Sorry you have to go through all that pain, kid.'
Seeing all those characters makes me realize that we truly have creative people on this planet, almost made cry nostalgia tears seeing so many individual stories

@@davidrobinson9265 In the original Red Dead Redemption, Cougars were notorious for coming out of nowhere, knocking down your horse or yourself, then pouncing and killing you. It happened over the space of a few seconds, and your first warning of the cougar’s presence was your horse or Marston himself hitting the floor before getting your throat torn out by a very angry mountain cat. The actual story missions weren’t all that difficult - but everyone who played RDR remembers Marston being killed by a random cougar with absolutely no forewarning. I certainly remember it happening a lot.

My immediate thought goes to The Doctor. Lived for thousands of years at this point, lost countless friends, had to live with the guilt of genociding his own people (even if we later found out he saved them, he still spent centuries thinking he'd comitted genocide) only flr the cosmic evil force he tried to destroy surviving meaning his genocide was for nothing. Not to mention all the countless friends he's lost in various horrific ways throughout his travels.
Ellie did went through alot but there's alot of characters went through worse, and some of these characters is not a tough bitch like Ellie She had it hard and terrible but she's not helpless, alot of these characters can't do anything about what happened to them.

Don’t you just love how this one singular game is apparently the “golden goose” of character development when there’s been thousands if not millions of characters who have had a rougher time than her.

@@lightspeed7312 The joke is that her programing will literally force her to adopt a backstory worse than the characters you listed. So everytime something comes close or tops it, her own backstory becomes that much more grim and dark, and very much real. It's a cyclical programing, not a set one. So she literally, will always have the most painful live of experience.
@@eirikreigstad3649 Actually, not really. The mercs are well paid, and demo actually managed to buy a mansion for his mum and the death penalty of Teufort is... not a threat really. The tragedy of both characters is that Demo will never be enough for his blind mother, he is cursed in at least 3 different ways and needs alcohol to survive because his body has conditioned itself to live off alcohol alone. Meanwhile the heavy, oof. His father was a counter revolutionary, and after they killed him in-front of his family, Heavy, his mother and three very young sisters were sent to a gulag for 6 months. After a riot in which every guard was tortured to death, they made their escape. At this point, Heavy took a different identity and went to college to try and maintain his family. And even after successfully getting his PHD in Russian literature, he was found out on the very next day by the government, forcing his entire family to move to the mountains of Siberia. With nowhere to go and their funds scarce now, he resorted to mercenary work, putting his big body and strength to the service of whatever conflict. Then, he was approached by the Administrator, who offered him a job fighting for the Mann brothers, for a substantial pay, of course. Then Gray Mann came, robots happened and now as we left off, his greatest fear has happened... his sister, Zhanna, engaged to SOLDIER! Super tragic stuff.

Literally everyone experienced pain at some point. From a slayer who rips and tears demons to a small but evil flower, everyone experienced more pain than her.

The Hero of Time (Zelda) definitely deserves to be on here. He had to live with unimaginable burdens from the age of 10, was mentally tortuted in Majora's Mask, and according to Twilight Princess, the rest of his life sucked too.

Only to return to being a child without any glory or at least recognition, not only that but he was now exiled from his home since he wasn't a kokiri, his only friend leave him, deku tree is still death and the world he saved? The Green Ninja. You'd be surprised how much suffering writers can pile onto a children's character made to promote LEGOs. Like holy shit, can Lloyd go a single episode without being traumatized?

In reality, most of the cast went through terrible shit. Kai & Nya grew up without parents, forced to make ends meet themselves, watched their sensei die, Zane figured out that he was a robot and never a real human, also ended up dying once and having his memories erased once, Jay and Cole got off relatively fine. Dont even get me started on Wu.
worst part is that most of this characters not only lost more people on their life because of a enemy, but they could not do anything about it, also some of them somehow died more than 2 times and TBH dying hurts

The main reason I like this meme is because it validates everyone’s trauma. There is such a thing as trauma olympics where people try and compare trauma and say, “This person went through more than this!” That is just stupid because everyone reacts to stuff differently. If two people get into a car accident, one can have PTSD and the other could be perfectly fine. So I appreciate seeing everyone in here because it validates everyone’s experiences. I mean, I know it’s supposed to make fun of Ellie and everything, but I still appreciate it.
It doesn't make fun of her, it makes fun of the weirdos who for some random reason believe her to be the greatest character that shall ever be created. But I agree she is absolutely valid in what she went through.
Yeah... everyone hurts. Ellie's trauma wouldn't be worth less, because someone else went through "worse", but saying that no one went through more than her is... just dumb, because you can't compare that stuff. It's like my partner losing his mind about how he can't possibly have depression, because I apparently went through worse (I've been through a lot, but honestly, mostly fine by now) and someone else having it worse means he shouldn't be allowed to feel bad... It's dumb and only hurts people more...

