    Alyn, haven't been there in a long time and your film has encouraged me to go back sooner rather than later👍 I do remember that road walk being quite the slog👣Loved that shot of the giant with the cloud rolling by👍 It is something really different at the top of a mountain and hopefully has inspired people to get out walking👣 I know you do your homework so not surprised you got all those trees👍 The trails in Gortin Glen are pretty cool, especially walking alongside those rivers. Nothing beats the Sperrins for far reaching views👀👍

      Gerry, it was a real shock to me tbh. I haven't been in Gortin in ages, I mean, since I was a teenager, so the place has changed a bit!!!!! Look, the giant is amazing. I wouldn't want that on every mountain top but when there is an aerial 100ft away and a great access road up the mountain already, why not. It's such a great attraction and beautifully done. There has been so much thought put into the whole sculptural trail and Thomas Dambo is so clever, the whole concept is great. Definitely add it to your list.

    What a fantastic sculpture to put on top of a mountain, and the meaning behind that you gave only added to it. I didn’t know these existed until now, thanks for showing us. 👍🏻

      I know Eddie, right! They are just beautiful and even more impressive up close. Wish I had been able to show the views better as on a clear day Donard and Errigal are both visible and thats pretty cool. 😎 Thanks for the comments

    Hi Alyn. That was a lovely video. Nicely captured and presented. Looks like a great place to bring children or littler ones to 😉. loving the GIANT at the top. All the best 👍

      Thanks for that Andrew. It is a great place to visit. Havent been for years and now there's a giant!

    Nice video Alyn. You definitely need to go back on a clear day. I took my daughter up to see the giant at the end of March, and we could clearly see The Mournes in one direction and Errigal in the other.
    My wife is from Donemana so we would be up that way regularly. Gortin is a great place with some brilliant family trails.

      I totally agree Stephen. Was a little disappointed in the low level cloud. Was hoping to get the views but I'm definitely going to go back and do it again. I really enjoyed my time here.

    Brilliant Alyn, was in the forest last year with the family but never made it up that far, must ho back someday. The giant looks amazing! Nice relaxed video man, really enjoyed it. “Littler” 😂

      Aw it would be a slog for "littler" legs but so worth it Gary. Isn't Gortin a gem though? So well laid out and just beautiful.

    Is Darrach not a male giant? 🤔 What a cool looking feature to see at the end of a climb - the size of it!! 😮 You’ve shown the walk off so well Alyn…such a nice area of marked trails, hopefully I’ll get to see that giant some day! 😎

    • @walkwatchers
      @walkwatchers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well! I thought that too but in a poem to accompany the sculptures Thomas Dambo writes, "Darach, daughter of a wicked hill slashed a hole in the day, bend time by her will the cane of kings and all above, she swiftly swung the staff and from the past, she passed apple, oak, and ash." So I kinda went with that.
      I think its a great concept on top of a mountain as a destination at the end of your walk. I wouldn't want them popping up on every mountain top but its certainly a nicer feature than a concrete shelter or a pile of rubble.
      Let me know when you might want to walk it and I will happily be your guide Miriam Kennedy!

    Funny enough, I have a plan to visit here soon via bus! I’ve seen a few other videos so your views on the route and the park are quite similar. It’s very unusual to climb a mountain in Ireland that has such good guideposts, or that has a giant at the top! I’m a bit conflicted by the giant at the top, but I’m sure it attracts many. Regards, Ashley

      Great Ashley. I havent been in Gortin for years so it was so good to be back. I get your hesitation regarding the giant but it is so well done and is a much nicer addition to the landscape than the aerial beside it. Lol. If you need the encouragement then I say bump your visit up your list. I really enjoyed it

      Aw Amanda thank you so much for the kind comments, I'm so glad you're enjoying the content. I'm glad it's a help. The County High Points are a fun list to complete, I really had fun doing them. I still have 3 to go though! What's next on your list?

      @@walkwatchers We're thinking Moylussa in Clare next. We're pretty unfit so it'll be a while before we're ready for the big guys, but there's a good few we can tick off before then! Looking forward to seeing your final 3 when you do them! I love a good list to work through :)

      @@amandaryan6935 Nice! We really enjoyed Moylussa until the low cloud covered the top. Its all forest trails and access roads so its simple enough to navigate. I really hope you enjoy it.

    Cracker spot. I have a video from January when there was a light layer of snow. Very cloudy at the top and the giant appeared to out of the cloud and scared the 💩 out of me at first, I'd forgotten it was there 🤣

      @walkwatchers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha ha ha ha. Brilliant. 🤣😂 I could see how itd be scary comin out of the mist. Its not something you'd see up a mountain too often. Its a great sculpture. Gortin is so good too.
