      Agreed, the 90’s were a time of complete joy. The Cold War had ended, Putin wasn’t going nuts reconsolidating the old USSR, terrorism was that thing that happened in 1992 and the sun was a little bit brighter but not as hot. Man I miss the 90’s.

      it was and it would have remained great if george bush was never appointed the presidency by an act of supreme court treason. they stopped the FL recount. 100% election fraud and george's brother was the governor of FL at the time. a mere 500 votes and the supreme court which was a republican majority would not approve a recount of the state of FL. that's when America started its total downfall. thank you to everyone who voted for ronnie, bush and george walker bush. you are all to blame.

      The Braves played 5 WS in 1990s - more than any team in that decade - from the beginning (1991) to the end (1990), they also won all division titles. It's sad that Braves only won 1 WS, but Yankees only played 3 in last 4 years of 1990s.

    • @TL2354
      @TL2354 7 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Felix- your point is? Costas had them the team of the 90's before they won in 1995. Still don't see how at that point. Toronto won back to back and beat the Braves in the World Series. There is no way the Braves should have ever been "team of the 90's"

    • @joesakic91
      @joesakic91 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      +Felix Mendelssohn But where's the multiple WS titles to go along them? Nowhere to be found.
      Saying the Atlanta Braves are the team of the 1990s based on division titles and World Series appearances is like saying the New York Yankees should be the team of the 1980s because they won more games than anybody else in that decade.

      @@danalong1237 You best bet assume, at least for the first few years, that Al Michaels would be in the #1 play-by-play role until he retires. Al is the only one on the current NBC roster to have any major league baseball experience with covering numerous WS in the 80's. While Tirico seems to be the face of NBC Sports for the future, he has no experience covering professional baseball, so it would be naive and unlikely that they would put him in such a prestigous spot so early. It would be more likely to see him on the 2nd or 3rd team or hosting pre-and-post-game duties (like he is doing now on Sunday Night Football) to gain his footing with the sport before he eventually assumes the prominent position.

    The difference between Bob Costas and Joe Buck is that Costas genuinely loved/enjoyed covering baseball. Joe Buck seems to only be in it for the money and "prestige" of being able to cover baseball's biggest events. Basically, Buck doesn't seem to have as much passion or reverence as Costas during his heyday. What makes things even worse, is that Joe Buck has been the de facto national TV voice of MLB (not counting cable outlets like ESPN & TBS) since at least, the late '90s.

    The 1996 to 2001 New York Yankees have to be considered the greatest all-time Baseball dynasty. The reason for this is that the previous Yankee teams that had won 4 and 5 world championships respectively, only had to win a single series in order to win the Championship, they did not have to win any playoffs prior to playing in the Series --- in those days all you had to do was finish in first place and you were automatically in. Therefore, making it to 5 world series in six years (winning 4 of them) and winning 11 consecutive playoff series over those last 4 years is something that in the modern era is a greater and more difficult accomplishment than what those Yankee teams from the 30's and 50's, as great as they were, had to pull off. Of course, this is just one man's opinion.

    NBC missing out on the MLB contract was a huge missed opportunity. It would've likely bolstered the NBC Sports Network and helped make them a more legitimate competitor to ESPN. Also, having MLB would've provided a great promotional tool for NBC's otherwise weak primetime programming outside of the NFL season.

    The Atlanta Braves will always be the team of the 90s. In the regular season they had a winning record against every MLB team and they had a winning record against every team in both leagues since interleague play began that decade. The Braves had a winning record against every team including the Yankees, Blue Jays and Marlins. Yes they lost to some of those same teams in the playoffs but the Braves won the 1995 World Series and they won the most games overall. The Atlanta Braves dominated the sport of baseball for 14 seasons and won a World record 14 division championships. The Atlanta Braves are and always will be the team of the 90s! In the history books of sports that is their nickname and not the Yankees. The Braves were just better but the Yankees were at best the team of the late 90s but the for the whole decade the Braves dominated the sport.

  • @joesakic91
    @joesakic91 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nah TolitoGangster, you're just jealous at the Yankees for taking the Braves' crown as team of the 1990s decade.
    Even when a comet or asteroid hits Planet Earth, it still won't change the fact the Yankees are the team of the 1990s with three World Championships to the Braves one.
    So, keep throwing insults, it still won't change. Yankees 3 World Championships in the 1990s > 1 Braves World Championship in the 1990s.

    2:16:58 The difference between the Braves and Yankees. Chipper Jones acting as chipper as can be, laughing it up while his team was on the verge of being swept. If the Yankees were on the verge of being swept, I assure you there'd be NO laughing or joking in the dugout and if there was King George would've crushed them. That's the difference between a cheap, under achieving franchise that GREATLY benefited from two pitchers getting consistent strikes called a foot out of the strike zone for their entire careers and the greatest franchise in the history of professional sports. Men against boys.
    Funny how Maddox and Glavine were nothing special in the playoffs when the umps started calling it correctly. Yeah, I'll go ahead and say what most people already know but would never say. Neither Glavine OR Maddox would've been even remotely close to the HOF without the benefit of umpires calling absolutely ridiculous, insane, outside pitches that extra long bats couldn't hit if they tried for their entire careers. Maddox would've at least been a serviceable Major League pitcher but Glavine would've been nothing more than a guy who'd go out to throw a Home Run Derby during the All Star Break. A Maddox or Glavine strike was defined anywhere from 2 inches off the plate to the on deck circle. Out of all the instances of cheating in sports history, nothing tops the absolute BS of Glavine/Maddox of the 90's. They didn't even deserve to win ONE World Series in the 90's.

      1999 had better pitching
      2009 had better offense
      1999 team trailed for one+ inning vs. Texas (Game 2)
      had 2 comebacks in games 1 and 2 vs. Boston, including Bernie's extra inning walk-off HR
      came back from down 1 in 8th inning of Game 1 vs. Atlanta, Jeter bases loaded single off Maddux ties it, O'Neill single unties it
      huge game 3 comeback down 5-1 in the 5th leads to Curtis' walk-off
      2009 vs. Twins ARod/Teixeira game
      ARod, Posada HRs in 7th tie and win Game 3
      Angels Game 2 ARod ties it in 11th, win on error in 13th
      Game 6 they trail for 2 innings before a 3-run 4th
      Phillies took Game 1, only time either NYY team trailed a series
      Game 2 Teix/Matsui get to Pedro to comeback from down 1
      Game 3 Yanks down by 3, ARod review HR, Pettitte/Damon hits give them lead in 5th and they don't look back
      Game 4, back-and-forth game all night, 2-out rally in 9th Damon singles then steals 2 bases on one play, ARod unties it and Posada RBI double finishes it
      All other games were never in question really.
      The 2009 postseason was definitely more entertaining, 1999 team never got pushed to a 6th game
      It's a tough call, the 1999 bullpen might be the deciding factor, whether or not they could shut down the 09 homer machine. The 2009 version might've wilted under the bright lights of the old Yankee Stadium, as ARod-led teams had so many times in the past.
