  • Unexpectedly Beryl the 110 Overlander started leaking water from the water pump/P Gasket not long after we fitted the new engine so in this episode we look to see what has caused it..

    About time you put a BMW engine in it

      BMW engines are good but if it does break you can’t fix it and everything costs a fortune to buy

    I'd be tempted to use some sealant spread thinly if it leaks again, but hopefully you've got it this time.and wont have to go back in again. Thanks for the video.

      Hi...its been a few weeks since i did the repair on the P gasket and it seems to be fixed now.. so hopefully won't have to go back in there for a long time, but you never know as its a Landrover lol..

    11:00 Looks, to me, like the block is pitted all the way to the top left-hand corner of the waterway.
    Also looks like the outer edge of the core-plug might be rusty (at the top-right) too.
    Question is, is the core-plug rusty because water from the gasket has leaked onto it or is it the source of the leak?
    Certainly LOOKS like the gasket was leaking but, if it'd been me, I think I would have taken the opportunity to do the core-plug at the same time.
    Maybe it's just paranoia but this feels like one of those jobs that will continue to be a PITA until you figure out exactly what's going on.

      Since I replaced the gasket I have had no issues at all it seems to be bone dry and I think the rust on core plug is just rust that had leaked on it and caused surface rust

      @@All4Overland Good to hear.
      Sometimes I guess we suffer just cos so many of these parts are made in places where QC isn't the greatest.
      Could be your original P gasket just wasn't stamped quite as cleanly as it should have been.

      I think you are probably right as the quality on some of the parts you get now are absolutely awful...even genuine parts seem to fail alot quicker than they should..

    According to some experts You should put hylomar or similar on both sides of the gasket

      Everyone I know says you should not put any sort of sealant on the P gasket as it’s joining two dissimilar metals aluminium and steel

    always use a power bar on tensioner doubled up spanners not good

    • @All4Overland
      @All4Overland  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah it’s probably safer to use an extension bar and a socket

    • @philparr2724
      @philparr2724 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      its ok with standard 15" offset , have done that for years with my Sykes Pickavant combi spanners, never do it with chink crap, and never ever undo tight stuff with an extension bar, the way to round off
