If this was the last time JV starts a game in MMP, I just wanna say on behalf of all Astros fans, thank you for everything JV. You're a genuine legend, my favorite pitcher of all time, and a HOFer. Hopefully the boys can get #3 and you can ride off into the sunset.
JV started off strong wish he coulda finished the 6th inning. It’s all good though we got the dub. Shoutout to Breggy going yard, Jake finally going yard and King Tuck doing the same!! 4 is our magic number
Update... After starting the season 12-24, the Astros are 84-70 with 8 games to go. If they finish 6-2, they will end the season at 90-72. The Astros are 6 games behind the Yankers for best record in the AL, 5 games ahead of Seattle in the AL West and 5.5 games behind Cleveland for the number two seed in the AL. Go 'Stros!
If they would have been .500 at that point (18-18 )instead of 12-24, they would be fighting for 1st seed. That's how good the Astros have been since late May/early June.
@@JustLikeHeaven77 if you’ve been watching all season, remember how they gave up games (hader, pressley) that’s at least 5-7 wins, then the games they lost by the 3rd inning for like 2 weeks. It’s been a crazy season but they always say, baseball is a long season anything can happen. Go Stros!!
@wok9524 Yes. Hader has given up 12 HR in less than 70 IP. At one time, briefly, both Hader and Pressly had ERA over 4. That being said, it was only for about a week to 10 days. I also remember MANY one run game losses. I still think the Astros have the second best team in MLB, close behind Philly. They just haven't really played like a team this year. Hopefully, they can clinch early and rest the starters. I have tickets for Tuesday against Seattle. It would be fun for them to clinch then.
@@JustLikeHeaven77Might happen next year! Bruce Bochy managed teams are every other year contenders/champions. Look at what he did in San Francisco…We’ll see…Nevertheless, Go Stros! 💪🏾
Theres no way jv pitches in the playoffs at least start. 94 meat over the plate and by the time he starts mixing they are already seeing the ball well. The pitches just aren’t sharp as they were and he needs to stop kidding himself
The idea that they would keep Verlander, not Arrighetti, for the playoffs is disgusting. Damn it, perishability is built into the greatest athletic careers. These days, Ohtani looks like Superman, but I, who am 72, may well live to see age catch up with him as it clearly has with Verlander.
@@JustLikeHeaven77 who do they have who is likelier to be brilliant. Consider the 1969 Mets. They won with no names for the most part. Experience is highly overrated.
4 wins to take the title!!! And Mariners, although they beat Rangers, THE RANGERS DEFENDING CHAMPIONS ARE NO MORE!!!!! CANCÚN HAS RUN THROUGH THE SOUTH OKLAHOMA RANGERS!!!!!!!! BYE BYE RANGERS!!!!!
I do hope the Astros and JV can come to some kind of accommodation for the future. If he can focus on rehabbing and prepping for next season the team certainly benefits from his experience and solid pitching when he's going good. No way he should pitch in this post season though.

JV earned our respect, he has nothing to prove, but he is no longer the young JV.
So nice to see King Tuck back and smacking the ball all over the park. A much needed shot in the arm for the Astros.

JV is cooked. What a career but it's time. Thanks for everything Justin.
He's retiring? He won't be in the postseason?

Yep, if they started 18-18 and if they won 3 of the 4 Verlander rehab starts, they would have the best record in MLB at 93-61.

I've noticed this lol against the royalty, Bobby Witt Jr hit a hr on him in two games.

late asf but anything to watch the highlights

We can't afford him next year. We need that money, plus what we save when Bregman walks to try to sign Tucker to an extension and keep Kikuchi.
I love JV but it’s time to retire. And if he won’t it’s time for the Astros to not pay 43m$ a year for him. He’s worth 1/10 now.

leave it up to Sleepy Joe to bench Jon Singleton after going 2-4 with 2 RBI.
