Seventh Day Adventists believe that the 7th Day is the Sabbath of the Lord Your God. I do think if you read Exodus 20:8-11 you will find that is the exact wording in the NIV Bible. So now let’s look at the Calendar Sunday-1 Monday-2 Tuesday-3 Wednesday-4 Thursday-5 Friday-6 Saturday-7. The Pope and the Catholic Church declared that Sunday (day 1) was the new sabbath by changing the “solemnity” from Saturday to Sunday in or near 336AD. So the SDA Denomination is actually following the Sabbath as written in the Commandment. Most Protestant Denominations are worshiping on the Catholic “sabbath” Sunday the first day. The pope and his Church and MOST Protestant Denominations are not following the Commandment worshiping on Catholic sabbath instead. History proves this post to be correct. You can like it or hate it but truth is still truth.

Remember the law of the Lord your God also says, " thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor" You are deliberately misrepresenting the truth.. SDAs DO NOT believe that Jesus is the devil in any way shape or form. They believe that the second goat in the day of atonement ceremony is representative of Satan.@@JamieElison

Christ the sheep/first Goat bear all sins, and is killed just like he died for us on the cross, the second Goat was no killed but the sin (forgiven from the most holy place), during the day of atonement is heaped up on the second Goat and taken to the desert to die on its own,,,, now tell me between Jesus and the Devil who died and who is left in isolation alone?

The Adventists get their doctrines from scripture. But I find it hilarious that most of the great reformists during the dark ages who were priests themselves called the papacy the anti-Christ. When I read about Martin Luther who was a priest and called out the crimes committed by the church and the papacy then I believe them to be a credible source. The Canon and history both prove that Catholicism was cruel and despotic toward the children of God.

*God warns people not to fall into idolatry and false worship and to avoid such practices because it leads to sin. Consider the following text:*
*‘Then the Lord said, “Because this people approaches Me with their words And honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of the commandment of men that is taught.’* Isaiah 29:13
The Oxford dictionary defines an *idol* as: *“An image or representation of a god used as an object of worship; in extended usage, a person or thing that is greatly admired, loved, or revered.”*
*What does the Bible say about images and idols?*
Exodus 20:4, 5* - *a]* - “Thou shalt not *MAKE* unto thee *ANY* graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in *HEAVEN* above, or that is in the *EARTH* beneath, or that is in the *WATER* under the earth. *b]* Thou shalt not *BOW DOWN* thyself to them. *c]* Nor *SERVE* them.”
If you *MAKE* any graven image you have broken this commandment, whether you worship it or not.
Do Catholics *MAKE* graven images? *Yes.*
Do Catholics *KNEEL* down to statues of Mary or Jesus? *Yes.*
Do Catholics *SERVE* Mary? *Yes,* as in "Legion of Mary."
*The liturgical feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and Marian prayer, such as the rosary, an* - *“epitome of the whole Gospel,” express this devotion to the Virgin Mary.”* Cf. Paul VI, MC 42; SC 103.
*You may call it whatever you like, when you bow yourself to a statue or erect a statue of Mary, and pray to her, it is WORSHIP. God hates this practice. God will not share his glory with anyone, because He alone is worthy to accept praise and honor and worship.*
*The fact is that Roman Catholics say they don’t worship Mary, and yet they do everything consistent with the essence of worship while denying that they actually do it.*
*“Let us turn in prayer to Mary,* Mother of the Church and Mother of our faith. Mother, help our faith! Open our ears to hear God’s word and to recognize his voice and call…”*
“This twofold movement of *prayer to Mary has found a privileged expression in the Ave Maria: Hail Mary* [or Rejoice, Mary]: the greeting of the angel Gabriel opens this prayer…” (CCC 2676)
Leviticus 26:1 *a]* "You shall *MAKE* you *NO IDOLS* nor *GRAVEN IMAGE.* -*b]* Neither rear you up a *STANDING IMAGE.* - *c]* Neither shall ye set up any *IMAGE OF STONE* in your land to bow down unto it."*
*Do Catholics rear up STANDING IMAGES?* - *Yes.*
*Do Catholics set up any IMAGE OF STONE?* - *Yes.*
Deuteronomy 4:16 *"Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and MAKE you a GRAVEN IMAGE, the similitude of ANY FIGURE, the likeness of MALE or FEMALE."*
*Do Catholics make graven images of MALE or FEMALE?* - *Yes.*
Mary is a female. Jesus and the apostles are males.
Deuteronomy 16:22 *"Neither shalt thou SET thee UP ANY IMAGE: which the Lord thy God HATES."*
*Do Catholics SET UP ANY IMAGES?* - *Yes.*
*Does God HATE IMAGES?* - *Yes.*
Thessalonians 1:9 *"How ye turned to God FROM IDOLS to serve the living and true God."*
*Did the early Christians turn FROM IDOLS?* - *Yes.*
Deuteronomy 27:15 *"CURSED be the man that MAKES ANY GRAVEN or MOLTEN IMAGE, an abomination unto the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place."*
*Does God put a curse on any person that makes any image?* - *Yes.*
*Why does God call an image an ABOMINATION?* - *Because He hates it.*
Isaiah 40:18,19 "To whom then will ye liken God? or what *LIKENESS* will ye *compare* unto him? The workman melteth a graven image"
*Note:* God has no visible form and we cannot liken him to any material object. The Catholic answer is that they say that they do not *worship* images.
*God's reply is not to MAKE IMAGES.*
*The early Christians had NO IMAGES.*
Early Christian writers such as Irenaeus, Clement, Cyprian, Athanasius, and Jerome, wrote strongly *AGAINST* images, statues, and any manner of prayer or veneration regarding them. The Council of Constantinople in 381 A.D. voted unanimously to remove all images from the churches.
*The Catholic church removes the second commandment against MAKING* graven images from the list of 10 Commandments in Exodus 20:1-17. This presents them with the problem of *only having 9 commandments.*
*They resolve this problem by dividing commandment number 10 into 9 and 10 as follows:*
*9* You shall not covet your neighbour’s *wife.*
*10* You shall not covet your neighbour’s *goods.*

