As a Nathan fan, we were as shocked as everyone else with how S10 played out. Of course we’re thrilled that Nathan and Elizabeth may finally be together. I’m confident Chris will have a great storyline next season! We are so sorry for the fans who were hurt, however the attacks on Lindsay, Kevin and Erin on SM are just terrible. Please be kind. 🙏
Thank you for bringing us these insights! I loved season 10 and am very excited for season 11. Just like we all grow and change, so do the characters on this show. Following the heart’s calling is what’s important.
We are sorry it feels that way to you. Their epic love story remains beautiful and will always be part of WCTH. You may want to hear part 2 as more of the rationale is discussed.
I am just disappointed because when Elizabeth chose Lucas we were told the love triangle was over and we would get a wedding next. I was not on any team - just wanted her to choose someone and start a family. So now it feels like we are starting over. Because she will have to take her time again. Start dating, get engaged, then married. Ufff! I am a patient person but my patience is wearing thin. So can they just tell us the truth - that they changed their minds and wanted Elizabeth with a Mountie/Nathan. I just need that validation, because this season all of a sudden Elizabeth and Nathan spent so much time together. I like Nathan but I also like Lucas. This season was not what I expected. I will just have to see what happens in season 11, I hope it gets better. 😢
@@melissapage2387 technically the love triangle was over. Elizabeth had chosen Lucas. It turns out because fear was a factor in her decision making. Elizabeth wanted a safe comfortable, uncomplicated relationship. It became unsafe when Lucas ran for governor as Elizabeth didn't want to live in CC. Elizabeth wanted to live & raise Jack Jr. in HV. So, Elizabeth ended her safe relationship, her safe love. (Well Lucas was living in CC after he became governor for about 8 months by Lindsay's time line. Between S10 & S11 when Lucas came to HV in S11.) Also Elizabeth came to realize that she buried her feelings deep, but she was in love with Nathan. So for all these reasons Elizabeth broke up with Lucas. At the end of S11, Lucas was going back to CC to work as the resort project got canceled. Elizabeth wants to be in HV & she is in love deeply with Nathan. Nathan is her second great love.
@@melissapage2387 sometimes in real life things are complicated. Elizabeth made decisions that hurt first Nathan in S8. Then Lucas in S10. But she did make decisions based on being afraid of another great love & losing him. Elizabeth did love Nathan in S8, but fear kept her from being in that relationship.
The writers seemed to give in to the Nathan fans and changed the story completely. It feels like Lucas fans don’t matter as much to them. Nathan and Elizabeth have had very little meaningful moments , never dated etc and suddenly she drops Lucas for him. Lucas has done so much for her and been kind and caring but her heart isn’t in it? What has Nathan done? I’ll continue to watch but Elizabeth’s character comes off poorly in all this and Nathan too. He kept pursuing Elizabeth while she was with Lucas. They both weren’t good friends to Lucas.
Part 2 addresses the why. TV writers don’t make decisions to reward one faction of a fan group over another. That’s not how it works. Do they make shows unpredictable and in that way, please fans with different preferences? Of course. But that isn’t a legitimate driver for changing a narrative.
@Im282001 I totally agree with you no BS explanation from anyone will make this right. The only one that would make sense is if Chris is leaving. They say he’s coming back . Who knows ,he was almost completly written off the finale. He’s the main character & he got 2 short scenes.
Lindsay is SO lovely...I hope she feels the warm welcome from all the hearties ❤ I know there's a lot to tune out right now...Wishing her peace and support!
Elizabeth’s journey was interesting this season. I enjoyed this season. She definitely keeps us guessing and sometimes surprises us but that is what you want in a character. I love this show and I have never been disappointed. My heart was broken in season 5, but how lovely it has been. Ten years of a great show, what more could you ask for in a television series.❤
Recounting the meeting of Elizabeth and Henry on her porch brought me to tears once again. Such a poignant moment. Thank you for bringing so many wonderful moments to the fore. I love the collaboration with Martin re: Henry's backstory in the shadow of the mountain. Masterfully written and acted. Thank you Lindsay for your dedication to detail and admins for bringing Heart to Hearties to us. Eager for part 2.
