This has just made me cry 😭 because my dad Harry Maddock was driving the steam engine Duchess of Hamilton and he’s been gone a lot of years now and I’ve just seen my dad waving out the cab xx so proud to see this I still have his badges xx 😘 xx love you dad and the work you did it’s amazing xx all those years ago xxx 😘
Brilliant - thank you so much for sharing your film. Great to see the diesels looking so good 55015, 25296 etc. Hard to imagine that something like a Rainhill trial celebration will ever happen again to celebrate our country's proud railway past. Well done
Wonderful I must get my Grandads footage of this off the Cine I don't know how to do it though. He has some amazing shots no one else is likely to have of the sideings and off the top of the cooling towers at bold powerstation. also footage of rocket being repaired to so she could take part the 2nd day. Thats why she had a red wheel.
Wow, what a wonderful film. It would have been nice to see all the other a4s steamed up and ready to go for that parade of engines. Also would been nice if the A1 tornado was built by then.
Think it was a heap from the coal mines of Bold, Sutton Manor and Lea Green (long before the statuon was built there). Of course this heap has long been removed and many houses built on this site making this area unrecognisable today from back then!
