All these things are things I've seen somehow in someway through the years. And it's great to have you retelling this info. We need reminders of practical solutions and tips
@@RanchFairy thank you Sir, I’ll give them a call. I’m your experience what is the best month for Corky fishing? I’ve never fished a corky for trout. I’ve always fished trout in Louisiana with my Uncle about May/June and it’s always popping cork and live shrimp
You also have to couple the hook upgrade with your rod choice as well. A rod with a decent parabolic bend to absorb the surges a big bass makes close to the boat.
Troy! Just finished my first season of hunting here in Wisconsin and found your channel halfway through. I just purchased a ranch fairy kit that should be delivered this week! Anyway, I too am a die hard bass angler and have been for a little over 15 years. Been chasing trophy largemouth hard for the past 5/6 years. If you want to increase your chances of landing a DD, try throwing big swimbaits! Of course here in Wisconsin I'm just trying to catch the biggest bass in the lake, but where you are a big swimbait is your answer! Huddlestons, deps 250's, bullshads, and megabass i-slides just to name a few!
Can’t agree more on the hook deal. Lost a great big bass one time on a 6” bull shad because he bent out my treble. Always always always upgrade my hooks.
I use the same down here in Naples. takes 5 minutes to bring to retrieve. Trout here haven't been hitting fast retrieve. I had to switch to in line hooks just to cut down on the grass
I test them in a pool. An old trick one of my very legendary guide buddies told me. Test every corky, they are not all the same. he said "if they don't run right, give those to your friends - free!!!"
Spongebob and Patrick add credibility to this channel. Would be cool if they made a Corky with a Spongebob pattern or Patrick if you're trying to catch really stupid fish.
You should try single inline hooks on those lures.
Love the video I replace all hooks on any bait but I use single inline hooks
Great explanation as always thanks for the tips!
Excellent commentary, both mods (KVD hooks or single inlines and body bending) I do on Fat Boys and floating Fat Boys.

Man I’ve got to get down to the coast during Corky season and go on a charter

That is a fact ! And Corkies misbehave on stiff action rods
@@RanchFairy I’ll have to give this lure a try. Definitely different
I watched guys fishing Australia change the trebles to single circle hooks. They swear it improved hook ups
Awesome video
Love ya! From Australia

good stuff
Another thing you can do to modify lures learned this from salmon fishing guys split ring barrel swivel split ring and hook

How to shorter hooks effect the lure buoyance? Is there a noticeable difference where the lure sits in the water column?