I assure you, that you guys are not understanding Catholicism. The first thing I'll bring up is the fact that it is 2000 years old and has gone over the entire earth. There are over a billion Catholics and each of them have an opinion and they can see things differently. For this entire time, Catholics have gone back and forth about the Sabbath. Some popes have said Sunday is very close to the Sabbath, same type of thing. Some popes have said absolutely no Sunday is NOT a Sabbath and one even said that if someone says Sunday is a Sabbath they are the antichrist.
You guys ONLY show the one side. Which is false information. The church has allowed popes, cardinals, bishops, priests and laymen to discuss and debate this idea without coming out and making a definitive ruling. SOME bishops (who have authority over certain areas have made Sunday rulings that look very much like Sunday is a Sabbath.) But it wasn't until the 20th century that universally Catholics had to attend worship on Sunday--there was a Sunday obligation. Granted, most bishops did require it before then, but that was the OFFICIAL time Sunday obligation was made a universal mandate.
After the Reformation there was a time when the Sabbath issue was a BIG debate among Reformers. Calvinists took the position that Sunday was the new Sabbath, other Christians argued against that. William Miller argued that Sunday WAS the Sabbath because Sunday was the first day Adam and Eve were alive and that was the 7th day for God. Therefore, he argued, the 1st day for humans IS the legitimate 7th day Sabbath of God.
This became such a big deal (in fact more theological book were written about the Sabbath than any other topic 17th century, post Reformation). This timeframe came to be called the era of the Sabbath Wars. This became the context of most of your quotes you read. (Notice they are mostly in English. Official Vatican documents are written in Latin and translated. So always check to make sure whatever you are referencing as authoritatively Catholic was originally in Latin.)
To continue, American anti-catholicism was so persistent during the 19th century that American priests argued with Protestant pastors and scholars that there was no reason to hate Catholics. You get The LORD's DAY from them. The point was that if you are going to hate Catholicism, realize that you get the ONLY day Protestants have corporate worship from Catholic tradition, not from the Bible. Catholic worship daily publicly, they have daily mass, therefore the one day a week worship is an unknown concept to Catholics.
The stress of the Industrial Revolution kept many Catholics from attending worship EVER. So in order to get American Catholics to fight for their right to go to church at least once a week, they put pressure on them to fight for a Sunday blue law. Blue laws were not in effect to persecute or downplay Adventists and Jews who worshipped on Saturday. No, Catholics had historically been able to go to an early mass daily with a bigger celebration on Sunday as the Lord's Day--the Day the Lord rose from the dead. Adventists may disagree with Catholic theology, but at least understand what happened that created the stress of Catholic reactions both in their defensive laws protecting at least one day of worship for them.
Another thing, when a Catholic claims THEY changed the day of worship, what they are actually saying is that the Lord told the Apostles (Act 1) after His resurrection during those 40 days before His ascension into heaven that all Christians are to commemorate the day of His resurrection. The Apostles passed Jesus commandments on. Catholics believe they go back to Christ Himself and were not formed as a Church later on. This is what Catholics believe so when they say "they" changed it, they DO NOT mean a bunch of popes or at a council they got together and said, "let anyone who doesn't keep Sunday as a Sabbath be an anathema." Not at all. Christians kept Sunday as a holy day since the Sunday AFTER Christ resurrected. From the beginning. Not sometime later. Again you may disagree with that belief, but understand that is HOW Catholics mean it.
    www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P7O.HTM
This is from the OFFICIAL Vatican Website:
2178 This practice of the Christian assembly [Lord's Day] dates from the beginnings of the apostolic age.
Please read the entirety of the Catechism on this and you will find that it says,
2175 Sunday is expressly distinguished from the sabbath which it follows chronologically every week; for Christians its ceremonial observance replaces that of the sabbath. In Christ's Passover, Sunday fulfills the spiritual truth of the Jewish sabbath and announces man's eternal rest in God. For worship under the Law prepared for the mystery of Christ, and what was done there prefigured some aspects of Christ.
The footnote on this is : St. Ignatius of Antioch, Ad Magn. 9, 1: SCh 10, 88. Ignatius is a second century bishop who was martyred for the faith. He wrote, "Those who lived according to the old order of things have come to a new hope, no longer keeping the sabbath, but the Lord's Day, in which our life is blessed by him and by his death."
Catholics believe that Sunday is holy BECAUSE CHRIST made it holy, not the church. Well, in fact they really wouldn't agree with that because Catholics believe the Church IS the body of Christ on earth. So please try to understand the quotes within this context. It will not change your beliefs, but at least you will not represent the church as having decreed Sunday a Sabbath. There are no official documents that have a direct "thus saith the church." It is a developing tradition that Sunday is similar to the Jewish Sabbath but in the end, it is not a day that gives us rest, but Christ.
When you go to Rome, you will hear Catholics, priests and even the pope refer to the 7th day as the Sabbath. That is what Catholics understand the Sabbath to be. Sunday is different in the same way baptism is different from circumcision, but one fulfilled the other and replaced it. In Rome Sunday is the Lord's Day and Saturday is the Sabbath. No confusion at the Vatican at all.
Approximately 10 times as many Catholics attend worship on the 7th day as Adventists do in the U.S. There is no way Catholics are ever going to keep Adventists from worshipping on the Sabbath because THEY do. Always have, always will. Catholics have always had public worship daily. Just like Israel did at the Temple. God's people have always worshipped Him publicly at a communal service 24/7 across the world. This idea of a "day" of worship is non-existent to Christians pre-Reformation.

