      LOL never thought to number them. There were 6 total so from this day forward it will be known as #5 so I can use this.

    Love it! Can’t wait to see the electronics segment. The organic adaptation must have been exhilarating and frustrating at times. Great work.

    Love to see the RTV drive again! Been building my own trap recently and it's been a blast seeing your enthusiasm and results :)
    Also, hoping to talk to you about doing a live stream panel at a small-town con.

    Awesome stuff! Keep them coming! I'm glad you mention the handle. Yes in theory the trap should be able to be separated from the rtv for handling to the containment system but right now you were keeping it for practically the esthetics and not actual support. I just enjoy the fact its looks like a trap bolted to a RC frame and that was the point! I can't wait for the electronics videos on this! Awesome video as always!

    This is amazing Ben! =) I loved everything about Afterlife and as an RC guy, the RTV was my favorite character in the film. Hahahhaa, when I first saw it in the trailer way back, I thought to myself, I've gotta build that! These vids you're posting are fantastic; my second iteration will be even better. Thank you so much!

    The laugh at the end was worth the watch! I can't wait to finish mine. I was waiting for this rebuild before I got back on it. I've got the wrong version of the Rampage, but I think I can do this justice!

    Im assuming you used Bekonix Arduino for this too? Are there files for the sound effects of the RTV? Like someone posted, when it captured Muncher it sounded like a mechanical "woo hoo".

    • @DreadMakerRoberts
      @DreadMakerRoberts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used a arduino only on this to keep it original. What I would do in future is make a Bekonix system with a itsybitsy NRF module. I can add sound but I generally choose not to. However in a future episode Ill show you how to do that. Just cause I don't doesnt mean others don't :)

    Yeah oil paints do take forever. Last year I refurbished (well touched up, it was in great shape) a Vectrex and it had a shallow white gash and I filled that with oil paint. After 3 days I thought it would be dry, but nope still came off. So instead I used shoe polish to refill it. That dries faster. But the great thing about shoe polish and oil is, that they become nice and hard so even for shallow gash filler it works a treat.
    I learned this from a prop guy when we had a prop and it had surface scratches on it. And he was like: “I’m not going to repaint the whole thing! It won’t be dry before the shoot.” And he got out shoe polish and my engineering brain is like: “that’s not proper engineering…” wait what??? It’s working! 😂
    I learned so much from falling into SFX business as an engineer. Where engineering is about making things robust, thinking through every possible problem and solving it. Prop and SFX is: “just get the shot! If you need glue something with gun and if works, it’s good!”

    nice! This one doesn't look like it has that 'puppeting' movement, is that something you plan to add later?

    • @DreadMakerRoberts
      @DreadMakerRoberts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No this was a stunt one and no puppeting was built in. I am keeping is as close to screen used as possible and will build a fun hero version with the puppeting that I will play with. This one is going on display after this. So I can haz a screen used prop on my shelf! Side note: I've followed you / been a fan of your work since you did stuff for FliteTest. Good lord, Im guessing 7-8 years ago? I was totally chuffed when I saw your channel with your builds of the RTV!

    Excellent video ! Is high density EVA Foam the same consistency as Sintra ‘PVC’ ? I made two Proton Packs and a ghost trap from Sintra and it’s a vey cool product to work with !

      No it is more like hard rubber. Love sintra though it is great to work with. Just be careful heating is as it puts off some bad gasses when heated

      I'll ask for permission and see. Its possible but remember that because of my contract with GB and Sony it is tough to get permission. Also go look up Sean Charlesworth Ghost Trap opus5.complex88.com/2013/08/instructions.html

    Will you do another build video after Firehouse is released if it gets run over again?

    • @DreadMakerRoberts
      @DreadMakerRoberts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL, that is a loaded question. I refuse to comment on grounds that it may incriminate me... This was a unique opportunity that will likely never happen again. Don't think I would push for it. Just know more videos like this are unlikely.

    Hi Ben. I notice that the proton pack props used in Afterlife had less welding in certain parts (ion arm, booster tube, n-filter) than its predecessors. Do you by any chance know why they made this decision?
    I ask because I'm about to 3D print my own and trying to decide on which variation to go with.
    Thanks!

    • @DreadMakerRoberts
      @DreadMakerRoberts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really I do not know other than between the art department and the prop house that made it, that was what was made. I really do not think much thought was put into that and its just one of those things

    Being able to build this stuff would give the feeling that your egon making this stuff, yet egon had to catch a ghost in there, so that's a lot less space for mechanics
