4:35 Hearing Doug say “The speed shop is always near an airport, the only tenants that are okay with plane noise are drag racing shops” As i’m sitting in my drag racing shop next to a US air force base hearing B52s at all hours of the day
I love the sound of 8 TF-33 Turbofans in the morning. Nothing else sounds like that. Sounds like, Victory.
Im not american. What is drag racing shop? They sell car stuff made for drag racing?
@@j0wt0ng Like a small building, small business that tuning and building engines would typically occur in, people bring their cars that they have built themselves and pay you to tune them so they’ll run right (most people don’t have the skillset to electronically tune their car themselves). It often gets loud & most of these business don’t make an excessive amount of money which is why they’re often near airports or under flight paths because the rent or cost of land is cheap due to the noise .
You in Shreveport or Bossier City? 😂
I envy you, good sir
37:50 One of my favorite parts of this podcast is any time Doug says "Me and Kennan could do (any mechanic task) in an afternoon with a couple cold ones"
Kennan with the Sainz impression out of nowhere, so good!
Doug, the kind of guy who eats grapes with a fork.
I’m wheezing 😂
Naw chopsticks
After peeling them
lol
I do that lol
Doug round-bellied his sequoia 😂
I’m enjoying the pod but I wish you had someone who was only updating the TV with photos of what you’re talking about. It shouldn’t be Kennan since he’s a host and would be constantly taken away from the conversation if he was looking up photos.
True, it happened to me last podcast with the Rufs from the wikipedia list
It's a podcast so there shouldn't be any visuals. Listening on a podcast player is often pointless due to the lack of visuals.
@@paulgemperlein626 then why have accompanying video at all? You may not watch, but many people do and it helps to see what they’re actually talking about.
@@ghostfox7400 exactly, it's a "video podcast" which really is just a video series, especially because they rely on video. My point is that it shouldn't be called a podcast and shouldn't be published on podcast players if it's just a regular video series where video is a major component.
“500hp, That’s more than every car you’ve ever owned combined”
DOUG PLEASE USE THE TROPHY AS A CANDY DISH 😆
That Sequoia looks 100x better without the giant Sequoia badging on the rear.
Hyundai N-letter comes from name of two places which start with N, Namyang and Nurburgring.
I found this phrase from Hyundai homepage "Born in Namyang. Finished at the Nürburgring" .
Doug is the kind of guy who mentions his Countach no matter how out of context the mention might be
how is it out of context
he could mention it every episode, and i wouldnt care. thats the countach.
Jay Leno does the same with his McLaren f1, like father like son
Kennon is a legit friend. Props.
11:46 spot on impression 😂😂😂
Btw.
In Germany that grill design that "doesn't work" on the G-Class is a 1900€ option..... 🤣
Doug the kind of guy to spoon his pillow when sleeping.
Doug and I have something in common
I spoon TWO pillows, so I'm badass.
@paulnota3672 Me too. It's comfy sleeping!
Doug the type of guy to have Kennan detail his car for 6 hours and pay him with a piece of ribbon.
‘Me and Kennan can stick swap it in 30 minutes over a couple cold ones.’ I gotta start using this joke lol
The Toyota Goat and Bee are still there. Bless them
Hey Doug. Congrats on winning the award! I have seen one other Red Countach right by Liberty Station. Was doing a fence and I wandered over and struck up conversation with him. Not in fantastic condition but it’s still a countach! Happy to send a pic to you if you’d like👍🏻 love the podcast
Base model G580 has the normal G500 grill btw.
The EQ one is an option.
Sorry to jump in Kennan, but I believe the previous title sponsor was Mission Winnow, not win now (as you say, associated w Phillip Morris Int.). And I think the blue is a heritage nod to old ferraris, I think I heard Vasseur saying something about how ferrari is not only red, but also blue.
Glad to hear more about F1 from this channel. Kudos to Kennan 👍
Completely agree with Doug on running boards.
I would watch a video of Kennan detailing the Countach
I love how James May he is
51:20 the t5 was turbo, t6 was turbo and super charged, the t8 was both as well as plug in hybrid
Doug is 100% correct about running boards
The only kind of running boards that work are powered AMP research ones. All others are useless, Doug is correct.
