Yep at whitecap got yelled at for not hopping off at the top and got the scenic ride 150ft off the ground up and over. Dont do it. The lift attendant will yell at you like wtf bro you need to get off. Needless to say i think they need some signage like "get off here now, dangerous 150ft lift expanse over the top of mountain" lol was my first time there and never knew lifts went up and over like that. 😅
@@peepeepoopoo129 meh they didn't take my pass I was genuinely like fuck man my bad not paying attention. I know they make a big deal because people have died on that lift and the new managent is all crazy about it. Was only there once it wasn't really worth the drive the snow sucked only good on a powder day and those don't really exist anymore in the Midwest..
The problem with nit getting off is lifts often aren't designed for someone with skis or snowboards on the other side. They are often unsafe to get off at the bottom and there is a chance the lift op at the bottom will be distracted and not stop the lift at the bottom. Riding around the bull wheel is not recommended. And it would not be a good experience for you. Experience of a 5 season lift operator. 😊
I grew up skiing at Buena Vista and my first time on “the big lift” (the up and over Continental triple lift) I missed the ramp and they had to stop the lift and I had to jump off a couple feet. There aren’t many places like Buena Vista left… very small, family owned and operated.
Yes. Leissieres at Val d’Isere in France. You don’t get off at the top but one or two take their chances as there’s a terrific off-piste drop. It messes with your head the first time you use it if you don’t know.
I have ridden all four of the up and over lifts in the Midwest, but not the backside of the one at Buena Vista as the slopes that it served were not open. I need to make a return trip.
There was a lift at Alpine Meadows, CA that had an exit half-way. I don't think it was an up-and-over though, I think it was more to get people to a cat-track traverse or something. I was a kid, I don't remember it clearly.
Yes! A few months ago at Little Switzerland. Kinda sketchy but fun.
Omg, I learned to snowboard at little Switzerland, great time

Ah! Gotta get that backside, it’s a fun little zone for sure!
