@@delaneyoliver6799 the backglass is mainly cosmetic, as long as the screen or camera is not damaged, a super simple solution is to just get a case. I paid like 20 for a cover and just put it on, no one can tell if the backglass is broken. Im not a professional of fixing the backglass, and i heard many stories of things going wrong with replacing the backglass( broken face id, power buttons, ect) so im not going to attempt to fix it nor will i pay 100 dollars to fix it when everything else is still functional, so i got a case. Looks like theres no damage, it hides it well. so idk why your getting upset over it, its not a big deal. if the screen is broken, or any internal parts tho, that is something that requires an immediate fix

This looks easy to remove and I believe it’s not the back glass glued by Apple factory. Might be a previous third part repaired glass. I have done a back glass repair on my XSMax gold and it is soo difficult to remove even heated. Edges of the frame is the worst. Believe me it’s cheaper to replace the whole frame assembly rather than removing the back glass from a genuine housing. 😉

It's easy to see it's not an original case and glass. This cheap chinese replacement case doesn't have any strong glue on it..

I usually see them set at around 350C and remove the motherboard and camera module, that glue is a pain!!

200-220 I wouldn’t go any hotter as you can damage yours 📱

Best repair yet, the camera housing was the best way to do it without compromising camera stabilization withe the glue. Nice job mate!

I’ve also got an 8+ that I’m probably gonna do first, since it’s not being used anymore anyway, and just might be completely inoperable, so I’m gonna give that a go for a first-time glass removal, at the very least. The repair to the XS Max is MY phone, so I don’t wanna screw anything up.

To be completely honest, it was tedious at times, but overall it wasn’t terribly difficult.
also on a side note BUY the big hole back glass makes it a 100 times easier to replace dont have to fool with the camera lens

This video is a bit deceptive in the level of difficulty to make the repair. Removing the broken back glass, although still very difficult, isn’t actually the most difficult part of the job. The surprisingly difficult part, and conveniently skipped or simplified on this video, is removing the camera lens cover. Here he shows to easily pry it off from the phone. But what he didn’t show you is that the camera and the attached microphone was already taken off when he did that...which requires you to take the phone apart. As soon as it’s pryed off you can see that the camera/mic are back on. If you were to pry the lens cover with the camera/mic still on you would surely damage them. Next is the fact that prying that lens cover off actually requires a lot of point force as it’s actually tack welded inside the phone to a metal casing. It’s doable, but not as easily as it’s shown in the video. When this guy shot the video it seems that it was already slightly off.
I made the repair myself (successfully) and I tried this approach first (by first taking the phone apart to take off the camera/mic) but decided against it since the mic was glued on inside and I didn’t want to damage it. Instead I opted to leave the camera lens casing in place but remove the ring around it. There is another video online showing how to remove it, however, that video too shows it much simpler than it actually is. I used a dremel to notch/cut one corner of it and then use a needle head plier to remove it. This was extremely difficult and took lots of patience and effort but luckily I managed to get it off without breaking it.
My recommendation would be not to try to fix the phone yourself. Unless you’re an excellent tech who’s done this several times you’ll probably spend more time and money in trying to fix it and likely just break the phone. I’ve fixed other previous versions of iPhones and this was probably 10/10 in difficulty. JUST DONT DO IT!

I did mine from the back only, you dont need to unattached the mic and from the lens cover, you can slide it through the glass from the back as you are putting it on, then line it all up and glue.

for me even with a broken glass the wireless charging still works. heck, everything is working. I think the backglass is only cosmetic mostly. I just found a 20 dollar protective cover, so at least the screen wont break next time. Best part is that no one can tell if the backglass is broken with a case on, even i forget that its broken. so for me at least idrc about the backglass. I might fix it when i plan to sell it

this looks like a heat gun that is part of a soldering station. You can use one with the larger nozzle, that what I used for mine.

if its too expensive and if everything else is working on the phone i would recommend just getting a case, for like 20 dollars you can get a highly protective case that will hide the broken glass so well that you will forget that it broke
