@@douggorman2854 Agreed. People mentioned Barbara Streisand or Whitney Houston, but Karen Carpenter’s voice was elegant...she sang the song without a lot of tricks, vocal acrobatics, shouting, etc. Just a pure beautiful voice.
Reminds me of a drive with my mother (who’s late now) taking her to work. This song was the first to play on radio on that balmy summer morning back in 2019…
40 years since losing Karen Carpenter, and her voice still rings, pure in pitch, and rich in tonality to echo across the generations. So very missed, and still so very loved.
I'm watching a documentary about the Carpenters when this song came on and it hit me so hard I started to cry, the music and her voice were so in sync...it was when Karen sang "I won't last a day without you" I immediately thought of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Oh what a wonderful journey it has been, I am thankful to have been a teenager in the 70's and could listen to wonderful music like this on my little transistor radio while on my paper route in good old Victorville CA.!!
That was when music was really music...when you could hear a song & it brought back good memories...the stuff they play today is mostly about sex....not feelings.
Yes, yes, yes, He is the greatest need we have in this life and beyond. And He makes Himself available to those who seek Him. They will find Him. His promise!
Those low notes sung so richly and effortlessly … just that one point makes her the finest singer ever. Add her range, her always-perfect pitch, her depth of emotion in every note, her phrasing, timing, and golden, godgiven tone … please tell me who comes even close to Karen Carpenter as a singer.
There a few singers who would sing circles around her but i guess because they don't usually sing in this style or their color they won't ever be given a chance to show that or if they have done this style and showed it.... They won't be recognized. One name off the top is a woman named Keke Wyatt. I'm not coming for Karen I love her but there are people more "talented"
Eva Cassidy and Carole King. But those two have amazing voices in their own right. Dionne Warwick and Nina Simone are also stellar. But all of their voices are unique and amazing in their own way :)
My God what can I say that hasn't already been said a thousand times already? So I sit back and enjoy, once again, happy knowing I (we) had the ability to listen to this angel.
I was listening this melodious voice from when i was 25 years age now i am 80 but still i love to listen the lovely voice whenever i had chance to listen .so melodious the voice & lirics
Karen had a voice that went directly to your heart. it was deep rich sweet light soulful and brilliant...Nobody sang like her and she will always be recognized as 1 of the greatest voices of our time.
bantumwt I don't know why the lord took such a beautiful soul from us. I never met her, but Im sure I'll meet her one day up in heaven when my time comes. but right now I'm young and I'm going to spread love and live life to its fullest. that's what Karen would have wanted for everyone. 💜
Nice words.... though the good lord had nothing to with her untimely death. She had a decease that was not generally understood in the 70's and 80's and her heart gave up as a result. Very sad but one thing we can all agree on is that she is in heaven and heaven is a better place for it.
Memories are a powerful thing. Nobody can ever take away. I'm 57, lost my mom when I was 27.... She loved the Carpenters, think many of us did. Love having memories of certain songs and can actually feel that very moment as though it was happening for the 1st time. Cherish them doll..... It's the next best thing to living the moment.
There will never be a greater singer than Karen carpenter. Such an amazing person with such a beautiful voice I’m so glad she was able to bless us with her voice
There's something special with the music from the late 60's and early 70's such as this one. Its so much more mature and musical than the cheesy, overproduced, teenager-type of mainstream music today. I think love songs around that era are the most memorable and best to fall in love with.
So lucky to have been young in the 70’s and grow up with the music of The Carpenters. The beauty and magic of it all is still strong 50+ years later as it was back then.
This was my grandmother’s favorite band. Everytime I hear this specific song I always think of her standing beside me and smiling, telling me how proud she is because of me. I love you lola, take care of lolo up there

Who will always care, you're always there
When there's no gettin' over that rainbow
When my smallest of dreams won't come true

