually fought in World War 1. I think the “a heart of broken glass, defiled” refers to how his grandfather developed PTSD (otherwise known as “shell shock” during WW1). According to Oldfield, his grandfather was a MUCH different person before the war, and was heavily impacted by the war.
@@fer8agp i take the parts of the deeper emotional parts of this song specifically "tell the tales , of the brothers gone" as in two brothers who once got along , turned to fighting and tearing each other apart in the end of it they are both broken and scared. turned against each other, used, and left abandoned by everyone who claimed to care. "what a mess we made when it all went wrong" trying to patch things up with each other only to suffer the same again and again, "heart of broken glass" that one meaning both stopped caring for anyone around them and got labeled "monsters" or "nuclear" as the song title is.
@ryankog5591 dude you just made my day, thanks to your reply I rediscovered this awesome song which I had completely forgotten about btw I'm now thankfully connected to 1 Gbps fiber optic, those dark DSL days are at last long gone
I think it is a salute to those who suffered the humiliation of defeat. It is almost perfect for the last days of the 3rd Reich if you take it from the German perspective... the lyrics I mean.
@@KameradVonTurnip no, the song is always about soldiers on both side. Big Boss ideal is that he want a haven for soldiers to not be just used as a disposable tool. Winning or losing both sides suffer from loss, suffering and irreparable psyche. It says something when in real life so many soldiers ended up with suicide after dealing with ptsd.
What is it, that give us the will to self destruction? This Song shakes everything inside me, but I feel not the will to change something. Just waiting for the abyss... and the knowing ,maybe we could have changed it...
Standing, on the edge of the crater. Like the prophets once said. And the ashes, are all cold now. No more bullets and the embers are dead. Whispers in the air, tell the tales of the brothers gone. Desolation, Devastation. What a mess we made, when it all went wrong... Watching from the edge of the circus for the games to begin. Gladiators draw their swords, form their ranks for Armageddon. I'm nuclear, i'm wild. I'm breaking up inside. A heart of broken glass. Defiled. Deep inside, The abandoned child. Standing on the edge of the underworld, looking at the abyss. And i'm hoping for some miracle to breakout, to escape from all this. Whispers in the air, tell the tales of a life that's gone. Desolation, Devastation. What a mess we made, when it all went wrong... I'm nuclear, i'm wild. I'm breaking up inside. A heart of broken glass. Defiled. Deep inside, the abandoned child. I'm nuclear, i'm wild. I'm breaking up inside. A heart of broken glass. Defiled. Deep inside, the abandoned child. Deep inside, the abandoned child.
A good reminder that the remaining soldiers will become part of outer haven and they will be killed either by (solid) snake or the self destruction of the base.

Actually the song better describes the German 9th Army in April/May of 1945. The emotional and physical state of a veteran serving on the last line of defense along the Oder River, up until Armageddon = the Red Army's final assault. The second half of the song fits perfect into the fact the 9th Army ended up getting surrounded after the front line collapsed. I always tell people the song is a salute to the defeated. Song seems to sing about a group of soldiers preparing/waiting for the final clash, one they have no hope of winning. That being said you can not take the song's lyrics literally. Words like Circus, Gladiator and Nuclear are metaphors. Which has always bug me when people take the term Nuclear so literally when it's a state of mind it's trying to describe, not literal nuclear anything. ie the song's use of Nuclear is referring to someone being Energized, main reason the primary word in the line after Nuclear is "Wild." ie Nuclear, and Wild referring to a man who is energized, and going primal, likely describing the emotional state of someone how in battle, after Armageddon which Armageddon is referring to the hell of battle itself.
