I stayed in Compiegne as an exchange student when I was 16. Summer program. They lived in an apartment in the school that the mom was a headmaster for. Not too far from an Atac grocery
That is the city hall! One of the things that makes Compiègne famous is that it's the city were Jean of Arc was captured. So you see her statue in front of the city hall. She's also the key figure you see on a horse on the front façade AND one of the saints you see, just up and to the left. Another detail I love about this building is that, at its top, there are three animatronic figures of men. Each represents a historical enemy of Compiègne. They are not statues-- they move and hit bells which announce the hour! If you ever visit Compiègne, you should go in the winter to walk around the Christmas market and sip mulled wine. It is enchanting!

That's the library! It used to be an old abbey. If you go in the basement, you can see the old pathways as they were.