This is actually my favourite one. Not only did you include such a wide range of characters you actually got the images on beat instead of a second off like most of these.
Seeing Nico from Oneshot on there put a smile on my face. My poor lad was forced to make all kinds of hard decisions by a player who was in control, and he soon realize that everything he had done wasn’t of his own free will. The poor kid just wanted to go home and see his mom again.
Glad you put the Courier, since canonically they had been: Shot in the head, left for dead in a shallow grave. Shot everywhere else by countless raiders, angry faction members, poisoned, set aflame, exploded, stabbed. Exposed to lethal amounts of radiation. Had their brain, heart, and spine removed. Watched as their entire Caravan in honest hearts brutally died. Was forced to break into a vault, performing the heist of a century under penalty of death via an explosive collar. Singlehandedly destroyed one or more major factions in the game at the battle of Hoover dam. Had to fight an insane second courier who wouldn't shut up, and kept focusing on the past. @@davidrobinson9265 In the original Red Dead Redemption, Cougars were notorious for coming out of nowhere, knocking down your horse or yourself, then pouncing and killing you. It happened over the space of a few seconds, and your first warning of the cougar’s presence was your horse or Marston himself hitting the floor before getting your throat torn out by a very angry mountain cat.
The actual story missions weren’t all that difficult - but everyone who played RDR remembers Marston being killed by a random cougar with absolutely no forewarning. I certainly remember it happening a lot.

@@eirikreigstad3649 Actually, not really. The mercs are well paid, and demo actually managed to buy a mansion for his mum and the death penalty of Teufort is... not a threat really. The tragedy of both characters is that Demo will never be enough for his blind mother, he is cursed in at least 3 different ways and needs alcohol to survive because his body has conditioned itself to live off alcohol alone.
Meanwhile the heavy, oof. His father was a counter revolutionary, and after they killed him in-front of his family, Heavy, his mother and three very young sisters were sent to a gulag for 6 months. After a riot in which every guard was tortured to death, they made their escape. At this point, Heavy took a different identity and went to college to try and maintain his family. And even after successfully getting his PHD in Russian literature, he was found out on the very next day by the government, forcing his entire family to move to the mountains of Siberia. With nowhere to go and their funds scarce now, he resorted to mercenary work, putting his big body and strength to the service of whatever conflict. Then, he was approached by the Administrator, who offered him a job fighting for the Mann brothers, for a substantial pay, of course. Then Gray Mann came, robots happened and now as we left off, his greatest fear has happened... his sister, Zhanna, engaged to SOLDIER! Super tragic stuff.

In reality, most of the cast went through terrible shit.
Kai & Nya grew up without parents, forced to make ends meet themselves, watched their sensei die, Zane figured out that he was a robot and never a real human, also ended up dying once and having his memories erased once, Jay and Cole got off relatively fine. Dont even get me started on Wu.

The main reason I like this meme is because it validates everyone’s trauma. There is such a thing as trauma olympics where people try and compare trauma and say, “This person went through more than this!” That is just stupid because everyone reacts to stuff differently. If two people get into a car accident, one can have PTSD and the other could be perfectly fine. So I appreciate seeing everyone in here because it validates everyone’s experiences. I mean, I know it’s supposed to make fun of Ellie and everything, but I still appreciate it.
It doesn't make fun of her, it makes fun of the weirdos who for some random reason believe her to be the greatest character that shall ever be created. But I agree she is absolutely valid in what she went through.

Ellie's trauma wouldn't be worth less, because someone else went through "worse", but saying that no one went through more than her is... just dumb, because you can't compare that stuff.

This is actually my favourite one. Not only did you include such a wide range of characters you actually got the images on beat instead of a second off like most of these.
Seeing Nico from Oneshot on there put a smile on my face. My poor lad was forced to make all kinds of hard decisions by a player who was in control, and he soon realize that everything he had done wasn’t of his own free will. The poor kid just wanted to go home and see his mom again.
At least he manged to get his happy ending by the end of the story.
Even though it hurt, it was totally worth it.

I just finished playing OneShot again after they added the world machine edition. Such a great game, I do feel bad for Niko. She had it rough.
Glad you put the Courier, since canonically they had been:
Shot in the head, left for dead in a shallow grave.
Shot everywhere else by countless raiders, angry faction members, poisoned, set aflame, exploded, stabbed.
Exposed to lethal amounts of radiation.
Had their brain, heart, and spine removed.
Watched as their entire Caravan in honest hearts brutally died.
Was forced to break into a vault, performing the heist of a century under penalty of death via an explosive collar.
Singlehandedly destroyed one or more major factions in the game at the battle of Hoover dam.
Had to fight an insane second courier who wouldn't shut up, and kept focusing on the past.
Has had to treat multiple crippled limbs with entire medical bags, and was unable to rest a bit after the limbs as he'd probably die if he stayed in one place, injured for too long, implying they just slap a brace onto your leg, and keep moving.
Has had several attempted assassination attempts committed on them.
