I love how simple this was explained. Looking at how/where your plants thrive in nature is not something most people think about. Mimic that, and you'll have success. Great tips sir!

idk who you are but you're my spirit animal, I work as aquarium specialist at a garden centre and sometimes I feel like spitting facts like this at customers 😅😂 but I know they dont wanna hear it because good quality costs money and efford and both of these things are hecking scary for simple folk 😂

I haven't had the chance to thank you for my beautiful plants..I was going to do an unboxing and I had a little grand baby born the same day I received my order. he's been in the hospital for 3 weeks.. my daughter's uterus ruptured and the little fella has not woke up 🙏🙏the only reason I'm sharing my personal business on this is because we need all thoughts, good vibes and mighty prayer from anyone who may read my comment❤️🙏🙏
but I want you to know how much you mean to me with your positivity and all you share..this hobby has been the best therapy anybody could ask for through these hard times.. my plants are beautiful and doing so well. These red plants are just breathtaking.. I have them all spread out right now growing in different tanks.. I'm getting ready to finally get this 33 gallon lowboy done!! And I cannot wait to see what I'm going to be able to create! I'm also part of the Father Fish gang and we have been talkin about the amazing quality that you have brought to us! Dustin, you rock. Finally an explanation about the spectrum. Now maybe I won't burn my plants by too much light
I worked in hydroponics. A lot of people want to try to be smarter than mother nature. I have to explain to them that plants have evolved on earth to grow under the sun, with the sun above them...
Also don't fall for the only blue and red wavelength. Yes, those are the most active but they are not the ONLY wavelengths used.

You should, they work extremely well and they are so much better looking than95% of the lights on the market.
I got my lights from Walmart the shop lights

@@ericp_ski I got one on a 135 gal but to be honest I would go to a hydroponic store and get a grow light T5 I had a 5 light t5 it’s was my tank light 💡 and living room light too

I went through all this par stuff picking the light for my Cannabis, I just started a freshwater tank and its very different lighting than my reef. Why is light spectrum different from salt and freshwater if both are H2O.

Along with fishkeeping, I also do some gardening. One of my pet peeves is when novices remove their plants from any sunlight and "feed" them fertilizers, only to wonder why their plants suffer. Plants manufacture their own food via photosynthesis, which requires sunlight. Plant "food" is not food, and their plants aren't "eating" it either. Not sure why people can't wrap their head around that. 🤔
I am going to be setting up a 55g planted. Should i go with one 48" light or four 12" lights.

@@Samantha-ot9bq i ended up building a hood. I used 16' of led strip lights. Brightness is perfect. Still not sure about the spectrum quality as I don't have access to a par meter.

I like my Finnex Stingray. Seems to do a decent job for my low tech tank. But then again, my tank is super short... 48x12x12. So it doesnt need as much light

hey dustin, trying to find a background plant for the tank currently. Dwarf Swag has completely taken over my tank now (I love it), but I want a taller plant for the back. Dirted tanked and it is a 40 gallon breeder with an NICrew Planted Plus light. Had Alternanthera Reineckii which was doing well but then something happened and it just started dying so took it out and put it in another tank. Looking on your site for ideas, was thinking maybe crypt spiralis wanted to see if you had any suggestions. Thanks!