I really admire Lindsay's attention to detail! We all tend to get caught up in the emotion of these characters' journeys, but the production values of this episode (and season) have been remarkable. Season was very satisfying to me as someone who has followed the show religiously since season 1. Great discussion can't wait for part 2.
I am sorry but this was the worst season ever. We were just taken through the wringer. We were led down the path that would lead to a wedding for Lucas and Elizabeth. So sad. So what happens next. Will it be changed again.
Respectfully disagree. I felt the writing was beautiful and the storylines really helped to develop the character arcs as well as the arc of the town. I was never on any romantic “team” for the show, I just want the town and it’s stories to continue to bring hope and light.
At this point I’ll take the story line that Abigail is nursing Jack- who has amnesia- back to health and Henry arrives at the end of season 11 with the news 🙄
This is part 1 of a two part conversation. So we do address Nathan more in part 2. That said, we admins neglected to include the very important voting booth scene in our outline. We got no questions on that scene but nevertheless that’s a big oversight on our part. We do prepare these late on show nights. But we will circle back and discuss it with Lindsay next week on our full season wrap up. Our apologies.
@@officialheartiesadmins2118it’s totally ok! No need for an apology I was just curious 😅 I just noticed that last time there was only a 5 min discussion and this time 1 minute and as a Nathan lover I was just hoping for more Nathan talk in general.
Erin has shared that Elizabeth will explore feelings for Nathan in season 11. So you have much to look forward to. But part 2 definitely has more to share.
Yes, there is a transcript available but we are volunteers and do not have time to enter the subtitles manually. It is a goal of ours for the offseason.
She hasn't seen him yet since the train station. I'm curious if she'll give it back to him in person, which will be pretty final 😕 I didn't notice whether she took the ring off or not.
I seem to think that Elizabeth sitting and contemplating on her thoughts and Nathan showing - up both didn’t know what lead them there at the same time - a Godwink in my opinion.
Im sorry but theyve damaged Elizabeth's character again. The triangle ended in season 8 and youve brought it back. Having her profess her love so passionately through her words and actions for 2 yrs than just ended it so abruptly was ridiculous. I did really like Henrys scenes and would love to see Abigail come back. I also enjoy Mike and Mei together. So sweet. Would love to see more of Faith and Fiona next season.
@officialheartiesadmins2118 is that why she will instantly start developing feelings for someone else? I thought this was a Christian based family show 🤔
I agree with you. I am disappointed with the "safe" talk. It completely takes the joy out of their love story that was so beautiful and pure. It taints it. You can't watch it back now without knowing that Elizabeth isn't all in. We are being told that Lucas was safe, but it wasn't shown to us. Personally, I wish we could have seen the aftermath of Lucas with the breakup and more humbleness from Elizabeth in her response to the children in school blaming Lucas for the break up. It was cold to me. Plus the things that Lucas and Elizabeth are "getting pulled apart by" are not true to their characters. Lucas got dragged through the mud this season on big dreams and grand gestures, but remember Elizabeth was once a big dreamer too. She came to Hope Valley alone, she wrote a book, she wanted a book wagon to share reading with kids who didn't live in Hope Valley and no one criticized her for that. This is why the narrative that they were being pulled apart by big dreams and political ambitions does not ring true to what we know of these developed characters. It's disappointing.
Engagements get broken all the time. 30 year marriages fail. Did you want an entire episode or more dedicated to them discussing their inevitable breakup? The writing was on the wall if you looked closely. It sucks that people got hurt in the process but maybe we should practice what the episode was all about, forgiveness.
The breakup is not as bad as referring to Lucas as a safe choice. That's an insult. He let her go multiple times. She kept running back to Lucas. So she played with a mans heart just because her heart wasn't ready for a mountie. And then she breaks Lucas heart when her heart is ready to face her fears... Is this a good lesson? What are supposed to make of her character?