But I won't last a day without you
So many times when the city seems to be
Without a friendly face, a lonely place
It's nice to know that you'll be there if I need you
And you'll always smile, it's all worthwhile
When there's no gettin' over that rainbow
When my smallest of dreams won't come true
I can take all the madness the world has to give
But I won't last a day without you
Touch me and I end up singing
Trouble seems to up and disappear
You touch me with the love you're bringing
I can't really lose when you're near
When you're near, my love
If all my friends have forgotten half their promises they're not unkind
Just hard to find
One look at you and I know
That I couldn't learn to live without the rest
I've found the best
When there's no gettin' over that rainbow
When my smallest of dreams won't come true
I can take all the madness the world has to give
But I won't last a day without you
When there's no gettin' over that rainbow
When my smallest of dreams won't come true
I can take all the madness the world has to give
But I won't last a day without you
you longer mate
I'm a millenial, but this type of song is what I'm listening to.
My cats just love the sound of the Carpenters. It soothes their inner Kitty soul.
When I get a kitty cat, I’m going to play the Carpenters for him (or her) too.
Im 16 yet my Parents introduced classics to me ever since I was young and I regret nothing ❤️
Your parents raised you well

Karma God Bless You. You know that music never die but the memories will always be there. By favorite music band is the Carpenters. My favorite song is We Only Just Begun. Love all their songs. Maggie
Finest female vocalist of all time.........the tone in her voice is unrivalled.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Amen. Or as I like to say Barbara who?
Hands down the best female singer ever
100% agree but! In another voice range Whitney Houston’s ....voice comes in not far behind.. from 1985-1990
@@douggorman2854 Agreed.
So beautifully said. We all miss Karen. ✨
The favorite song of my loving mother. She just passed away. Im crying everyday. But I know shes in Gods hand now. I miss you mom. 😭
Sorry for you loss, friend...
Sorry for your lose
My mom died in Sept.2020-I haven't stopped crying...
May you continue to be comforted by the music that your Mom adored.
I'm listening now awesome voice. There will never be another Karen carpenter
2024 anyone?
Karen Carpenters voice is simply amazing! You will never find another voice like Karen Carpenter!
Those low notes sung so richly and effortlessly … just that one point makes her the finest singer ever. Add her range, her always-perfect pitch, her depth of emotion in every note, her phrasing, timing, and golden, godgiven tone …
please tell me who comes even close to Karen Carpenter as a singer.
And don't forget her incredible diction. I'm so tired of hearing today's s"singers" and maybe understanding one word in twenty.
No one comes close to my Karen❤️
There a few singers who would sing circles around her but i guess because they don't usually sing in this style or their color they won't ever be given a chance to show that or if they have done this style and showed it.... They won't be recognized. One name off the top is a woman named Keke Wyatt. I'm not coming for Karen I love her but there are people more "talented"
Eva Cassidy and Carole King. But those two have amazing voices in their own right. Dionne Warwick and Nina Simone are also stellar. But all of their voices are unique and amazing in their own way :)
No one. That's who.
My God what can I say that hasn't already been said a thousand times already? So I sit back and enjoy, once again, happy knowing I (we) had the ability to listen to this angel.
2023 and this music is still great!! One of a kind Karen, with that amazing, beautiful voice, it will never get old❤🎶
Old but gold!
2019 anyone STILL listenn to her songs?
Shut the fvck up. All u niggas always sayin' who's here in 2019? We're all fed up with that shit.

