      They are community tank safe unless you have a group of 6. They are rated as semi-aggressive cuz they can eat neon tetras but they tend to be very docile when kept in 6+ groups. Cool little fishys...
      Edit: they can hold their own against aggressive fish. But not too aggressive.

      I wouldn't recommend tiger loaches with gouramis or severums because they aren't quick enough to deal with tiger loaches. I could see this becoming a problem. Tigers seem to bother other fish, they aren't afraid of anything, they can jump, but they don't hurt fish of comparable sizes.

    I love loaches! I could watch them all day long when they are out and about. Great video on the underappreciated loaches. I'm going to guess he finished eating all those bloodworms - my loaches are always hungry.

    Definitely a very cool fish. Love loaches of all kinds. Some eel effect, cat fish effect, and just cool fish that loach around. Great fish to watch and learn from. Thanks Jason.

    Pakistani (also known as Indian) marble loach, simply the best tropical fish along with the clown loaches, extremely watchable in the tropical tank.

    Great video. I have had my tigers (2) with jewels, salvini, venustus, and convicts. They never had any problem. They never bothered my plecostumus.
    The two tigers will "play" when the lights go out. When they play, they have some bony feature that snaps like a machine gun. You will hear, "Snap!..Snap!.....Snap!Snap! Snap!" Mine are 6 inches long, and I've never seen them bigger than 6 inches.
    They are really active, and are always fun to watch. Mine don't hide much. They remind me of a wolf without much bite.

      I just had to move mine to a 125 peacock tank because it almost killed 6 of my prized Albino heckelii cichlids. HAd all 6 stuck in the corner of my 75 gallon. Rrrrr. I love that fish, but he can be a headache sometimes. :-)

    I just found these a few minutes ago and I like them a lot as far as loaches go. They are very nice to stare at. They remind me of a weird combation of many different familiar fish I know.

    They're less skittish/aggressive if you keep them in groups of 5 or more of his own kind. And they form complex social hierarchies. It's a lot of fun. I had a single for years before I got him buddies bc the store only had one as well, and I highly recommend but it has to be the same kind of loach. He was with guppies and a pleco for years and I def lost a couple gups if i forgot a nightly feeding or didnt feed him enough, but this is over maybe 6 years.

    Yeah this is also my favorite!!! They are often misidentified and sold under berdmorei when they are actually Beauforti, they look very similar . I can tell yours is berdmorei because of the wide spots along the back and the spots stop before the pelvic fins. Another way to know a true berdmorei is the intense red as where other syncrossus lose their color after becoming adults!!! I keep mine with a large group of skunk loaches and it's a exciting tank to watch , something is always going on!!!

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you think that a schodenti puffer would make a suitable tank mate? I've been interested in this loach but have never had a suitable tank set up for one. I know that my next planned tank will feature a schodenti puffer so I'm investigating tank mates for that fish. From your description in this video, it seems they might do well together. My main concern might be that one out competes the other at dinner time. Thoughts?

    I am gonna make sure my wife does see this.. she has a fascination with loach's forbsome reason. I've had to tell her no on a few. Right now she has 10 Kuhli both regular and black and 2 giant Dojo's 8in and 6.5in (I hate them). They have jumped out of the tank a few times while I was cleaning it. I am the one who takes care of them but they are her fish, still not sure on how that happened..

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I disagree. I have 4 of them and have had guppies, zebra danios, corydoras, kuhlii, goby, barbs etc and they've never eaten anyone adult. Some juveniles sure and they do some chasing but they're cooler when they're more.

    I just set up a huge 265 cichlid tank, would a trio of these loaches get along with the cichlids? I also tend to grow out new additions so they range from 3/4 inch to 10 inches. Do you think the loaches would mix well or am I asking for issues?

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess it depends on the type of cichlids? I have had them in with severums, angels, geophagus, acarichthys, and would probably be comfortable with peacocks, haps, too. Any really aggressive mbuna or South/Central American cichlids might be an issue though.

      When I got it I think it was about 2.5 - 3" long and already had nice color. There are different species and some of them look similar, but often get larger and actually lose color as they age. They can also be mis-labeled at a pet store because they are so similar.

    I have only ever had problems with this fish if you keep them with small fish thay will kill them and if you keep them with big fish that will die. Thay don't want friends thay kill each other. Don't keep with peace fill fish because thay will kill them don't keep with anything slightly aggressive or it will die
