Thank you so much for this video. I'm preparing to have open heart surgery next week, and I've got my supplies ready to learn Tunisian while I am recuperating! Really looking forward to finding interesting patterns, and this looks like a good starting place! Thanks for the PDF and Happy New Year everyone!
Thank you for the free PDF pattern...so nice of you to offer that...can't wait for more patterns 🤗 Do you think this pattern would translate into a queen size afghan? I have been tasked with making my nephew an afghan. His decor is "mid-century" which, I gather to him is 1960's-70's. As I remember the ripple afghans were all the rage...my mother made a couple, I never did...that was my hair pin lace period 🙂. As I am in my 70's this likely will be my last big project...realistically. I would say I am an intermediate level Tunisian crocheter...so, have mastered most stitches. I think the drape is very nice on your shawl...I could achieve that by using a larger needle size with my #4 weight yarn. I would value your opinion on this. Thank you🤗
My pleasure! Transforming the pattern into a larger size is very doable. The recommended hook size for #4 weight yarn is 7 or 8 with 8 having better drape. The stitch pattern repeat is 14 + 1, I would try to make a small swatch with 2-3 basic repeats and a few rows to estimate how many repeats it would be for the desired width. You have a wealth of crafting experience under your belt! I hope you enjoy the pattern and I would love to know how you are getting on with it 🙂.
@@exquisitecrochetuk Thank you very much for the help...and I do have the PDF as well. 🤗 I do think a swatch is the only way to go with this. I also need to figure out the color repeat...his colors are teal (on the blue side) , neon green and neon orange, 🤔I have ordered an apple green and carrot orange also, as I think the neons would be overwhelming without a color transition. (so...the pattern is 14 [plus 1]...seven stitches on each side of the 1 increase/decrease stitch.) I'm guessing the larger size hook will also help with the Tunisian curl...if there is one.
@ The colours are interesting! Definitely agree with you the neon combo needs a little something.. I usually use Knit Pro interchangeable hooks, they go up to 12 mm I think.. what hooks do you use for your Tunisian crochet projects? 🙂
@@exquisitecrochetuk Haven't made anything that requires a cable...so, thank you for the suggestion. 🤗 I have aluminum and wood in all sizes and lengths...also a collection of double ended aluminum hooks that I love...enjoy working with 2 colors of yarn...usually one color is a striping or fading yarn and the other is usually a dark contrasting color. I have made lots of beanies for charity in the 2 colors and added a ribbed brim. The last of the yarn came today, so I'm going to start my swatches next. 🤞and look into ordering those Knit Pro needles. Thank you so much for your guidance with this project .🥰
