The level of celebrity he has in Japan is off the freaking charts. Way more than here. He's been navigating it for quite a while and it's pretty clear he has a handle on it. He's good at keeping his mouth shut and, like many Japanese, he's inherently humble and doesn't seek out attention. A great skill set for someone of his stature.

Try doing an interview in a foreign language that gets viewed by a global audience. It's not the same as ordering in a restaurant.
English is a very difficult language to master, especially if you are coming from a country that doesn't use English .
