I got to meet your dad about 10yrs later,I happened to be servicing the roll up bay doors at his station in Atlanta. We chatted a few minutes before I said “You’re Matt Moseley right?”
He seemed a bit surprised I knew him by name then I mentioned recalling his name and news story from the cotton mill fire.
It was clear to see the humble man he is…he sorta downplayed his heroic task by saying “Wow,that was over 10yrs ago”.
I told him that lots of folks still remember it very well….it was a hell of a rescue.

I was there that day. When that Wall fell the ground shook! I could see the crain twisting and warping from the heat. It was twisting like a screw and creeking and cracking. It was starting to lean.
The crain operator was pacing back and forth until it got so hot he got in the operator's cab. The crain was twisting even more and starting to lean a lot more
after a few minutes the cab turned into an oven and he had to
move to the far end and huddle down there was no place to go.
You know he thought that was the end.
By that time the tower was leaning bad you could hear the metal creek.
About that time the helicopter showed up. I was glad to see Mr Moseley repelling down to rescue him. Just imagine how he felt!

I still remember when Ivers Simms made up a joke about changing Matt Moseley's last name to Moses.🤣 How's that for another comedian? I hope the latter earned more kudos.🎖

Contrast it with Danny Dyer. What a shame.
