Besides singing, Madonna has the ability to play several musical instruments. She learned to play drum and guitar from her then-boyfriend Dan Gilroy in the late 1970s, before joining the Breakfast Club line-up as the drummer.[274] This helped her to form the band Emmy, where she performed as the guitarist and lead vocalist.[274] Madonna later played guitar on her demo recordings. On the liner notes of Pre-Madonna, Stephen Bray wrote: "I've always thought she passed up a brilliant career as a rhythm guitarist."[301] After her career breakthrough, Madonna focused mainly in singing but was also credited for playing cowbell on Madonna (1983) and synthesizer on Like a Prayer (1989).[272] In 1999, Madonna had studied for three months to play the violin for the role as a violin teacher in the film Music of the Heart, before eventually leaving the project.[302] After two decades, Madonna decided to perform with guitar again during the promotion of Music (2000). She took further lessons from guitarist Monte Pittman to improve her guitar skill.[303] Since then, Madonna has played guitar on every tour, as well as her studio albums.[272] At the 2002 Orville H. Gibson Guitar Awards, she received nomination for Les Paul Horizon Award, which honors the most promising up-and-coming guitarist.[304]
@@luisolivera3261 if you listen to the album madonna and the breakfast club on youtube it shows better what hes talking about during this concert she seems so winded and the mixing of her pop songs and her guitar doesn't fit but her punk rock roots before she did pop was really good
Hmm.This is the first time that I've heard Madonna play rock music. I heard on an Conan O'Brien video that she didn't like The Rolling Stones, so I typed both acts here in TH-cam and I got this. She used to sing in punk bands before she was famous so I would think that she would embrace rock more.
She rocks the guitar on every tour since Drowned World 2001. Some concerts were so heavy electric/grungy that some were upset because she wasn’t just doing her 80’s pop. For me, it’s totally badass.
When she plays that guitar, you wonder what the cat dragged in. She's a dance pop star, a true one,a huge one. But please let da guitar to a guitarist!
On Friday, October 19, 2018 (Canada) and on Saturday, October 20, 2018 (Asia) Stevie T. will feature the pop icon Madonna as she performed the guitar fail performance.
Neither lol. They are both pioneers and both heavily involved using their platforms for social issues. But MJ was more passive about it whereas Madonna was more aggressive. Which is why MJ was more popular whereas Madonna was hated most of her career.
which is how Satisfaction was originally played. even richards doesnt bother open tuning for it these days which is why it dont sound right even when the stones do it. hats off to madonna for knowing her shit.
Of course, there's no point in pretending to be capable of doing it. She used to play guitar and drums in a punk band named The Breakfast Club in late 70's when she wasn't known yet.
Everyone bashing her for playing guitar "is not her reign!!!" She's done everything in life and used to play guitar way before becoming a legend. Music borrowed the"M" from her. Crap borrowed the "C" from Critics
Como siempre Madonna, siempre tan genial!!, me hubiera encantado que tocará completa la canción I cant her not Satisfaction de THE ROLLING STONES!!
Alejandro García Me alegra que te gustó su versión de "satisfacción", aunque no es lo suficientemente largo!
wow she looks and sounds awesome playing rock music i never seen her like this 👍
La más grosa sin lugar a dudas, ella puede con todo, y más! God save MADONNA!

She sucks at guitar
Thiago, are you because of Stevie T? You’re comment was posted around the same time as his video lol

Maravilhosa.
Talented for sure.
@not_a_bug_but_a_feature She’s playing a lot better than most who criticize her can.
Can you play better? Guess not
@@andrewf5390 doesn’t mean she should play it live lol
Madonna doesn’t get enough credit for her guitar work.
Nah. She really isn't that good, for popstars she is alright but there is people like John Mayer or Post Malone who are MUCH better
When she plays that guitar, you wonder what the cat dragged in. She's a dance pop star, a true one,a huge one. But please let da guitar to a guitarist!
@@straightmalecaucasian1453 Of course guitar legends are better guitarists, but she plays more than adequately for what she’s trying to do.

@@straightmalecaucasian1453 Mayer is a guitar legend in fairness. Madonna needs to pratice more before she does this shite live.
Yeah baby.
La canción de su verdadero padre.
I think she's having trouble getting some guitar reaction.
Her voice sounds GOOD. Too bad she didn't do something like this 30 years ago instead of disco.
Scott Campbell she’s never done disco, well until Confessions
@Ash 03 still not pure disco lmao even Confessions wasn’t pure disco

There ARE six strings on that guitar, you know.
Is she really playing that guitar?
Sadly, yes.
Only when she was humping the amplifiers at the end
