I've started learning double bass when I was 19, too. Acutally I've even attended to a 6 year-long second degree music school and graduated from it (the maximum age for beginners was 21 back then). Now I'm 30 and since 11 years I've been practicing double bass every freaking day. I mean, before I began to watch 2set violin. Remember: practice every day, make it a routine. This is the only way, even if it's not a lot (1 hour minimum, though).
man, the 'i hate piano' one really hits me hard, although in my case is math and physics. Later that day she came up to me and told me she ordered REAL musicians for this piece so that I wouldn't spend SOOO much time practicing this very difficult piece. Never got roasted this hard. EDIT: Thanks for the support, you guys! I didn't expect likes, haha. Well, the good news is that I'm at least going to play "Can You Feel The Love Tonight. I used to hate piano as well because my dad made me play at church all the time, but I had to have my music approved by non-musicians & I have social anxiety so I would shake really bad & it was so horribly embarrassing so I quit for about 3 years in early highschool. Kind of sad I had to, but I didn’t feel like there was any other way to make it stop. I have since picked it back up again & you two have helped a lot with rekindling the love I once had for my music & playing. Thanks, guys.🥰🎶
I started crying because I can feel the little boy's pain. I don't like piano. My mom forced me to play it, so I play randomness from my brain, and then I get hit by a stick.
@Hale Svitkona Well those actions surely are not meant to be for abuse sake, but if they resulted in emotional abuse ("a child's state of well-being severely, permanently diminished", you name it), isn't it just simply that - emotional abuse? For instance I could kill a pedestrian during accident while trying to avoid being killed myself during head-on crash with upcoming vehicle. So can I then say: "Your Honor, I didn't want to kill that person, I just swerved off to avoid being smashed by a truck! The pedestrian just happened to be in the way, you can't say I killed him!" ? What do you think? To put it straight: If your child is mad at you/displeased/whatever because of your actions for a short time and it just passes with time because child understands/accepts it/you lower the (probably too high) pressure, it's ok. It most likely was because "kids are just like that" and it was probably just healthy strict parenting. (Yep, it's healthy _within boundaries_ ) But if your child is CONSISTENTLY feeling bad because of your parenting, after some time slowly becoming more and more quiet about it, holding resentment and you did nothing to stop/reverse it and just continued the way it was (maybe completely unaware of harm to your child's well-being) - you just indirectly abused it emotionally, while most likely trying to "do what is best for him/her" and probably blindly overdoing it Sorry
When he picked up his violin and said "I hate violin" then started playing I had a moment of just pure terror cause I knew I'd start wheezing and it's midnight and I don't wanna wake my parents-
2:23 oh gosh that once happened to me. I was being accompanied for a school concerto and the pianist was accelerando through all the piece and I couldn’t keep up and I stopped. I STOPPED.
You know what would be really cool, if you had like a "piece of the day" or something at the end of your videos where you tell us about your favourite piece in that moment, or just any piece that you like because I'm always looking for new things to listen to and I'm sure other people feel the same way. I also think it would be a great way to inspire and educate aspiring musicians. Love your channel by the way 😂❤️
9:27 roughly translates to: "The best moment for a child... is when he/she is appreciated by a loving father with healthy expectations." It's some kind of a commercial for parents looking out for the future of their children. Honestly makes no sense why they've gone with a mentally abusive father. They were also being too pompous with their translation that the actual message got lost.

Bhim Sen Hansda unfortunately, yes. They still do.
I'm 19 and learning on my own too. Good practises for us! hahah
Wait like they wouldn't even buy you a piano and let you go nuts? Like they didn't even want you playing.
They hate music???? Are they disney villains??? Who hates music
man, the 'i hate piano' one really hits me hard, although in my case is math and physics. I really dislike how that commercial portrays emotional abuse as normal (just 《strict parenting》).
yall white people are real sensitive
Hale Svitkona I’m very Asian and I found it insensitive and horrible
@@jamesng.6387 Same. But I won't call it emotional abuse.
@Hale Svitkona
Well those actions surely are not meant to be for abuse sake, but if they resulted in emotional abuse ("a child's state of well-being severely, permanently diminished", you name it), isn't it just simply that - emotional abuse?
For instance I could kill a pedestrian during accident while trying to avoid being killed myself during head-on crash with upcoming vehicle.
So can I then say:
"Your Honor, I didn't want to kill that person, I just swerved off to avoid being smashed by a truck! The pedestrian just happened to be in the way, you can't say I killed him!"
?
What do you think?
To put it straight:
If your child is mad at you/displeased/whatever because of your actions for a short time and it just passes with time because child understands/accepts it/you lower the (probably too high) pressure, it's ok. It most likely was because "kids are just like that" and it was probably just healthy strict parenting.
(Yep, it's healthy _within boundaries_ )
But if your child is CONSISTENTLY feeling bad because of your parenting, after some time slowly becoming more and more quiet about it, holding resentment and you did nothing to stop/reverse it and just continued the way it was (maybe completely unaware of harm to your child's well-being) - you just indirectly abused it emotionally, while most likely trying to "do what is best for him/her" and probably blindly overdoing it
Sorry
