Great comparison video. I preferred the stacked slate with the 3 watt light. I really love the way your family enjoy the water features it showed the lifestyle you can enjoy - it made me want to join in!!
I’ve learned so much from your videos John ! Thanks so much for producing these tutorials and experiments. I’m working through the CAC process and you are a major influence on my development both on the creative aspects and the technical details ! Thank You !
AWESOME FOUNTAINS!!!!! I REALLY LIKE THE STACKED SLATE WITH THE 3 WATT. FOUNTAINS CAN REALLY JAZZ UP A PLACE, PLUS THEY JUST ARE SOOO RELAXING TO HAVE AROUND!
Stacked Slate Urn with a 3 watt, everybody has time for that!!! Love the top tips, like you say the ripple is more formal so in a different location I would say the ripple, but now I want to see the scalloped urn with fire 🔥
You drive a hard bargain buddy. I’ll see if I can get my hands on one. You like the music? The first song is my oldest son and me on the drum. I took a timeout during the build to play a bit of music, we missed out on that while you were here!
John, I really like the 3 watt fixture idea and amount of "dancing" light it emits. (One that changes colors would be cool too!) Where did you run your wire out of the urn? In the video it looks like through the water supply hole/ pvc pipe at the base? Thanks.
Yes I did it up from the bottom. I run a wire from the transformer up into the inside of the urn above the gravel. Then after I’ve got it full of gravel I make the light connection with silicone wire nuts inside where they are easy to get to. This makes swapping lights out a snap :-) and I did another video with a different turn using color changing lights check it out👍🏻
hey Jon I like those rocks with the water coming out where did you purchase those i am intrigued by them let me know thanks Derek and also i like the stacked slate urns better than the rippled one
@@KoiAddiction hey Jon where did you purchase them at i live in California and its hard to find that stone around here can you help me out thanks again great video Derek
Never used a color changing “light kit”. I used custom design with controls for multiple things on the phone app. It was confusing but I got it done. My fountains are gone now I am building my new pond and I am using all color changers in the swim pond👏👏👏SO EXCITED
No way! I would do calculation. Splash = height x 1.5. - SO from the edge of the fountain (urn) use that math and determine actual diameter of catch basin. If you go extra heavy flow, increase that number. Use liner with small aquablox and a pondless vault to pull from. The more blox the better but you can use a “sloping liner” down to the blox to cut costs. I usually use max holding capacity on a feature like this though. You pay in aggravation what you save on the front end!
Absolutely, that’s my oldest son Ian. He was jamming on the guitar earlier while I was playing on the drum, (that would be the first song you hear in the video). I guess he just played so hard it knocked him out. Could also be the three kids of his running around out there?
I like the stacked urn with the 3 watt. However I thinks the ripple urn would be great with the 1 watt and a little quieter pump action that would allow more of ripple effect. And less splashing off the shoulders of the urn. More of the formal statement. Bigger isn’t Always better. JMO
I prefer the look of stacked slate urn. As far as the light goes, I would skip it, or perhaps use the most subtle amount of it in order to minimize my contribution to light pollution that negatively impacts insects, birds, small mammals---and humans!
@@KoiAddiction Thank you for the reply! Yes, I know there are dimming options, but zero artificial light is better for wildlife, and color changing...well, that's a big environmental no-no. I do have a very subtle spotlight to illuminate a garden sculpture, but it's pointed down (please, do not point light up a tree, yikes!) and I turn it on only when I'm sitting outside at night. While adding water to a landscape is of great benefit to wildlife, artificial light works to its detriment, so restraint is very important. I appreciate you took the the time to suggest alternatives to minimize the negative environmental impact our landscaping choices have.

You all can come play on the splash pad any time😎
Watch out what you wish for, looks like we will be getting a stacked slate urn.
You guys have a great weekend🙏🏻
I like them both I would take either one in my yard. Really peaceful and calming
It’s crazy what we tore out and what we are putting back ;)

I miss ours, we have dozed it for a pond install in July!

Loved it, keep up the good work. Light it up!
Gorgeous splash pad and very clever use of the light. New sub here, you videos are helping me get ideas!