Sure do. Her songs are the best
U betcha
I listen on my phone love it
If I counted the number of times I have cried listening to this song throughout my life I would be in the Guinness Book of Records.
🙋
I was listening this melodious voice from when i was 25 years age now i am 80 but still i love to listen the lovely voice whenever i had chance to listen .so melodious the voice & lirics
We used to sing this song with my beloved mother. Just like Carpenter's music my mother's memory will last i my heart forever
That's very sweet.
One of world’s greatest female vocalist!
Karen had a voice that went directly to your heart. it was deep rich sweet light soulful and brilliant...Nobody sang like her and she will always be recognized as 1 of the greatest voices of our time.
Sooooo not only did God put this song on my heart He told me to sing it to HIM
Hallelujah
Thank you Jesus🙌
God bless you.
This song brings tears to my eyes. We all miss You Karen Ann Carpenter 1950-1983.
Beautiful, timeless, unforgettable voice.
bantumwt I don't know why the lord took such a beautiful soul from us. I never met her, but Im sure I'll meet her one day up in heaven when my time comes. but right now I'm young and I'm going to spread love and live life to its fullest. that's what Karen would have wanted for everyone. 💜
bantumwt Obviously I haven't met her lol, I wasn't born until 1998
Nice words.... though the good lord had nothing to with her untimely death. She had a decease that was not generally understood in the 70's and 80's and her heart gave up as a result. Very sad but one thing we can all agree on is that she is in heaven and heaven is a better place for it.
dave hyper I have the same disorder, trust me I know what she was going through
I always thought she had anorexia or bulimia.
Karen Carpenter was simply the best.
Her voice is absolute perfection!!!! I loved it the first time I ever heard it!!!!
She is my favorite singer. The singer of all time. This song is my most favorite song. I often sing this song. So beautiful!
She's the GOAT
In art, there is no such thing as the "best" for you it may be the best, for many, like me, its very good, but not the best
Agree She was way, way up there for sure Love that woman
how I miss her...I loved her as a child and still to this day at 61...Paul Williams wrote this song and some of their biggest hits..
It’s the end of 2022 and still think Karen is the best female vocalist of all time.
Im currently 18 but i i wish i could turn back the time were my family was still happy and my mother was still there 💔
stay strong! ❤️ happiness is someting you create and believe, so do your best to make YOU happy :D
hey its okay, life has big purposes for you, for real
Memories are a powerful thing. Nobody can ever take away. I'm 57, lost my mom when I was 27.... She loved the Carpenters, think many of us did. Love having memories of certain songs and can actually feel that very moment as though it was happening for the 1st time. Cherish them doll..... It's the next best thing to living the moment.
Sameee 💔
“Won’t last a day without you” and you hear the crunch of her voice, gives me chillsss who else?
Her voice was a musical instrument.
I've been in love with this women since the 70's. Just so special!
There will never be a greater singer than Karen carpenter. Such an amazing person with such a beautiful voice I’m so glad she was able to bless us with her voice
Celine Dion
@uriyahbonafide4194 no chance
@@philbarnes7046 Bow down to Celine Dion greatness.
There's something special with the music from the late 60's and early 70's such as this one. Its so much more mature and musical than the cheesy, overproduced, teenager-type of mainstream music today. I think love songs around that era are the most memorable and best to fall in love with.
Cheers! 2020 and still listening. Anyone?
me..
September 2020. Woohoo!
hard to find something this great
So lucky to have been young in the 70’s and grow up with the music of The Carpenters. The beauty and magic of it all is still strong 50+ years later as it was back then.
This was my grandmother’s favorite band. Everytime I hear this specific song I always think of her standing beside me and smiling, telling me how proud she is because of me. I love you lola, take care of lolo up there
That's beautiful and touching. Thank you for sharing that.😊
SAMEEEE!!!!!
May God be kind to her❤️
Another lunch hour spent listening to our borrowed angel and reading comments. I give up on holding back tears, again.
Me too!!!
A good candidate for most under-rated, under-appreciated Carpenters single.
It’s 2019 now and still keep on listening to Carpenter’s love songs.❤️
I absolutely love the Carpenters!! I am so frustrated with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame skipping over them. Crazy. Cannot beat her lovely voice. No other like her!
Gary Crabb I agree with you.☺️No one can beat her voice and I love listening to her songs and never get tired of it. Viva Carpenters !

Karen Carpenter’s beautiful voice expressed sentiments that we all feel or have felt when we’ve been in love with another special person.
There was always such a poignantly beautiful, poetic sincerity to how she sang. And it was effectually heartfelt, both then and now. Wow, it's incredibly hard to fathom that she's been gone for nearly 40 years. RIP, Karen Carpenter.
Very well said, it feels like her voice reaches right inside you, somehow. It's almost like she speaks it poetically, and sings it, in a way I've never heard anyone else do.

I would never assume it was our beloved Karen Carpenter! I still wonder today what beautiful songs we missed out on when she left us. Rest in Peace, Karen, and teach the angels new songs♡
