A lot of people out there are ungrateful impatient and spoiled. Just look at how people reacted to the two-month extension to the release date of FFXV. People were PISSED. TWO MONTHS! Not two years, two MONTHS. KH2.8 was delayed by, what...two weeks. People are STILL flipping tables. Like, how ungrateful do you have to be to be in an uproar about it? Do something with your life, fill that time with getting a job or working hard, drawing stuff, make something, don't just sit around comparing and complaining. SQUARE ENIX put so much effort into this game, and it got so much hate. Think how much needs to be put into a game, so much work and effort and dedication, people missing out on life at home because of working long hours on this game and many others...and "fans" are just "ME ME ME ME ME, MY GAME, I NEED IT NOW OR I'LL HATE YOU FOREVER"...so sad. I'm grateful to the team for trying something new with Final Fantasy. For continuing with a story with another character, opening doors, reaching and surpassing limits. They're an amazing company, and FF is an amazing series. Brought Square (back when it was Squaresoft) out of promised bankruptcy for goodness sake.
I can't see any comparisom here to DMC since both games are completely in different genre. Not gonna surprise too why the game is underrated since the gameplay is too tedious as an TPS type of game and also have a very bad controls too. The only good and memorable about DOC are those pre rendered cutscenes and soundtracks. If they ever remake this game i know Nomura will be Happy, he loves Dirge of Cerberus and a full remake that fixes this games problems and looking at the current remakes, i'm pretty sure it would be one hell of an action shooter

Basically, Shin-Ra made this group of experimental super-humans infused with Genesis’s cells. These soldiers were kept a secret in a place referred to as the Deepground. Three years after Shin-Ra was disbanded, the members of Deepground broke out. Their leader, Weiss, was possessed by Hojo. He then had his soldiers collect pure humans in order to sacrifice them to Omega, a WEAPON-like god who is said to bring the end of the world. But in order to properly end the world, Chaos is needed. And that’s where Vincent comes into the equation. He was infused with Chaos in order to save his life.