Power running boards are great
I agree with Fillipo, and so funny because I was able to recognize every car by headlights and taillights at night as a kid too!!!
Chevy Malibu isn’t done. They’re introducing a new gen for 2026/2027
I like to hear your guys' take on the latest in automotive. It's a departure from my perspective so I appreciate your input.
The La Jolla Concourse is a big event for us every year. Loved seeing you guys at our B&O/Ferrari event 😊
The blue Ferrari is a nod to the 70s when Ferrari first came to the USA
Wow, big trophy! Were you able to take it home in the Lamborghini, or was it too big for that?
I betDoug's Lambo probably has a Blaupunkt stereo with a Maxell tape in the deck.
Doug is the type of guy who remembers the Celica with action package.
I had to google what a Celica with an action package is and was sadly disappointed.
Yeah. Looks fast. 😅
Cars & Bids needs to come out with a Dougie Goat plushy!!!
It's interesting hearing your backstories. I too grew up adoring cars, and at the age of 3 would do my own car spotting from the backseat of my parent's Jeep Wagoneer, pointing out and naming every car on the road. The only ones I would mess up was calling every SUV a "Jeep" and my mom would often correct me saying "no, Isuzu!" It was pretty much all Jeeps and Isuzu's back then..
i agree with 22:03 a bit, i love porches and one of my first interactions was a 1985 911 turbo
I hate that sedans are disappearing. As someone who hates SUVs and crossovers, we are really losing choices when it comes to a good or fun sedan
Kennan, get a Cayman. S, GTS, GT4, any. You'll love it. I got an '07 987S and it is sublime. The 981 is said to have the worst steering feel but I haven't driven that generation.
I own the Z here in Australia… very rare… maybe one of a few in the country. Love it to pieces and it’s a great drive. Waited a year and a week to get it from when ordered. I like the rarity. Keep it that way hah
If you choose to have the spare tire on the G wagon it will replace the square box on the back.
I didn’t know they still made the Legacy, thought it was retired years ago. I do live in Canada so maybe they canceled it here earlier then the U.S.
Doug is right about 1st car for a teenager. I bought two RX 350 about one year between for my daughters. This was 8 years ago...both had over 100k miles...spent about $8k each ....still going strong. Best car for my/your teenager..my daughters are now in their early 20s and still enjoy..the heated seats and autos windshield wipers.😁
For your camo fenders, have you looked into ordering the non-camo fenders direct from Toyota from a different trim?
He stated that he cannot because they are specific to the TRD because they have cutouts for lights that the other models do not have
@@XxM3TALGUMxX I'm sure the light could be retrofitted or deleted. Gotta pick your poison.
@@glennnnnnnnnnnnnn True, that’s what I’d do if I were in his position, I mean he doesn’t even want to sand and paint the current ones so I don’t see Doug opting for that kind of custom work.
51:16
Well, that depends...
According to the Wikipedia in German (the best source for correct automotive stats):
T6 turbo-supercharged: 07/2017 - 10/2017
T6 Polestar turbo-supercharged: 12/2018 - 08/2019
T6 turbocharged: 10/2017 - 08/2018
To Kennan’s point about restoration, it’s the Ship of Theseus question. If you restore the car and replace everything over time is it still the same car?
We need the podcast back on Spotify!!!!!!!
Doug the kind of guy to have a custom-made child seat for himself.
If an adult uses it, is it still a child seat?
@AI.Overlord.X
Ah, yes, good point, but Doug would still refer to it as a child seat.
@@paulie-Gualtieri.THIS… is a Doug seat
Aww BOO! I have a '14 Legacy Sport. Just worshed it today, and I absolutely LOVE IT! The pearly white paint and glistening 18" sport wheels are so sharp. Smoothe, great on gas, more driver leg room that an S-Class, sleek interior. Gtanted, it is slow. Thankfully any thurst for thrill is well quenched by my '04 MazdaSpeed Miata w/ tasty Flyin' Miata bits. Wooosh PFFT! 🤘
"Undesigning" the Heinuoia.
I'm skeptical on the "electric shifting", but i guess i can see the appeal in having the feeling of being able to adjust the output manually.
I think it might work better if it is like a more interactive cruise control, where you can adjust the output without having to fool yourself into thinking that you're shifting gears.