I really loved this season! To me it felt so much more like the early days, with a strong sense of community and attention to detail. As far as team this or that, I’ve always been team Hope Valley, and that’s why I’ll continue to watch as long as the show runs (which I hope is many more seasons!). There are so many stories left to tell beyond Elizabeth’s love life, and I hope they get that settled soon so they can give more time to the other characters. Henry’s storyline was the highlight of season 10 for me. Many of his scenes were my favorite, especially his heart-to-heart with Elizabeth on her front steps. I just started rewatching from season one and for the writers to evolve him from total villain to a valued member of the town is incredible. He’s come so far. I hope we can see more of these stories for years to come. 💕
Excellent writing! You made Elizabeth human and flawed. Everyone is so tripped up on the triangle, they fell to see the possibilities. Maybe forgiveness for our characters and writers is needed. Hmmm
I knew Elizabeth wasn’t “fine”! I liked her with Lucas so it did bother me that she kept saying that, but that made me suspicious that she was just pretending and talking herself into it. A breakup even mutually is still hard on both people involved. I’m glad that they will be delicate with the Lucas fans and I suspect that with more going wrong with people she cares about (Lucas being in danger), more of her feelings will spill out since she’s been bottling so much inside. I really like all these videos offered to us! I haven’t really been part of the community besides watching the show so it’s quite cool. And it’s really neat that Lindsay involves the actors in some of the writing too. Not everyone gets to have that. My guess is the guy Lucas saw is either Montague or one of his henchmen because he threatened him. There was also that scene in the car when they were looking up at the 'Lucas for governor' banner and that guy asked if they should be worried and Montague said no. Now that he won, I'm sure that changed quickly!
I really enjoyed the previous showrunner's talks after the show and was disappointed that he wasn't returning. But Lindsay has totally won me over! She is so sweet and fits this show perfectly. Really enjoy these chats.
There has been many criticisms made about this season. They should have finished off the previous story before starting a different track. After seeing season 11 poster, it is sending wrong messages and increasing the disappointment of the fans. Why doesn't the poster have the people of HV? Why is is just N&E. The show is not about them, but the people and it has a modern city look and not a 1920's. I think Mei was better off being her strong mature self. I felt that Faith and Fiona had less important roles even though they had parts, but it was dabbled down. Seasons 6-9 had a continuous storyline flow that met with seasons 1-5, but season 10 is off course where things are retcon and the certain characters including Elizabeth no longer act like the ones we know. This Elizabeth has become a teenager who is struggling with her emotions and loss of her husband and in trauma. There are a lot characters in the show and they have better character. I would have liked to see more of their storyline form to something important throughout the series rather than just a few episodes. I don't have any interest to see Elizabeth and Nathan. It will be a repeat of Jack. I rather see more of the other characters and see Elizabeth teaching and more of Joseph pastoring. There should be a descent number of scenes of Lucas as governor. The chemistry between Elizabeth and Lucas is actually naturally beautiful. The concern I have is Nathan reminds me of a narcissist the way that he acts. I am not sure what qualities people like about him. I noticed how Lucas became a better character and the actor is also great. Lucas is way more like Jack's personality now and is romantic gestures and etc are also equally alike plus he sacrifices for her. He expresses a true genuine love and the kind of man ideal even for the 1920s. Nathan is more like the modern guy that has issues and trying to show that he is worth something.
Lindsay is a wonderful showrunner. If you watch season 1-7 and then watch 10, all the characters are back to where they should be. If you watch season 8 and 9, all the characters are out of place, disjointed. Lindsay has been phenomenal this season. Thank you Lindsay for giving us back WCTH.
I loved Mike & Mei. This whole season just made me giggle. Hickem is just a doll.

In my opinion this show has developed such good storylines for all the characters I think it’s not real important who Elizabeth is dating….

Well actually it began as a story about a teacher and a Mountie. So her relationship is really at the center of the story.
