Begali make lovely keys and that Contour is no exception. As for your keying style, if you're sending good morse, and you do, then you're doing it right no matter what anybody says, it's the same with straight keys, some say you should operate the key like this, others say you should operate it like that but it's all nonsense, you use the key the way you're most comfortable using it. I like the videos so thanks very much.
Pete, can’t believe you received criticism, you’re an inspiration to me! I’m 75, just (finally) getting into CW, and stumbled into an absolute “love & obsession” with collecting & learning about keys. Your collection must be amazing, and I want to thank you. I hope to look into your key covers one day (I have 2 keys on the way from Bruna, and want to protect them properly). Thanks for your wonderful videos… 73 WI8O
Hi Pete. I like your videos very much as a professionel telegrapher with the Royal Netherlands Marines back in the 70's. Eech Sparks has his own style so dont bother with those bloody comments. There is no good or bad way to operate a key. Only good or bad signaling. Tnx again for the nice videos. Btw I have 3 Begalis.
Hi, I just got this contour from begali...theres no 3.5mm cable!! I have a double ended stereo..but only the left paddle works. Theyve gone on holiday so I cant call. What cable do I need? stereo/mono? or is there something wrong with the key..thanks in advance.
"you can order a professional black base for and additional 20...." Come on! what on earth is professional about a black base??? No professional would ever use one of those keys anyway.
Lmao! The professional is the model designation they use for a black finished base so you can option that on this or a lot of their other keys if you want. I dare say that there are no cw professionals anywhere these days but I bet I’d there were you’d find them using Begali keys. They’re masterpieces.
@@FOADMedia I don't want to appear negative about your video content but the majority of civilian coastal operators I've seen used a UK manufactured dd GPO key, the model escapes me and almost all the UK military used keys by various UK based manufactures. The exception was some Royal Signals operators who staffed some UK embassies abroad did get issued with Begalis - I've used one but cannot remember which model. It was a very glossy model too.😀

Thanks for all of your videos. I really appreciate getting to see each key in action. No matter how you use them, they are marvelous.
Thanks Steve. I really appreciate the comment. 73. Filming another tomorrow so check back soon!
Great video, Pete!
Don’t bother with those comments! I bet you that non of those “commentators” have a HSC certificate hanging on the wall 😊
I have a used one sn 096. Love it.

New to this still: at what character/word send rate are you working in this video ? I assess you as a most worthy partner to Begali.
Hi. Thanks for the question. I would say I was set at about 22/23wpm.

@@098317 it's not my video, I was just replying to your comment about the professional black base. Cheers!
