I love how expressive the characters are, even while they're in the background. It's amazing and so much attention put into a movie that we haven't seen in awhile!
As someone who loved the original comic, I didn’t expect the animation to be one of my favorite things about this movie…until I saw the trailer. And I was blown away by the beautiful balance between cartoonishly exaggerated and delicate expressions. I love that moment when Nimona bounces off the couch and hangs in the air for a sec so we can see she’s looking at Bal and waiting for him to call her back. And Bal’s face is almost frozen in the same numb horror when he finds out about the Director. He’s normally so emotive, but because there is nothing normal about that moment it’s like reality is suspended for a moment before he shifts into gear. So cool.