Electric shifting could be a bit like switching modes, where one "gear" might be like race mode where the throttle is much more responsive, and a higher gear might decrease that responsiveness etc., so you can choose to pull up in a lower gear to get off the line quicker, and then "shift" into the other mode for highway cruising, or you could stay in higher gear all the way for comfort etc.
I guess they already have the speed boost buttons and traffic stop acceleration, but they could implement them more "analog" for the driver to manually activate these options on the go when in "emulate" mode.
Engine noises though, nah, people should just accept that they're driving electric cars, that's like drinking zero alcohol beer, why even do that to yourself?
They should make some noise though, just for the sake of pedestrian safety, and i do think that some kind of feedback is desirable to a driver, but not fake engine noises, it should be something more logical, and not some UFO sound, but a soothing hum of sorts.
5:06 why did Doug say wheel like Stewie Griffin saying cool whip lmao 😅
Doug is the type of guy to buy lottery tickets and never check the numbers
Great pod... love this show.
Side note: Does Kennan remind anyone else of Mike from Red Letter Media? Just me?
The XC60 T5 is turbocharged, T6 is twincharged, T8 Is plug in hybrid and turbo. (May be twin charged I can't remember exactly)
I saw an early red countach on the 101 in Carlsbad about 6 months ago.... Maybe down from OC though.
It is interesting that Doug just now sees the potential that electroc drivetrain gives in terms of pedal reaction etc.
Ryan at Fortnine (motorcycle channel) always used that as massive advantage, you can have one motorcycle and it can be easy to ride like a scooter, have a reaction of 2stroke engine, have cruiser power curve or instant torque reaction, with better traction control if you want it and I always agreed with that, thought it is obvious
Doug, i think you need to try the Lancia Thema 8.32. Its a crazy and luxury FWD sedan by Lancia with a Ferrari Mondial's V8.
Doug, when is the "A couple cold ones" merch dropping?
I knew that would be Doug's take on Nissan/Infiniti, but have been waiting some time to hear him discuss it.
Wouldn't mind you guys doing a ranking pod where you rank every car company off their performance over the last five years. That or maybe a mini series going over the select brands positives and highlight how yall would fix the negatives.
My stepfather was a car salesman. Supposedly got my mom to buy a car without her even seen it. It was a 81 T-Bird, with almost every feature, except leather and moon roof. I remember the brakes would warp easily. I think it's because it had the wire wheel hubcaps and the brakes were pretty small too.
I ended up buying her a 95 T-Bird with an ASC moonroof. It unfortunately was built around the time a ford had a particularly bad transmission. But it wasn't a problem, mostly because she was such a bad driver she crashed it twice
Kennan’s Carlos Sainz impression was elite.
I once saw a Geo Metro, that looks like it came off the showroom floor. Now that's dedication.
My first car in 1992 was a 1973 Fiat 850. My friend bought the same one. We discovered Abarth. We started to visit every scrapyard we could find to see if there was any Fiat 850 or Fiat 600 there with some Abarth parts. And we would find a lot. Enough to build ourselves Abarth versions of our Fiat 850s. I remember my 1000cc engine would rev to 12.000 rpm and scare the living daylight out of any BMW 325 at the lights. Later we moved on to Lancia Betas, Deltas, Fiat Uno Turbo, Fiat Spiders and eventually the Lanicias, Fiats and Alfas from the 60s. Since a young age, I have been into cars, and I am a walking encyclopedia when it comes to cars form all over the world.
But the Fiat 850 I bought when I was 18 in 1992 was bought purely because it was cheap. I dreamed about an early 80s 3-series BMW, but I didn't have the money.
Today I love cars from Italy. And still own some of them. And my daily driver is a first-generation Fiat Multipla.
The ad you were thinking of was for the new Chevy Malibu.
Kennan smoothing the ribbon is like Dr. Evil petting Mr. Bigglesworth
Gents, love the conversations. Doug, it was great to hear your thoughts on Ioniq5N. BTW, my son just leased an Ioniq6 for $248/month with $1k down. Thank you for bringing this opportunity to the masses!
Ferrari HP Scuderia? Oh dear.
