    The red dots and lines describing the racquet paths are great! I will try to visualize them when I am hitting, especially my forehand.

    perfect explanation and good advices. Thank you, Brady! I find it very useful and important. All that kind of forehand shot should be in the arsenal of tennis players

    Interesting lesson. Perhaps you can produce a video explaining the importance of keeping ones wrist and forearm relaxed from unit turn to right before contact. I find it much easier to drop the racquet head with a relaxed grip.

      Staying relaxed is vital for so many reasons and this is one of them. Thanks for commenting David!

    Excellent video. Once again. I am getting hand injury from my wrist lag when I hit a modern topspin forehand inside out or inside in. These are the muscle tendons on top of the hand, especially near the wrist where the wrist lags behind so as to impart topspin. I get some wrist soreness as well. I have had to take a break and plan on seeing a PT to resolve this annoying injury. I need to also relax when i create racquet speed and not tense up. I have been playing for decades and this injury is new and so scary for me. Thoughts?

      I'd seriously rethink about the technique and timing, constant late timing is traumatic to the whole body, as there is much less support behind the shot when the ball is past your lead leg, buggy whips and those top spin finishes constantly sometimes is not the best idea, for most people buggy whips are bailouts. As always if you are going to be out of position so much when you hit the ball, skip it. I would. Also, I wouldn't play so much tennis until I have that wrist issue resolved.

      ahmad that is not the problem at all. Far from it.

    Brady those red dots are ingenious, you unlocked something in my mind there. Question about the 2nd stroke (your default topspin shot), are you consciously dropping the head to get it lower? If so how do you keep your wrist loose and allow for lag?

    • @DailyTennisLesson
      @DailyTennisLesson  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me it's not a conscious thought, but it might be for you if you're working on it...eventually it will just happen. As long as you're relaxed you're wrist and grip should remain loose.

      Mitchell Dela Cruz good question. Its still going to be the same basics but the one hander is so weird. I would watch that video for sure

    Hi Brad, after wathcing your great!!! lesson on topspin I have one question. When you have that lag in the raquect before contact, the raquect gets to the contact position because of body movement alone, or because the hand rotates to hit the ball?.
    I appreciate your answer in advance,

    • @DailyTennisLesson
      @DailyTennisLesson  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you remain loose, especially with your wrist and grip, as your bring your arm forward the racket will snap towards contact. Be careful NOT to involve the wrist too much here or it can lead to disaster.

    • @neohack19912
      @neohack19912 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Brad I tried this tip today and it definitely increased my forehand speed and spin. I guess the key is to let the wrist snap but not too much

    About the racquet lag:
    1) do i need to lock by wrist to keep the raquet lagging behind my wrist?
    2) It it wise or desirable to have a whole arm lagging, behind the body when i engane the body turn? So like im relaxing my arm, starting to turn my body then having lagging arm? When hitting this way it feel kind weird that my arm is like whooping from behind after body turn. It produces quite good balls but feels just a bit awkward

    • @DailyTennisLesson
      @DailyTennisLesson  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good questions Invy. If you're loose your hand, wrist and racket should be the last to whip around. You definitely don't want to be too loose (I tell my lessons their arm looks like a wet noodle if I see this), but at the same time you don't want to be "locked" as you describe. Somewhere in between is ideal. Keep up the good work, sounds like you're on the right track.

    I cannot find any good video footage from pro or ncaa matches that just show net clearance of the rallies filmed looking right down the net cord. Any ideas?

      I like racquet mania's channel. Not exactly what you're asking for but it's from a better angle to see the height and spin of the ball: th-cam.com/users/raquettemania

      I will check it out. It helped me a lot when a coach helped menimagine my target at the net plane rather than a spot on the opposite court. It would be an awesome DTL to show a rally viewed down the net!

    The next video should have Brady sporting some McEnroe signature socks and red headband. Mark can wear the Pat Cash black-n-white checkered headband and a Bjorn Borg wig.

    Why do you want maximum top spin? Top spin is not always good.. you get more power from flat shot..

    • @DailyTennisLesson

      Haha no doubt this can be true as well. If you never want to mishit then hit completely flat with an oversize frame. But the benefits of maximizing topspin definitely outweighs the negatives.