Great “Side by Side” comparison!
I like the Stacked Slate.....
Love the Soundtrack too!
Thanks for the feedback señor🙏Hope to build with yas soon!
It’s a cool comparison and I really enjoy the laid back pace of this video👍🏻🐸
Agree!
Loved the stacked slate urn and loved the 3 watt bulb. Great job. I subscribed. I just wish I could afford these bad boys!!
Where you located at? I think the one from the video is on a palette up on my hill LOL ;)
Love those big stacked slate urns :)
We are getting ready to swap it out again with the scalloped urn, stay tuned!
Great video John... Can't wait to score a giant project and fly you in to build with us! That'll be some fun vlog material. Keep up the good work!
Awesome video John,I’m going with the stacked slate urn with the 3 watt LED.
Keep up the good work brother.
I totally agree with you, my favorite also👍
Nice job John! Stacked slate with 3 inch light!
Do you have a video where you show step by step your modification of the urn? Thanks
The basic urn installation / advanced version video shows that stuff in pretty good detail!
Always loved the sound and action of the Rippled Urn but prefer the looks of the Slate Stack Urn... thanks for the video comparison 👊🏼
Thats 100% for stacked slate so far!

Derek and also i like the stacked slate urns better than the rippled one
It’s weathered limestone. We hand picked those and core drilled them in-house! 2 1/2” core bit with 1 1/2” side core for hidden lights in the holes👍
@@KoiAddiction hey Jon where did you purchase them at i live in California and its hard to find that stone around here can you help me out thanks again great video Derek
Semco Stone, I picked them out in Cincinnati, Ohio and shipped them here👍
Awesome video John!
Been praying for you guys out there, So sorry to hear the news :(
John,
Are you using one or two lights in the top of the water feature?
Thanks!
Yes, I do both ways...Color changing video has 2, the others have only 1👍😎
Modern Design Aquascaping Inc. what are your thoughts and experience using Aquascape led color changing fountain light kit?
Never used a color changing “light kit”. I used custom design with controls for multiple things on the phone app. It was confusing but I got it done. My fountains are gone now I am building my new pond and I am using all color changers in the swim pond👏👏👏SO EXCITED
Love the video and the content!!
Stacked slate - add the 3w to it!!!
😎
I hear you there but they both have pros and cons!
I agree 100%! For your house though - I think stacked slate. Either way - it is awesome!
In my top 3 favorites for aquascape contractors
Love the video, I preferred the stacked slate with the 1 watt light (just like your wife). Where can I buy this fire effect 1 watt light?
Wow I am finding messages from 2 years back 😂 I never answered SORRY! Have an amazing day! Oh did you ever find the light?
Thanks for the video, John!

Hi John what size is the hole did you drill on these projects
Lol thanks 1 year later- same hole for a 2” bulk-head fitting😎
Love it!!!!
See you soon Geo!
Great video
Thanks mate🤘🏻
Awesome video pop, definitely like the stacked slate better though.🤙🏼🤘🏼
Whats up Nickers?
Great job brother!
Thanks sir!
I want to do a three slate urn fountin. Can I put it on a 4x4 fountain tub?
No way! I would do calculation. Splash = height x 1.5. - SO from the edge of the fountain (urn) use that math and determine actual diameter of catch basin. Thank you for you reply. I was going with one big one, one medium and one small. Still the same?
What material is this vase made of?
Fiber-plastic-glass-stuff. It’s definitely not “stone & wood”
Frickin love it!!
You rock! That’s you snoozing in the chair at the end of the video lol
Great video!
How’s the pondering going??
How many lights are on the side of the urn
I put 4 but will do 5 next time-stagger placement to light lower urn / upper urn👍🤠
Thanks, I am getting some for my fountian and my mom was wondering how long they last
jeff in a jar The lights have a three or 5 year warranty, cant recall which...
Is that a medium stacked stone urn?
YES-Wow I am finding messages from 2 years back 😂 I never answered SORRY! Have an amazing day!
Sweet 👌. Not sure if you realized but there 's a guy in a chair napping on your porch.
Absolutely, that’s my oldest son Ian. He was jamming on the guitar earlier while I was playing on the drum, (that would be the first song you hear in the video). I guess he just played so hard it knocked him out. Could also be the three kids of his running around out there?

Yes both urns were the medium size👍

Great idea, I will try that out as soon as I get a request! Thanks for hanging out with us🙏🏻
I’m going to go with staked slate urn with a 3watt led. Love the Adams family!
Adams family loves JVI too ❤️
Stack slate please :)
I agree my friend.
Stacked Slate
Me too!
Grandkid...dude look not over 35. Good gene~
Stacked slate hands down & 1 watt bulb. 3 watt is too much
Yes, I like the subtle lighting and the slate is the sweetest!
I prefer the look of stacked slate urn. As far as the light goes, I would skip it, or perhaps use the most subtle amount of it in order to minimize my contribution to light pollution that negatively impacts insects, birds, small mammals---and humans!
You can use color changing and dim it way down to get a more subtle effect?!
