- Can you use a massage gun for #lipedema? Do massage guns help with lymphatic drainage or fibrosis? Rebekah discusses the benefits of adding a massage gun to your lipedema self-care toolkit as well as what to look for when buying a massage gun for lipedema treatment.

I love my massage gun. Mine was expensive but worth it!! I have lipedema in arms and legs. I just massage away with the cellulite attachment and hope for the best. I do bruise very easily and some days it hurts so I just go with how it feels. I've been doing the Carnviore diet for a year now and gone down 3 dress sizes. I am trying desperately to shift the fat. Carnivore has been next level for me! I had not been able to move the fat for over 15 years. With the weight dropping I need to find ways to help break down the fat pockets and tighten the skin.....easier said than done....especially when your 50 and in menopause🤪. But I will keep trying and try to enjoy the journey. Glad I found your videos.
I'm so glad to hear your massage gun is helping, Melba! Yes, bruising is a real thing for us. I'm glad your are listening to your body. Kudos too on your carnivore journey and the success you are having on it. Slow and steady weight loss is the best way to manage loose skin. Have you tried using collagen? I think it's helped me a lot with my skin. Glad you found the channel
@@sturdywoman Thank you! No I haven't tried Collagen. I really want to add some in though. Just not sure what to try....powder, tablets. Im just not sure....any suggestions?? Do you have any videos on collagen?? I really just wanted to do the diet alone with no exercise or additions for a year to see just what it would do for me. Had so many benefits. Even my eyesight is better😆 But def time for some collagen so would appreciate your opinion.😊
@@sturdywoman My skin needs help!! Do you use powdered collagen or bone broth or both? or something else?
@@debrag.3900 Yes, I do use collagen! I really love the chocolate one from Perfect Keto and use it everyday in my coffee. It's a little pricey but you can get $20 off with my link (rwrd.io/m81svr3?c) and if you watch their weekly "deals" section you can often get it at a deep discount. Collagen has been amazing for my hair and nails and I suspect it is also really helping my skin - but of course I don't know how it would be if I wasn't using it! I started using it about two years ago. I've also used bone broth when breaking fasts but it can be expensive to buy and I don't have a great routine for making my own even though it isn't hard. Have you seen my fasting video? I suspect fasting and autophagy have also helped my skin th-cam.com/video/5FJynEQd8Xg/w-d-xo.html Let me know how it goes 💕
@@sturdywoman Thanks again for your reply! I live in Mexico and not sure if I can get those exact products you mention. I can get a clean collagen powder, however. So I may just give a true try!! Thank you. PS-I also ordered a massage gun!!
Just realizing I have lipedema!! What’s crazy is that I was able to get rid of painful “knots” on my outer thighs and hips and noticed I slimmed down those areas substantially! The pain and “knots” have stayed at bay for a few years now!! Painful… and I used a foam roller and rolling pin… as well as my hands. I realized the lipedema only recently when massaging my lower belly pooch!! Just with manual massage over about a week I’m noticing the nodules are nearly gone! I started massaging from the outside in and the difference on the sides feels amazing!! Now using gun to slowly target fat in tummy, upper arms and near knees!! I found a harder nodule near one knee that has made me more serious about this process!!
I like how attentive and helpful you and guests are in these comments, definitely my tribe here! ❤
Hello Rebekah, hope you had a wonderful holiday and you look amazing. Thank you for sharing this upload. I have a massage gun but haven't used it regularly yet. When I was young and my grandmother was alive she and my mum would always do massager on us to clear out the lymphatic drainage regards to swelling and this practice was practiced for hundreds of years and now we can do it with technology like the guns.. In addition to having Ginger, Turmeric, Garlic and Cinnamon 🍵 tea all anti inflammatory swelling natural remedies.. I will do before and after photo and let you know x❤️💋
Hi Kam! Thank you for your kind words :) That tea sounds amazing. I think I'll go out and get some fresh ginger tonight. Thanks for the reminder that it is anti-inflammatory
Definitely take massage process slowly!!! It’s important to listen to your body. It can make you very tired!! Along with residual soreness and I even had bruising. Only now realizing all my efforts on my outer thighs and hips have been maintained with gun massage for 5 years!! Just realized I have limpedema though and have been slowly addressing other areas of my body. Feeling hopeful!!!
I have the Renpho that was gifted to me, its a great price has 5 heads, and 4 different speeds.
I have this gun, several other massagers and a nice rebounder. Now that know what this little fatty mass is on the back of my leg, I’ll be using it all!
Sounds like you have lots of good lymph moving tools! I would love a rebounder but I don't think my downstairs neighbors would appreciate it 😆 I use a vibration plate instead, which feels like a massage gun for your whole body amzn.to/43Ya55L
@@sturdywoman I have one that makes no noise .I don’t think ur neighbor would be able to hear it. It doesn’t move and it’s totally quiet.
Thank you for your great work on this video that you made , I really I needed. By de the way here I’m a new subscriber.
Thank you for your lovely tips and savory bits of information on lipedema.
Could you please do a video with your massage techniques?
