Citi seems currently to get an *F* grade from the BBB. I would think it's pretty difficult, even for a bank, to achieve this distinction. They must really be making strenuous efforts to treat customers badly! BBB notes that the "F" is for non-responsiveness to BBB consumer complaints and 2018 lawsuit brought by many US states alleging Citi fraudulently manipulated the value of a benchmark used to determine lending rates.

The Costco Visa is IMO their best card. 4% back on Gas, 3% on Restaurants/Travel, 2% at Costco, 1% everywhere else. A lot of the benefits slashed on their other cards were kept for the Costco VISA. It was an instant 4K limit approval for me as my first CC with only a car loan on my credit report. I was able to pull in over $200 in cash back the first year 🤷🏼‍♀️ 50% cli after 6 months. not bad for a free card. Citi does have a nice App though.... now that I’m further into the Cc game, it’s still my Gas and Costco card. 4% back on gas is definitely up there.

My first ever card was the Costco Citi Visa, long before I ever started learning about any of this stuff. Also, I have noticed when I have any questions about anything ill hit the chat button in my app and they have been the quickest to answer me and give me solid answers instead of some of the chat on other cards they just suggest things and your not even talking to someone.

I have never been screwed by Citi. I currently hold the Citi Costco & Prestige cards. Generous credit lines (over 40k in combined CL), easy CLI request (no HP every 6mo.), great offers, and never had a bad customer service experience.
I was approved for my first Citi credit card 9 years ago. Overtime I was able to PC from Diamond Preferred > Hilton Reserve > Citi Prestige ..while keeping my credit history. No hassle, no "same family" rule.
Although they've slashed a lot of the benefits on the Prestige, I still make up the annual fee (plus more) with the Travel credit & 2x 4th night free credit... and they recently made the metal card heavier (same weight as the Amex Platinum) and added contactless (if you like that kinda stuff)
I did miss my payment due date recently. Called CS and simply explained that I "forgot", and was refunded the late fee due to being an "excellent customer since 2011!" Again, no hassle. Reasons why Citi is still a keeper for me :)

As long as you never travel, or use your card you shouldn't have any problem. The moment you start doing anything besides going to walmart they'll block your card, if you leave the state they'll block your card, if you have an 'abnormal' transaction they'll block your card under the guise of it being 'security'. Or in my case they'll reassign you a 'new' card they chose to change you to, not send it, then when you say they didn't send the card they cancelled my card, not sending the card they promised. Then tell me they have to re-run your credit to reissue the active card you already have lol, what a bunch of shit. I'll be first in line when the class action lawsuit comes, I might even start it.

    1. Discover, BoA and Capital One also have business models focused on lend rather than spend (meaning they make more of their profits off customers who get into debt then merchant fees).
    2. As you noted all the banks are trending down on benefits and even the exact same ones that Citi is cutting.
    3. For someone who is looking to get value from spend without calculating point valuations at transfer partners (only the enthusiast covers their annual fee) or churning through new sign up bonuses every month (when minimum spend doesn't mean being frugal) it's hard to beat the Citi double cash card.

I have 2 citibank credit cards: the citi reward + student credit card (mastercard) and the costco anywhere rewards credit card (visa). I use the rewards + to rack up thankyou points to get giftcards for birthdays and christmas presents. I use my costco anywhere rewards to mainly shop at Costco and get two cash checks every year (free executive membership if you pay the annual fee of $120; Costco will pay $60 so you only owe $60 but if you add an additional user (which is free and can be anyone) you can charge that person half of the membership fee of $60 which pays for the remainder of the membership. Essentially you don't owe anything annual fee or membership fee because it pays itself. Anyway, I like that their graphics on some of their cards such as the ones mentioned above are semi-holographic which adds to the prestige and coolness factor. However, it's not truly 3D or holographic. I think they should also make the switch from mastercard to visa so they could add premium features, services and amenities with the addition of visa signature and visa infinite. Also, they should make their higher model cards out of premium metal and add competitive features, services and amenities, and bonuses so they could compete with Chase and American Express. I think they have a good foundation so far, they just need to tweak a few things and add some new things.

