In this episode of my Craftoria modded Minecraft series, I tackle a big problem-our ME disks are getting filled up fast with sugar cane and cobblestone from all the farms and generation setups. But don’t worry, I’ve got the perfect solution: Functional Storage!
We’ll dive into setting up a Functional Storage controller, link it to our AE2 network, and move all those bulk items like cobblestone and sugar cane into storage drawers-freeing up precious ME disk space. I’ll also show how to upgrade your storage for maximum capacity, helping you keep things organized for the long haul.
Ready to keep your AE2 system running smoothly? Let’s jump in!

Also to note, you can lock the drawers while they're empty, and the system will not use those empty drawers. Then you can manually add an item to set what the drawer should accept. This way you can pre-lock dozens of empty drawers in preparation for what you want to add to them.
True, and I think you can use the configurator on the controller block and it will lock/unlock all connected drawers at once. Though if it toggles them, that wouldn't be very useful if you have drawers in both states! thanks for the note!
Nice improvement. I wonder if you have considered sophisticated storage as an alternative to functional storage? Both seem to have similar capabilities but I have not used either extensively.
Thanks! I have used sophisticated backpacks a lot but not storage so much. What I needed is core to functional storage so I went with it :)
You could also use ae.. make a drive and lock it to 1 type. And then make your machines stop when the disk is full.
Yeah. That works. My ME approach would be level emitters to shut down the annihilation planes. There are lots of ways!
@@jangrogames you could do it exactly how you are doing it with functional storage i believe. You put the disk that is filtered on the subnet.. it allows the items in and then you can connect to the network through a storage bus i believe. I haven't done it yet but I'm pretty sure that's how it works. If you don't want drawers and dealing with rendering and all that you can just use AE2. Like you said there's tons of ways to do what you've accomplished. And there's nothing wrong with using drawers.. just figured I'd point out you actually can do this in AE2 without any crazy setup
I think the drawer setup is better if you are processing the resources somehow before putting them in your system.