What about a fascia blaster? Do you know what that is? I used it once and bruised quite badly. Is making bruising a real no no? It did not hurt. I really like your channel BTW. Ty
Hi Debra! I have heard about fascia blasting, but I have to admit I have never tried it. I'm not surprised you bruised, though, given how easily many of us bruise and how it works. If the goal is to move lymph and decongest, I would think a dry brush could be a better choice. I like to foam roll for my tight muscles and fascia, particularly in my legs and back and I've never had bruising from that even though it can be painful. I have a little pause about fascia blasting because there have been several law suits filed against the company and I can't find any studies on it other than a small one done by the company (www.healthline.com/health/fascia-blasting#other-alternatives). This blog post by a certified lymphadema therapist has some other good suggestions for working on fibrosis (and other symptoms) and she interestingly doesn't mention fascia blasting: lymphaticnetwork.org/news-events/understanding-fibrosis-in-lipedema-inflamed-subcutaneous-adipose-tissue-sat Glad you are enjoying the channel :)
@@sturdywoman Thank you Rebekah!!
I have a massager but have not been using on the knots in my thighs.. I will try it..
Let us know how it goes, Carole! Just go slow and listen to your body 💓
So is it possible for a massage gun to break up the painful nodules? 🙏🏼🥹Is that what you mean by fibrosis?
Do you have opinions/knowledge about acupressure treatments (eg mats) for lipedema?
Can you do a video on how to use the machine gun for Lipodema? Subscribed! ❤
Hi! Great idea! 🤩 I can definitely do that in an upcoming video. In the meantime, you might check out this one from Pattie at Lipedema Fitness. She shows how she uses her massage gun for fibrosis on her legs: th-cam.com/video/E5dAMAzKlrE/w-d-xo.html
Watched to the end waiting for a short demo 🤷♀️
Gracias
I bought one at a garage sale from Shaper Image… not as good as Hyperice at my athletic club though.
Do you know If anyone have use T.E.N massage When they have lypmedema?
Hi Judy! I used one pre-diagnosis and found it helpful for muscle pain. I haven't used one specifically for my lymphedema but it looks like there is evidence it *could* be effective for that! Check out this study: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5140805/ Keep in mind that it was a small sample, though, with only 11 participants in the study. Encouraging, though :)
Theragun hands down worth the money
Thanks for weighing in, Stacy! I've never used one. What do you like about it? Is it easy to maneuver? Good battery life?
@@sturdywoman the amount of power out gives out and the battery lasts long enough to do my whole body... .. and charges super fast.
Agreed!! I got mine from Craigslist and I love it.
Anyone try the Lola massage gun it's a portable one?
No video to show the actual procedure. Later....
It feels like I am going in circles. My legs are huge after already losing 380 lbs. Massage, compression, eating keto, low salt, supplements.. pretty sure I responded on another video. I don't exactly know what direction to ask my doctor about surgery requirements.. I am hoping my insurance covers it.. Would anything be useful to mention?
Have you heard of coveredlipedema? Google it, they can advocate for you to get approved by your insurance. Hope it helps.
Hi Karma The Goat! I'm glad @LEONOR Martinez replied so this resurfaced. I don't actually know much about surgery but there are some groups on Facebook where women will be able to share a lot of ideas and FDRS has some videos with surgeons discussing their approaches www.youtube.com/@FatDisordersResourceSociety/videos Leonor is also right about Cover Lipedema, but use your judgement. I've heard good stories and bad stories about them. Good luck ❤❤
@@leonormartinez9108 Thank you so much. I look forward to looking more into this website. I have not heard of this! I am such a mess with it all and thank you for the time you took to let me know!
Vibration plate? Will it help?
Have you tried anything specifically for the lymphatic system? I was reading about rebounders and vibration plates, and would like to know if you've tried them. Just wanted to share in case you haven't heard about it! I hope to get the rebounder once I save enough. But be sure to get a good one! Some can be hard on the knees.
Hi Honey! Yes, you are right about both. I live in an upstairs apartment so I don't have a rebounder (I can just imagine how the folks downstairs would feel about THAT!) but I have been using a vibration plate for a few years now and really enjoy it. I usually do it either right before bed or right before I use my pump (these days I don't pump every day). This is the one I have and it's been very... sturdy 😆 amzn.to/43yTTYk
@@sturdywoman thank you!
Previously I bought one for lessening my pain, but i just found that the pain keeps coming back anyway
Hi again, M r. I wonder if something a little more whole body might help. Have you heard about using vibration plates for lipedema? I'm going to make a video about it soon, but a lot of women with lipedema find using it 10-15 minutes once or twice a day relieves some of the pain and gets things moving. You can do it standing or sitting and I sometimes even just lay down on the floor and kick my feet up on it. Very relaxing! This is the one I have been using for a few years now: amzn.to/3ZNwKyq
@@sturdywoman thanks ! I was actually thinking of buying one thinking it may help to keep everything flowing
@@Mr-wt4eo Yes, that's exactly what it does! I use it on three lowest program settings. It's just enough to "shake things up" 😆 Here's a small study that found it was helpful at improving quality of life pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29847188/
Thanks! You convinced me. I'm pulling the trigger (pun intended)
You are one Sturdy Woman!
@thetruejay20 THANK YOU!
I feel so sick