"Oh no! Carlos Sainz is slowing down! We're hearing from radio chatter that his car is out of cyan!"
Kennan I appreciate your geekiness.
I would say I want an Ioniq N but I feel like it could be better. I have been asking for this since before Tesla existed.
There is no reason there can't be a clutch pedal and a gear shifter, and there should be an open source audio files of what engine sound you want. Even if you could do custom torque curves to simulate turbos/ you could simulate a number of engine sounds/ vibrations could be simulated with subwoofers. It would be seriously fun.
Wagoneer deployable running boards are the best out there.
Been looking forever for a GTS with the TRD Action Packet 😭
Thank you for updating us on Emily's health. I feel she is fast becoming a member of the C&B family. Can't wait until we get introduced to her.
I think that it's odd that someone as nerdy and detail oriented as Doug makes fun of Kennan so much for being particular....and then I hear Kennan talk about cleaning something with a toothbrush for 6 hours.
A small correction on Kennan’s thing about Ferrari sponsors, I’m pretty sure Mission Winnow is pronounced like “minnow” but with a W and not “win now”.
Can you talk about the new Aston Dbx 707? With the new interior?
Why is Kennan 'petting' the ribbon for the entire video like it's his pet cat?
31:00 Jeep has made a manual electric 2 door wrangler. It can be done, would love to see who ends up doing it in an actual production car.
T5 was turbo only, T6 was compound and T8 was Compound Hybrid
Love the pod. It seems the level of black and/or brightness on a TV near Doug and Kennan is weird or the main camera that shows the 3 hosts + the TV is focused weirdly.
Here's the whole podcast- Doug is always right and anyone else is wrong. 😆
I agree, He's a narssasist and constantly interrupts everyone.
And deserves to be
@shawnwarehime don't like your own comments brother
Can’t wait to start watching this on Spotify, but it doesn’t really work without video. On TH-cam I just end up saving the video and never getting to it because it’s not where I save my podcasts.
I love how the "people who matter" are starting to be recognized. On behalf of us,,,, "Battery cars suck" ! ! !
Red gt4 had PCCB which is a big money option
Why is the audio level so overblown?
Trying to imagine what sound an Elantra N makes. Nothing like the growl of a 1.6l i4 to get you going.
Kennen is the type of guy to oil up Doug's rubbers
My first time watching this podcast and the audio quality is pretty rough compared to your regular videos.
Congratulations on the Countach winning the award. Kennan is completely correct in that a car is original only once. There were a number of original condition cars at the concours but the judges loved Kennan's work.
51:17 the T6 was Turbo and supercharged.
T5 was turbo, t6 was both, t8 was both plus phev
I almost bought a Legacy. Ended up with an Outback instead.
Take a drink every time you see Kennan wipe the ribbon on the table.
Fillipo is WRONG! The Volvo XC60 T6 has a 2.0 L, 4-cylinder, inline engine with a turbocharger and supercharger. The 2022 model has a combined power of 350 horsepower, with 253 horsepower from the petrol engine and 145 horsepower from the electric motor. The 2021 model has 316 horsepower at 5,700 rpm. The T6 engine is part of the Volvo Cars Drive-E family of propulsion systems, which are designed to be efficient and environmentally friendly.
A cool feature in electric cars would be to change the sound depending on V8, V12, plus turbo or super charger...
Doug Jr at it again
24:48 I too can identify every car by its headlights or taillights. New or old, any make and model. I can get the era/generation of age for the most part, but not the exact year since one generation spanning many years will look basically the same.
The K5 just got a refresh. That’ll stick around a few more years.
On the "is it less efficient" question: in Germany they have done the Nürburgring with it already. The driver was faster in the "normal" mode but much preferred the DCT mode. And apparently Doug is not alone in his general enthusiasm for this feature
Doug is the type of guy who would buy an Aztec, because he needs a tent.
Kennan's point about the first cars you see shaping you is so accurate. My grandparents had a 1999 Cadillac DeVille when I was young. Now that car is....trash. HOWEVER, would I be buying a CT4 Blackwing if they didnt have that car? Probably not.
What is the most affordable vehicle with good highway self driving tech. New or used.
Just get something that's fully compatible with a Comma device, i.e. used Toyota Corolla
