    I think it is amazing that you are making your project files available. It is nice to see some standardization in the aspect where there are no other clear alternatives.

    Massive fan of your videos, just when you think you've become the next Quincy Jones mixed with (pun not intended) Dave Pensado you upload another tutorial of some clever technique or just a video showcasing your vast knowledge of Ableton. Even though this isn't necessarily a tutorial per se I figured I'd let you know I appreciate you uploading such high quality content! Thanks!

    Do you think you could make a similar tutorial concerning your sample management?

  • @TheOfficalAndI
    @TheOfficalAndI 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've already been doing a bunch of these things, but a few important things were left out like collection all the samples inside the project folder. Gotta try to remember doing that in the future.
    Do you always hit the limiter as hard as 6db? I try to avoid harsher settings and add more compression to individual channels or groups if it sounds too thin.

  • @LucasSchaffer
    @LucasSchaffer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    hey, mr. bill! i finded a way to make even more accurate side chain compression. by accurate i meant to say to put the exactly number of compression (dB) the side chain will make.
    well, first of all: the click input. make a extremely fast noise (as you already do) but as loud as possible and not at the lowest volume.
    and second: use the gate plugin with flip sound activate. with approximately 3ms of attack and a lookahead of 10ms, theres is no click sound comming trough and the reduction happens on the spot. you can resample the audio to proof and see for your self. with the gate you can set it up the exactly number of gain reducition (floor knob) as well other controls like hold and release... i hope you try it out. :)
    i love your music and content.
    cheers.

    Did you ever find someone to do this work for you? I’m an old Korg Triton beat maker from the late 90s. I got a big boy IT job and left music alone a long time ago. Kids are grown, responsibilities have shifted…and I still have some funk to bring lol. So, I’m definitely interested if you need to off load this work. I already look at spreadsheets all day. With this, I could really learn the intricacies of ableton and how to see it as a musical instrument.

    Hi Bill. Thx for that video! There is one thing I'm really interested in, but there is not much information around. What about doing a video about pure FILE MANAGEMENT! I'm sure the video will get a million views if you put hashtags like #organization #management #order and #data_migration :P Just joking, I'm really interested how people store their data. Which data you put into the library folders of the apps and which in your own folder system, how to migrate all data when you have to make a fresh windows installation, which data you put into dropbox, where do you install plugins (little bit off topic maybe), how you name everything, ... thx for all the nice tutorials. cheers!

  • @AntandraMusic
    @AntandraMusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a suggestion for freezing the master channel if you want. Couldn't you create a master bus track, and route everything through that, and then route that to the master, and move the plugins to that track to freeze?

    • @AntandraMusic
      @AntandraMusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      On second thought, I guess that would probably make it impossible to unfreeze a normal track without unfreezing the master bus.

    • @MrBillsTunes
      @MrBillsTunes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you can't freeze a channel set to input monitoring

    • @AntandraMusic
      @AntandraMusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr. Bill Oh yeah, that too. I guess I was thinking you could do it the same way as with the sidechain trick.

    • @MrBillsTunes
      @MrBillsTunes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the sidechain trick, you freeze the thing going into the input monitoring track, not the input monitoring track itself.

    • @bearsleethere6996
      @bearsleethere6996 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      freezing is just a convenient way to record something into a new audio file, so just record ya track into that pre-master bus as you normally would record into a channel. boom, it's "frozen".
      Also, now that Live 10 has group-in-groups, there's no reason to ever have a sidechain directly on any track that you want to freeze.

  • @filipemig
    @filipemig 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Bill, I noticed you had an utility with -8dB after your limiter on the master. I don't think i've seen that being done before, what's the logic behind that? Thanks!

    • @RandiOW
      @RandiOW 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Attenuating with utility before your master is the exact same as turning your channels down.

    • @filipemig
      @filipemig 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RandiOW sure, my point was on the utility being after the limiters and not before. The way he's doing it wouldn't be the same as turning the master fader down?

  • @umru2
    @umru2 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    when moving the live 8 sidechain to another channel, how do u avoid it losing the input? whenever I use the live 8 comp for sidechain and move/copy it the Audio From box goes empty and I have to re add the input, that didnt happen for you here
