I had a 2022 Big Bend and I can attest to the 4WD system being outstanding. It got me through a foot of snow going up a steep hill with very little trouble. The limiting factor was the street-grade AS tires.
The turbo inline three should be eliminated entirely. It's not a good engine. It's rough and unrefined. It's not very reliable, either. I agree that the 2.0 liter turbo four should be standard with the 2.3 liter turbo four as an option.
Even though the Escape and Bronco share the same platform, i do respect Ford for making them at least look distinctive inside and out. That being said, Toyota used one engine to carry their Rav4 platform with much success. Not a lot of torque, but a respectable balance of power, efficiency, and reliability. Of course now, the Escape version is on the way out.
Having taken one test drive, I cannot imagine that little tiny 1.3L 3 cyl. engine going up any reasonably steep hill. “Off road ready hardware” is cosmetic’s.

It had a tiny engine like this does. All I know is on the test drive, it seemed so comically underpowered I was doubtful it could get up to highway speed.
Would they make a right-hand steering column for the Australasian Oceanic market ? ; furthermore with this will they install a towbar for hauling a small game fishing boat ? .

My 2022 Bonco Sport Badlands with the 2.0L makes 250HP and 277LB feet of torque... in case you can't do the math that's 25HP more than that 5.0L V8 and only 22 less LB FT of Torque.... all while getting 9 miles per gallon better fuel economy.... the 2.0 is plenty of engine for this vehicle.
Go ahead and take the Escape on that trail in the video and see what happens. But do note that every other "Trail Rated" Jeep other than the Wrangler has unibody construction. The modern Land Rover Defender and Rage Rover lines are also unibody though they call it a Monocoque with integrated frame to sound cool. Frankly, the base platform used has very little to do with the capabilities of the final vehicle. These days most auto manufacturers build their cars and trucks on a handful of global platforms to reduce costs. Lots of vehicles use Ford's C-Class platform (Focus / Escape / Kuga / Bronco Sport / Maverick / Transit Connect / Lincoln Corsair) ... but in this application it has been strengthened in key areas and is actually very capable for light to medium off-road use.
Too bad they still don't have the very desirable powered rear liftgate. Once you've had it it's hard to live without that handsfree convenience. There is really no excuse for not having it on the upper trim levels.

Maybe for offroad but not in almost any other way. The B2 does not ride or handle close to as well as the BS on road where they both spend the majority of their time. Also the B2 is very tippy in emergency maneuvers thanks to its high center of gravity, narrow track and overly short wheelbase. It's way less safe as well. Also the B2 is dog slow by comparison. And I say all this as someone who loves the B2. But lets not kid ourselves. The BS is a better vehicle in most all respects.

The 4 cylinder should be the only engine on the Bronco Sport. The 3 cylinder should be left to the Escape.

Japanese do it with 660cc engine. Proper gearing can go a long way. But this obviously isnt meant for extreme offroad use
It's all about gear ratios. A blender motor could haul you up anything, though not very fast.

It truly needs a V6 motor to the Bronco Sport or offer more horsepower than 250 and make it standard on all models.

250 horsepower? Ford could at least another 20 more horsepower. In other words, maybe Ford could use the same motor as in the Ford Edge.