      @nungshizen7907 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well you can always reach out to the customer service and mark the charges as fraud and you will get all the amount credited back to you within 5-7 business days as Citi card comes with 100% fraud protection and you are not liable to pay for any fraud charges.

Citi has been the only bank that has denied me a credit card for high DTI. BofA and Chase don't seem to look that hard though.

I have had good experiences with Citi. The rewards card is better than the double cash. In my opinion.

I’ve been using the citibank thank you preferred, American Airlines and rewards + card in the past few years. While chase is my main issuer, I get my fair share of great points and miles for what i spend my money on with citi. I think they’re in the category that you either like them or hate them.

Only bad thing about the Citi double cash is that it won’t let you cash out until you have a minimum of $25 cash back earned. -_-

How come credit card companies do not list what credit scores are baseline for being approved for their cards ? How else would I know how long to hold off on applying for a new credit card ? If I apply too soon, my credit score goes down, because of credit checks, so why don't they do us all a favor ?

I have 2 dividends, a Sears MasterCard, and will be PCing my Expedia card to the double cash in the 13th month. Citi has potential, but it's currently not promising. But with the way chase and Amex flip flop around with benefits etc, I want to keep Citi on the back burner, ready to jump in on the off chance that, in a few years or whenever, TYP become more viable than it currently is in relation to MR and UR points.

Ayyee brian, I was just approved for my 1st amex card.. I chose amex everyday preferred card cause it made more sense to me since, I love chasing points rather than cash back.. I could have applied for gold card but I kindaa needed bal transfer as well atm.. sweet CL of 15k.. was surprised with the limit cause it gave me more limit than my csp which is around 13.5k🙌

@@justinkredible33 They started me at $500. They did finally increase my credit lol. Big factor of course is credit history and Income. I think banks usually lend a credit line around 10% of your income level.

I got the CitiBusiness AAdvantage in December because I fly American Airlines, it was offering a limited-time offer 70,000 sign up bonus, and since it's a business card, it doesn't count toward 5/24. But my Citi relationship got off on the wrong foot: they gave me a stingy $3,000 credit line (my Chase Ink cards and Amex BBP are 2x - 3x that amount), they can't expedite the card because they "don't have that service," and I couldn't create an online account until I got the physical card, which I had to wait 10 days for. Now that I've hit my minimum spend, in the sock drawer it goes. The only other Citi card I will go after is the personal AAdvantage card for the AA miles once I'm done with 5/24. Maybe the Double Cash just to give myself a credit line boost? But other than that, I wouldn't bother with Citi. I love my Chase and Amex cards

Can you do a video on the Wells Fargo Propel card and compare it to the other travel cards? And explain how the point system on that card compares to Chase for example. I’m new to the game, so the Propel sounds really nice to me as a college student Bc of the no annual fee but getting great rewards back on a lot of categories. Thank you!

I have the 2% cash back and it's not quite the same as Cap1, the only other reward card I have ever owned.
    1% at purchase
    1% when you pay
Minimum of $25 in rewards before you can cash out
Always irked me in comparison, that I got my 1.5% back with Cap1 a day or 2 after charge cleared. So I never have to pay the money I just take it off my balance and then pay a few days after that.
Now that all of my cards have a zero balance I'm thinking about putting all of my auto pays on Citi and my wireless bill and getting that $25 every 5 or 6 months. Less exciting but more money earned.

Brian I had only a capital one, Chase freedom Unlimited, Discover It and on January I got the Chase Sapphire Prefer, I spend the 4,000 for bonus in a couple weeks, I am an Amazon seller but want more miles and line of credit. They gave me the card even though I was only on the 660 Credit Score, now my credit went down to 649.
    What should I do?
    I want and Amex.
