- Design Thinking (DT) is a human-centered approach to problem-solving that focuses on understanding users’ needs, defining problems, ideating solutions, prototyping, and testing. In healthcare, Design Thinking has been applied to improve patient care, enhance healthcare services, and optimize operational processes.
Key Phases in Healthcare:
Empathy: Understanding the experiences of patients, healthcare workers, and other stakeholders through interviews and observations.
Define: Identifying specific healthcare challenges, such as long wait times, miscommunication, or inefficient workflows.
Ideate: Brainstorming innovative solutions, such as mobile apps for patient communication or redesigning hospital layouts to improve patient flow.
Prototype: Creating simple, low-cost models of solutions to test their feasibility.
Test: Gathering feedback from users to refine the solutions, ensuring they meet the needs of both patients and healthcare providers.