      Thanks for this synopsis!
The underlying issue is God said before sin entered the world to keep the 7th day as a special holy day. All the other days we are also meant to commune and bond with Him. But the 7th day is meant to be set apart as special. God never changes. He reiterated it in the 10 commandments. While our understanding of God changes and advances, what God has said remains firm. His law (10 commandments and not the ceremonial law done away with at the cross) is binding. The apostles did not establish Sunday as a holy Sabbath day, nor a feast day to commemorate the resurrection. Baptism is the commemoration of resurrection (we come up from the water a new creature, Christ living through us). We also commemorate His death by the communion service, which Christ said is the remembrance for His death.
When Cain offered beautiful fruit in worship to God, the onlooker looking in would have thought what a beautiful act of worship. But God did not accept Cain’s fruit. It doesn’t matter if our motives are to worship God out of the most zealous love a human heart can offer, if we do not do what He asks us to do, and we know better, He does not accept it.
He asked us to love Him by keeping His commandments, not doing what we think is ok. One day everyone will know and be faced with this choice.
It doesn’t matter if the Catholic Church said Sunday is or is not the Sabbath. It doesn’t matter if I treat various days as the Sabbath. If I am not honoring the 7th day Sabbath as set apart from the other 6 days, then I am offering Cain’s fruit.
