    I will get the scissors this is exactly what the pros use to strip coax. At least were I live. Thank you for sharing.

    I got myself a pair of these along with a coil of Ultraflex-7 and some connectors recently. First try, I squeezed the handles gently and the blades shot through the sheath and the braid and bit deep into the dielectric. Memo to self: _minimal_ pressure...! Once I got used to it, though, they're hands down the best coax shears I've ever owned.

    Mike... and all others watching. Mike, you forgot to mention one very very important point. If you cut coax... any coax, with side cutters.. even the most expensive ones money can buy like Swedish Lindstrom ones , you will slightly distorted the "roundness" of the CENTER conductor. As a result... you might be struggling to get the center pin to fit properly. Using Messi & Paoloni scissors that problem goes away. I have had, in the past ,take one of the center conductor wires off ( cut it out) to be able to fit the center pin on the strands. BTW.. it is also worth noting that some of the M&P connectors have TWO center pins in the package... one for a stranded center conductor and one for a solid center conductor.
    Keep up the Good work Mike.... Those scissors are superb and I use them myself... they just cannot be beaten for coax work. BEWARE though... they are RAZOR sharp.
    Albert. EI7II.

    Knipex makes a better pair of electricians scissors in my opinion. Plus you get a nice Kydex belt sheath with them. They are just electrician s scissors that's been used for years. Both Knipex and M&P work well and do the job.

    But you are going to cut that flat part off to solder the connector on so the squished part is getting thrown away anyways so it doesn't really matter.
    Now that said the Coax scissors do make stripping the coax all one tool so that is nice.

    I’ve been using “electricians scissors” better known in my old industry as splicers snips for over 30 years. Wuss, Klein, and Fiskars all make great snips too. They don’t have the big cutout in the cutting edge like the M&P but do very good service anyway. With practice you can ring a sheath and pull it without getting into the ground braid at all and for general cutting they will go through coax like it’s nothing.

      Also. While I’m thinking about it. You are holding them wrong. Put on loop over your third finger and the other loop over your little finger and run them across the web of your hand. They will cut a lot better that way.

    I was about to tell you you can strip with those too but then you did it. I've use some really heavy duty cable cutters with a similar design before and it's a good design. It works well. The scissors design make it look like they are easier to handle that the big bulky ones I've used.

    Those look like really nice shears! Definitely a better way of cutting coax. Cheers Mike

    I like simplicity and durability. These seem to fill the bill. I'll look into getting some of these soon. Thanks for the.heads up.

    I've never used a side cutter on coax. I always use a knife, which takes for ever and you run the risk of self-mutilation. These look great and at only $17.09 they are a steal.

    Love the M&P stuff but for me it's always been a razor blade. Perfect cuts. Learned at school never to cut a single stand (That was a fail) and spend what ever time needed to get perfect connector installs. If not do it again. These scissors seem a little industrial for this. Next time I order some M&P stuff I buy some and try them but can't say I'm confident they will do better than the razor blade.

    I'm going to be the odd man out and say it doesn't matter if you crush the dielectric. You have to put a connector on there anyway, so you'll be cutting off that squished part anyway.
    But it is cool that you can do it with a single tool. It also looks like a very nice too.
    I was heading over to order them, but looks like you caused Giga Parts to sell out.

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I was thinking that too. This was one of the Features and Benefits given to me by M&P. It makes sense, but when you cut it off, it's gone.

    Nice review Mike. Those scissors are like the Powerpole crimping tool. Why scrimp on your tools when you just spent good money on your components?

    as a large of your audience are in Europe, do you have an European source instead of Gigaparts? Or does that mean we order directly with M&P?

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, there are links in the description. You order direct from M&P but you can use code k8mrd for a 5% discount.

    I put a order in for these scissors through giga parts and was notified today that they are canceling the order because of delays and are unable to accept back orders. So they sent me a refund. I’ll Look for another Avenue

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the shipment is seemingly taking forever to get to Gigaparts. It left like 2 months ago! That's what's happening in our ports right now. Boats are just sitting there waiting to be unloaded. I don't know for sure but I'd bet that's what's happening.
