What this man is saying is true. Land was never something to be “owned” in pre-colonial Africa. Land was used communally. The same piece of land could be used by different people for different purposes such as farming, hunting, fishing etc. Western forms of land tenure were introduced to Africa during colonialism. Our traditional leaders never understood that when they were “selling” the land (that which is said to have been sold) they would wake up the next day with fences erected around their land. The notion of privatization and viewing the land as a commodity is foreign to Africa.
Brother, The indigenous peoples in the Americas had a similar (communal) view of land "ownership." These colonial euro-albino invaders have been a pestilence wherever they have gone upon the Earth.
